I am trying surprise my family with a last minute trip to Disney during Thanksgiving week. We have a trip planned in April to the Fort but this trip will be a surprise for them..... I am the head coach for the football team of a local high school and this eats up alot of family time. My family sacrifices alot when I coach so I thought a surprise trip would be a nice thank you for all they have to put with during football season. Obviously I am not having any luck getting a site. Any tips, tricks, advice to help me with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Shorelife,
First, thanks for thinking of your family. I can understand how coaching fills the day especially during this time of the year.
Second, we always say, "Keep trying". You might want to try a
travel agent (at no cost to you) to keep trying for you.
Third, the one thing to watch for is cancellation windows.
For guests with a package (room, tix, etc), they must be paid in full before 45 days of arrival. After that the cancellation penalty is pretty severe. So if you back up 45-50 days from the weekend before Thanksgiving, there will be some activity as a few people cancel because their plans changed. You or someone should call a couple times a day during this brief period of time.
For guests with room-only ressies, that cancellation window is only 7 days before arrival (which makes it last minute for you). But again, there will be a few of these types of ressies cancelled and available for rebooking.
Good luck to you! And

to the DIS Camping Board!
