what checklist items would you use to provide housekeeping management with common problems.
I raise this because it appears the many eyes that see the problems in the rooms do not report them and return home and post them on this board.
A checklist left in the room may help to identify that room's problems .

Just curious if anyone else has been recently disappointed when checking into a DVC accommodation. We arrived on Nov 17 and were very surprised to find that the room was extremely worn, carpet, walls, furniture....all in terrible condition. Plus the place really didn't look very clean. Not the way that you want to have twin 17 month olds crawling around.

Well, judging by the post you quoted, I would say that the poster was in a room nearing the end of the rehab cycle. Unlike cash rooms, DVC can not simply raise rates to cover the cost if a room becomes worn. DVC rooms are refurbished on a cycle. Really, housekeeping couldn't do too much with worn carpet or furnishings, those things need to be replaced on their schedule.

That is one difference between a timeshare and a standard hotel.

We always do the full inspection upon checkin before we unpack anything. But we have been very fortunaete and aside from some light bulbs, have had very few issues on any of our trips. But it is critical that any issues be addressed immediately.

And those who think their rooms are in good order rarely post that as a topic. But an unhappy owner will do that. So I think that we largely hear the unhappy stories.

But there are occasions when complaint is more than warranted. and in those cases. don't stsnd for it, and get it fixed right away.
