** WISH Volunteers for 2010 WDW Marathon Weekend **

Cam - It's not up yet. :headache: And to confuse matters just today they resent the Group Registration email out again.

Diane - Oh we haven't thought that far ahead but it's certainly a great idea. As soon as we get registration straightened out we can work on who's bringing what. Thanks for the suggestion!

If you're signed up for RWS#2 we are already registered as a group. Watch this thread for updates.

Also wanted to offer my thanks to all the volunteers, I will need each and every one of you. and also offer up to donate funds, or washcloths etc. Can't bring food as won't have access to a car but can bring anything else or donate $$$

Mel? Judy? Kristi? Is there a list of supplies and who is bringing what? I know KATHY! Has her whips  And last year I dropped some oranges but I am so far not sure when I am i getting in so might be better off giving someone like you or Bill some money towards oranges or someting.

I know we're far in advance, Judy and Kristi, but please add me to the list of those going Goofy/Dopey who can't scream team but want to contribute in whatever small way I can. Money, food, washclothes, foot rubs for you afterwards.... DOOD and I are planning on having a car at this time, but I'll let you know if that changes.

All of you out there--encouraging, smiling, screaming, pushing me on--help me more than I can possibly express. I'd like to think that I'd want to do the Goofy just for the 5th anniversary medals, but knowing so many of you would be there on the course definitely helped me made up my mind. :goodvibes

I will have a car so can help with any type of shopping or dropping off Sat of supplies. Patrick (tiggerspal222) is going to volunteer at the half (he's doing the full).

Wow, this is so nice of all you guys! Thanks so much! We'll work all this out over the next couple of months. Very nice of you all to offer!! :goodvibes

So, yeah, umm, Deb....how are you with massages, cause I'm gonna need one. :lmao:

Kristi and/or Judy -- I can't find where the heck volunteer registration is on the site. Do you know? Am I missing it? Or is it not posted yet? Yes, I am clueless. :confused3

Cam Clueless!!!! NEVER!!! :) You are soooooo NOT !! and btw.. have I told you lately that I miss you????????

This just in!!! :yay:

I just got a call from Disney Group Registration. We have TEN spots at RWS#2 reserved for us. We will get a link to a Group Registration Website in about two weeks.

I realize this poses a bit of an issue since we had more than ten people interested in this spot. :guilty:

I think some of them have left to do the Goofy.

Yup. If we can't volunteer where WE want to we will just do few miles like the Goofy :lmao: We're kinda crazy that way :joker:

Definitely doing the Marathon/Goofy BECAUSE of the team. I don't know if I would ever attempt 26.2 elsewhere, it's BECAUSE of the team support, the familiar smiling faces that get you thru.

MEL! Excellent job in locating that link! I knew there was one but heck if I know. I'll bookmark it this time!

You are a sweetie! I am missing you TERRIBLY!!

Judy -- That is awesome news!! So glad they've confirmed to you that they've reserved those spots for the WISH volunteers. I am really excited!

Well, if we have more than 10, we can call the Disney Sports guy and ask to add more. Or we can have #11 and up sign up the regular, individual way.

Also, did we come up with another 'official' location during a later time frame? I know Tracy (and others) wanted to do the later location again this year.

Yes, anyone wanting to do a later location again this year???
Like either just after TTC or Just after the Magic Kingdom (back stage). I did the backstage one last year and was kinda cool. Cleanup was VERY VERY fast as they have to get it done before cast members have to use the area.

Judy: have no fear.......I'm going to opt out of Red Stop #2 and switch to one of those that meets in the Polynesian parking lot. My daughter is a Blue course runner so this way i will get to see her also. We were originally staying at OKW, but now we'll be at BLT in the Contemporary. Since we won't have a car, one of the other stops is easier to get to.

Tracy: So I guess this means I'll be joining your group. I personally prefer the earlier station (mile 7, is it?), but want to work with other WISHers so I'll go where the group decides!

Oh Jeanne, well, we will miss you ar RWS#2 but thanks for graciously switching. :thumbsup2

Jeanne: From last year it said that the Full WS #7 (just after TTC) shift was from 4am to 10am. How close was that to the actual time that you were there? How was the clean up, what did you have to do and what time did you make it back to the Parking lot meeting area after you were done??

WS #11 (backstage MK behind Splash Mountain) shift was from 5am to 10:30am. Clean up was very fast and we were back to the parking lot by 9:45ish, Had time to go back to the Poly, grab something from the room, bus to AK and then see some of the back of the packers in front of AK.

Let me know...or we can get to see who else wants a later shift and then vote or something.

Tracy

Tracy, last year I participated in the full, so I worked the HALF. We had Water stop #1 and 11 which was the longest shift because we were both the first and last (I think) water stop. Our shift was from 4:15 to 10:00 and I had to report to the Pluto (Poly) parking lot. We were finished with clean-up a little after 9:30 but by the time we rode back on the bus and got "checked out" it was almost 10:00 because I remember hoping that we would be done early and it ended up only being about 5-10 minutes.
Did we have any WISHers that did #7 last year? I would think that one would be done earlier than #11 by virtue of the fact that it's 4 miles sooner on the course. Given the pace requirements, that translates to 1:04 earlier.
As I mentioned, I will gladly do either stop but I prefer to be with other WISHers. The bigger the group we have, the easier it will be for the runners to spot us. My only requirement is that we meet at the Pluto lot because it's the only place I can get to without hiring a cab. BTW, my husband will probably will volunteering this year also so that's an additional person. What about Bryan? Does he plan to volunteer this year?

Yes, I agree that whichever stop we can get the most people the better. Not sure about Bryan, if he ends up staying then he will volunteer also.

Tracy

Last night Judy & I got the word that we officially have the full marathon red #2 water stop as a group!
It will be our 3rd year manning the position, but the first officially as a group in the eyes of the powers that be (but I digress...)

So, those of you who want to sign up at Red Water Stop #2 - please do so:
A custom registration form has been created for your group to register on line. Each individual will need to register by September 30, 2009 by connecting to the internet and then pasting the following link into their browser:
http://www.active.com/framed/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1768423

Choose "WISH" as your group, and proceed!
Please let me or Judy know if you have any questions. :woohoo:

***PLEASE ONLY REGISTER IF YOU ARE DEFINITE***

Anyone planning to volunteer for the Half?

Turns out my Mom is probably coming along & will take care of Zack.
Which leaves me free to volunteer on Saturday too!
