Non-Disney Online Games (Wizard 101) Quest Tips & Help Thread!

I am on the Emperor's Retreat quest, too, and was just about to log on. My Myth Wizard's name is Kenneth LegendSmith. I'll hang around the Entrance Hall for a few minutes.

As for the Chest of Oka: IIRC, instead of turning right into the Colisseum, continue straight ahead. It's in the room just past the entrance. You don't have to fight anything (yet) but there is a puzzle to solve. Hint: "Patience is a virtue".

Thank you very much for all your help today!

:rotfl:
I need to get in there and level up today ROFL you guys are having so much fun and I am so far behind you all :rotfl:

I am so far behind you all that I can not even see your dust :rotfl: :rotfl:
But I love this game even with the lag I have :lovestruc

I reached level 11 today, I've learned so much of the game I can't believe what I used to ask in other forums o.o

I have a new problem though, can anyone help me defeat The Harvest Lord? I went with a group and and tried it by myself (I was overconfident because I got lucky and defeated the main boss in Firecat alley by myself).

Group: No one seemed to help, randomness everywhere, and I kept getting attack with those pesky Storm bats (SP?) until death.

Alone: Died in the 3rd turn.

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

I just started playing the other day, and I'm totally bewildered by the training points and spell aspects of the game. I'm up to L3, but I haven't gotten a point yet (I saw earlier in the thread you get one at L3). I was able to purchase 2 ice-related cards and 1 fire related card in the library, but I can't seem to use them. I'm so lost, it's not even funny. Anyone have any suggestions? Or any idea what I'm doing wrong? :rotfl:

Usually it's best to start off with your lowest card as you start a battle and move up the ladder so to speak of your power cards. Of course you are doing that while trying to keep up your life, too...lol
And, it's best to try to get as many battles in anywhere as that helps your experience points and overall experience, too. I spent the first few days avoiding all I could and it took me a little while to move up on my first now defunct character.:)

I also have "Explore Death School", but I don't know where that came from. Is that part of the Grubb thing, or am I missing something I should do?
The Death School is the building behind Marla (the girl standing outside Sunken City in the Nightside). Nothing to fight there, just go in and meet the NPC.

Thank you very much for all your help today!
It was my pleasure. :wizard:

We really rocked Krokosphinx and the Tomb of Storms! Those beasties never knew what hit them. (Meteor Strike! Humongofrog!)

They have changed the levels at which you receive Training Points. You now receive your first one at Level 4, and every 4 levels after that. (At least until you get up into your 20’s.) Of course, because this is beta and they are still tweaking things, it may change again.

As for the cards you purchased (and other Treasure Cards you may receive as rewards), here is Diva of Dragon’s guide to their use.

Every card has a pip value. That is the number in the top left that tells you how many pips it takes to cast that spell. You honestly don’t need high level spells (4+) in the earlier part of the game. You can read the post I wrote about pips for more detailed info.

Usually it's best to start off with your lowest card as you start a battle and move up the ladder so to speak of your power cards.
Just to amplify this point: If you start with one or two 0-pip spells (like your wand blast or a spell shield), you will not be using up pips and can then power a higher level spell in a subsequent round.

Badges question. Is anyone trying to get those badges? I have an empty slot just after Three Streets Savior. The next badge is Wizard City Protector. Does anyone know how to activate that empty badge slot? I'm assuming it's on Colossus, but I'm just guessing here. I'd like that first page of badges to be filled, if possible. In the meantime, I'll keep fighting evil snowmen and gobblers! LOL
TIA!

I don't have the Three Streets Savior badge, just Wizard City Protector! And I'm on my way to getting my next Krok badge....only 72 more to go! :rotfl

I have a warning for everyone, but I think I need to put it into its own post.

I wanted to warn people that there are players who will jump into a game (not unintentionally from a friends list jump) to add a monster and NOT FIGHT. I had one such player in Krokotopia, a fire wizard. I know we had a "no names" rule for VMK, but I think this guy should be named.

I talked to another wizard on the sidelines, and he said this same guy did that before. He almost cost me the battle, but reaped the benefit from my victory. I was beyond mad that he'd do that. He wouldn't pick any card. He would let the timer run out.

I thought I'd warn anyone doing solo battles to watch out for this. I reported it in the game as something I'd like them to fix. I suggested the battle boot out any player that doesn't pick a card after two rounds.

Thank you so much. When I went in there before it was empty, but was having trouble with lag and must not have waited enough for my computer to catch up. Should have know there was supposed to be a NPC in there. Yay! Now I can go to the other world!

I had a player do that to me twice (not a fire wizard though). The first time, I thought maybe she was new or had lost her connection. The second time, I'm afraid I did the mean and drastic step of fleeing after she failed to respond to several questions on my part. So she either had to finish herself or flee too.

I've probably been the cause of that a few times due to my connections issue, but did have some guy do that to me this weekend. He just stood there with all
of his shields on and did nothing else. lol I think we did finish the round because whoever was helping me did help, thank goodness! But, I did have to take a non dis player off the other day. He was driving me mad jumping in from wherever he was right into my battles, and of course adding bad guys each time he did! And, of course he couldn't talk like most of us can (kid account). I think he wasn't up on Krokotopia level yet, but wanted to play there!;) It will drive you crazy at times....lol

I have also had that happen to me on one occasion, dont know if it was intentional or not

You are all aware I am THE hero of unicorn way, it was no problem for me :rotfl:

Last night, I finally got the Grubb, and let me tell you, my new friends (a husband and wife team) make the perfect fighting team with me. It turned out that DH and DW were already starting Grubb and I had no idea.

DH sent me a message asking if I could jump in, and I did. Turned out when I recognized Nightside, I thought, cool...we were going to do that with DIS. So after a few rounds where DW got pulled into a battle from the sidelines, we finally got a lot of bosses done. One of them was a multiple tower "flight of stairs" thing, so we were able to jump home and refill our health and mana.

When we got to Grubb, who was 1000 health points, yikes! I tried out some of my new toys....er...spells. I had a Life Blade that boosted my spells 40%, and a Spirit Trap that boosted Life/Death/Myth 25% on the enemy. Yesterday, I received a 4-pip Seraph that does some nice damage. With the blade on me and the trap on Grubb, I hit 794 in one shot! That got a "wow" from all three of us, and their eternal gratitude.

It helped that DW had a Water Minion that would taunt the bad guys to stop hitting us and hit it instead. With lots of spell shields, too. Considering that Grubb gives you next to nothing as a reward, it's one of the hardest tasks to finish.

Sorry to change the topic for a second, but has anyone been to the secret shop in Krokotopia? There's a hat/boots/deck vendor there who sells class-specific hats, boots, and the mummified deck (700 gold) that holds 30 cards. On the roof, there's a trainer that gives you myth-based minion buffs (heal minion, siphon minion, shield minion, sacrifice minion, etc.). It's pretty cool.

Thanks for the info. I've been to the Hidden Shop several times -- but didn't know about the rooftop trainer. I will definitely check that out. It must have been added at the wipe, as I'm sure I went on the roof prior to that.

The Mummified Deck is the best deal in the game. Holds 30 cards and is half the price of the other decks you'll find in the Oasis. It is, for me, an essential purchase upon reaching Krokotopia.

Can someone post next time they see the teleporter open to the Krok shop? It is open at such odd times. TYVM :wizard:
