Without peeking, do you know your full Zip+4 code?

I’m actually really surprised at all the people who don’t know.

I do know our postal code.

I think everyone knows their 5 digit postal code - but in the US, there is a 5+4 postal code that the US Post Office uses, but it's not typically used by individuals as much.

I knew our old 5 + 4 at our old house where we lived for 30 years. At our new house where we have lived for 2 1/2 years I am lucky to remember the 5.

I suppose I could pay attention to it as it's on certain pieces of mail and when a website does an address check it will either pre-fill it or "correct it" by saying to use the standardized address but it just hasn't come up to actually commit it to memory.

I "sort of" know mine - meaning the +4s for my old house and this one are both in my head, but I never remember which is which without checking. (I do know the 5-digit codes.)

I also grew up in a tiny town and remember when we only had to dial 5 digits for local phone calls (6-xxxx). I remember some of those numbers to this day, when I don't know numbers I call much more frequently but don't actually dial anymore.)

oh, that makes a lot more sense. I like how your zip codes go from easy to west. Makes it easier to guess the region of the country by the zip.

Doesn’t each province in Canada start with a different letter? Once familiar with them one can tell where in Canada too.

They do, but they aren’t in order or anything. If I say a zip starts with 4, you can guess it’s around somewhere in the middle, but telling you the letter R doesn’t really help at all.
