Every form I use it on auto fills the last 4 digits. But I'm old enough to remember before Zip Codes when a 2 digit Postal Code was all you needed.

I was 6 in 1963 when the two digit Postal Codes gave way to the Zip code so I wasn't set in my ways yet. But I have been told just the two digits would get my mail to it's destination. My parents phone number was Ivanhoe 7........ or IV7 for short. Back in those days, if the first three digits of your phone number were the same as the first three digits of the person you were calling, you only had to dial the last 4 digits, the phone system knew you were calling to the same exchange. Fast Forward to 2022, they added an new area code here, and you have to dial 1+area code+ the seven digit phone number for calls in your area code. Funny, the 1963 phone company computer could figure out you were dialing in the same area, but the 2022 computer system can't. Very few people have the new area code yet.Do you still use those postal codes?
You seem to cling to some things most people would consider outdated.
I remember those codes. Philadelphia 34, Penna. became PA 19134. But some old timers were stubborn and continued to use the old way.
Just like they did with phone numbers that started with two letters. EM(erson) 5-1234 became 365-1234.
I met my wife to be in 1989 and remember feeling baffled when my future in-laws told me that their phone number was GE5-9076.Do you still use those postal codes?

At least here, the phone company (A-T&T) still refers to the switching offices by those names. The Ivanhoe office. The Enterprise Office. The Gilbert office. Some areas clung to those name exchanges longer than others.
And some older people, set in their ways, saw no reason to change. After all, it was the same phone number just stated two different ways.
