Do you have any you believe in?

I always throw salt over my shoulder.

My grandmother would have a fit if anyone rocked a rocking chair with no one in it.

I worked with a girl that would spit on a broom if it touched her feet with it.

I guess I would have to say I never walk under a ladder... I just can't do it....and I would do anything to prevent myself from being given the number 13....anyone else?

I touch the ceiling of my car when I go throuh a yellow/red light.

If you want to have fun with a superstitious person, get a black cat. :teeth: My DH's grandmother is terrified to walk around in our house because Wedge might walk out in front of her!

I don't think I really believe in any of them, but my mom sure did drive me crazy with them when I was pregnant. Her biggest one was that a pregnant woman should never raise her arms up over her head...it will cause the cord to wrap around the baby's neck. She kept bugging me over and over again with this one so finally I had her come to a dr's appointment with me and I asked the dr about it and he said it was the silliest thing he had ever heard of, but surprisingly a lot of people ask about it. He said your arms are in no way going to affect what goes on with the cord.

my grandmother said the same thing about raising arms over head when pregnant! wonder how some of these got started? An old boyfriend used to hold his breath when he drove past graveyards.

I knock wood!

I have a black cat. But one Halloween night (of all nights!) someone else's black cat crossed my path!

I've seen people cross themselves when they pass a cemetary, a funeral procession, or an ambulance!

I cross myself when an ambulance passes with its siren going, but I also say a quick prayer for whoever's in it.

I say "rabbits, rabbits" on the first day of a new month for luck. I forgot ONCE in 1980 and had a car accident that night. I remembered already today!!

I own a black cat...have for about 5yrs now......Hmmm, maybe thats why my luck is always bad...its the cat....Oh welll...wouldnt give him up for the world

my sister's black and white cat freaks people out all the time:)

I don't walk under ladders. :teeth: I've never known why people throw salt over their shoulder. What is the reason behind that one and the spitting on brooms one?? And the ceiling of the car thing???:D :D

i knock on wood. I throw salt over my shoulder. I wish on eyelashes and ladybugs. I raise my feet over railroad tracks.

funny about the rabbit rabbit thing. The only time I've ever heard of it was when I read about it in a Trixie Beldon book way back when. Funny to hear real people saying it!

I also knock wood and throw salt (that is when I spill some; then I throw a pinch over the left shoulder for luck). Never heard of the spit/broom one and don't believe in the black cat thing at all. I would walk under a ladder, but I would look up to make sure nothing's about to fall.

Oh yeah, my aunt used to say to never sweep the dirt from your floors out the door - you're sweeping out all your good luck. But it was okay to use a pan.

I am VERY superstitious....not as superstitious as some prfessional athletes....but close....lol....

I heard one time that if you put a green light bulb in your front porch light fixture it would be a signal to the aliens you were willing to be abducted...it hasn't worked yet.....i figure i'll give it another 10 years or so .... if i haven't been abducted by then, i'll request it be put in the category of old wive's tales....

I only throw salt over my shoulder if I spill some. But I have noticed some people who do it every time they use salt. I still don't know what that one is about.

Can someone explain some of the others that have been mentioned?

I sigh whenever I see Jana ( My DG) reach for the salt, does that count honey?

Spitting on the broom: If it hits your feet it's bad luck. Spitting on it cancels out the bad luck.

I throw salt every time I use it just incase I've spilt some while using it LOL.

I've never heard the rabbit rabbit thing where does that come from?
