With the savings of FD, should we extend our stay?

We have completely booked and paid for a 6 night stay in October at the POR. We have also paid for the Disney Dining Plan. If the FD predictions are correct then we would be saving about $770 on our current reservation. I just had a thought that with this saving, we could book an extra 2 nights.

I just went online to price it out.

Our current reservation:
For 6 nights, POR RGR River View, DDP, 6 park passes + Park Hopper = $3893

The option of adding 2 nights:
For 8 nights, POR RGR River View, FD, 7 park passes + Park Hopper = $3690.58

We have never been to WDW before but we know our daughters will love it (as will we). We will probably not go back again so this may be our only time visiting. Adding an extra 2 nights is not a necessity but it may be fun and we could have a day in the middle of our stay to do nothing but enjoy the pool and relax all day. However, sticking with our original reservation would be amazing too and with the $700 savings for FD, it would cover the girls' BBB and have extra spending money.

Any thoughts?

I would absolutely add the extra days. In fact, I did it myself with my September vacation.

I say the more days in WDW, the merrier!

I would add more days too. :yay:

Our first trip to Disney was 5 days and it seemed short at the time. We now go no less than 7 days and prefer 9 or 10. This way you can feel free to take long breaks but also have time to tour the parks or got to DTD without all the rush since you know you can fit it all in.

If you have never been to Disney world before, then the park hoppers are an added expense that might not be necessary, especially if you are adding an extra park day.

(You can always decide to add on park hoppers in the middle of your stay if you end up needing them.)

I agree that I would also add on :). With that said, if you want some extra time in Disney but also want to save a little money, you could add 1 night and keep the tickets at 6 days. This would give you a little more time in Disney and also save some money :goodvibes.

Great idea! I agree! :thumbsup2

I agree with this too - we have found that we have never had the need for park hoppers. With a longer stay we have time to visit one park at least twice if we want.

Some people won't go without them though. I think a lot of people use them to take advantage of EMH when they don't want to go to that park during the busy part of the day as EMH draws crowds...or they do it for ADRs, etc.

I would stay the extra 2 days and make sure you included park tickets for every day. Extra days of park tickets are relatively cheap, and open up SO many more dining options (esp. EPCOT dining). I would nix the park hopper option to pay for BBB.

We will be first timers in Sept. DH34,DS16,DS13&Me with thanks to the info acquired on DIS we rcvd the FD on day of public release which led to adding 2 nights and 1 xtra day of park tickets as we had already paid with budgeted spending so.....I would say GO FOR IT :-) I would definitely do BBB if I had girls but off to pirates and thrills I'll go ;-)

I would also drop the hoppers and add the extra days. I would do tickets for everyday. They become so cheap once you get to that length that even if you just go for a couple hours it would be worth it. It is only about $10 a day to add onto a multiday ticket.

Hopper is a must, specially with FD. For us, we tend to eat more at Epcot than anywhere else, and hence the hop.

Also, with EMH, even more a need to hop...

I vote for the longer stay.

Our first trip we did 11 nights and had tickets for 10 days (no hoppers). We didn't do 10 full days in the parks, but some full, some mornings, some evenings, etc. We didn't see and do everything, but had a great relaxed first trip.

Since you aren't sure if you will be back, I'd definitely go longer. Keep in mind, once you are there, you may just start planning your 2nd trip back .... lol.

Thanks for all of your replies. Sadly, we are not going to extend our stay. It is going to cost too much to change our flights. :(

Oh well, regardless, we are still going to have an amazing time and DH insists that this will NOT be the only time we go! :)

Well, then you will have $770 you can put away for your second trip. :thumbsup2

Definitely save the money for next year. We said the same thing last year- "This will probably be the only time we go for a while."

Once we got back from our trip, I was "disney depressed" and started planning another trip :) Going back again this Thanksgving! We love disney. We even did DCL last march and have another booked for thanksgiving 2014!
