** WISH Volunteers for 2010 WDW Marathon Weekend **

:yay:

I'm ready! I will be there! I may be movin slow, but I'll be there!!

btw I really appreciated the PM - just fyi the link in the pm didnt work, but the link here works FINE!! :woohoo:

Is there a list or anything of things that can be donated? I am doing goofy so can't volunteer but like many others have mentioned I would love to offer to bring items or donate $$ for oranges etc?

I know one thing that I used alot was those sponge things Carrie brought to I think it was the Minnie one year....they are awesome.

Anything I can bring from home let me know.

WOOHOO!!!! We are registered, dh, dd and myself!!! Thanks for keeping us posted!

I have been keeping my eyes peeled in Target for those stacks of washcloths when they go on clearance. I think the really good clearance of those is in Sept. when all the college line stuff gets cleared out. I know people loved the cold washcloths at the end of the Full.

I have some green cowbells from Target. I can bring a few extras to the WISH meet.

Good afternoon!

Do I need to go to a WDW site to sign up to volunteer during the Half? Has someone signed me up already? Perhaps Honeibee?

If not, please send me a link or something. I don't want to miss out cheering everyone on and helping to support the WISHers running the Half or the first day of the Goofy!

Thanks!

We don't have an official WISH location for the Half.

Were you thinking of a certian location? I am considering it, but wondering if it will be too much with volunteering for the Full also.

Since when are we on a "screen name" basis??? :confused3

Judith~ A temporary mind meltdown I assure you. :lovestruc:love::flower3:

So, to answer Kristi's question.. I do not have a spot picked out. I just want to volunteer with other WISHers for the Half. I don't want to miss out on needing to go to a WDW website to sign up, request a location, etc. if that is necessary.

Thanks for any info you can share!

Howard Since I am running the full this year (or something that looks like running!), I may sign up to volunteer at the half. Last year when I volunteered for the full, we just informally agreed on where to sign up (Disney had posted volunteer opportunity locations, so we could see the choices) and then pounced when sign up opened. I remember just checking in on this thread periodically and noticing when the action occurred. It worked out fine--Racy Tracey, Bubba, myself and one other were able to sign up for the same stop.

My co-worker checked in with the Disney people and they said "end of July" the sign up would be open (although they usually are optimistic when it comes to time!) I plan to keep checking and will post when anything is available.

I'm very keen to volunteer for the full marathon this year. I, too, would like to be with other WISH people. I've got a couple of friends along for the weekend who may also be interested in volunteering with me.

My husband and I will also be volunteering for the full, but it needs to be a position that checks in at the Poly lot or somewhere else accessible from the monorail. I think those are water stops 7 or 11 and either one would be acceptable for us. I just want to be part of a WISH presence since that is what the runners need to give them a boost. One or two workers can get lost in the shuffle but when you have a group of several WISH shirts together it's hard to miss them.

Anyone want to make a call and choose a stop.....Tracey? Bubba?

Jeanne! This works for me too. Not because I can volunteer just in case I need a smack upside the head in the middle of the race! :lmao:

I think it will be lovely to see some familiar faces about this time in the Full :grouphug:

I would go with Tracy's spot back behind the MK. In 2009 we volunteered either on their way into the MK or out (I was soo confused!) Anyways we had to carry 1/2 the supplies (tables, cups, beverages) across the road. Not always the easiest (guess I should have done more upper body!) and I seem to recall a slight slant to the road? Where ever we were I don't know if you would want it after doing the Half. (even though we did it after the Half LOL but still I thought I was getting TRACY'S location what a surprise that was!)

Plus it was dark and we had cars to contend with as we crossed. We had a person assigned just to watch for traffic for us :)

OK, I couldn't find water stop #11 so I signed up hubby and myself for #7. I also noticed that Red stop #2 wasn't listed so maybe another group has #11. After what Diane wrote, it seems that 11 might be better, but as long as I can use the monorail to get there, it's OK.

Please sign up if you'e interested! Oh, and it looks like both half- and full-volunteers will get a jacket this year because you have to choose your pullover size. Last year they did not specify and the half workers got a crappy t-shirt that didn't even say "volunteer".

Jeanne,
Shall we make it an O'hana pocket at water stop 7? It sounds like a good location and schedule for me as well.

I just signed up for the half. I picked the MK Auto Plaza course monitor. One--it's out on the course, and two--it's a short shift with reasonable hours (5-8;30, or something like that). Anyone want to join me?

POFQ - the Poly would be awesome, but was not in my friends' budget, so POFQ it is.
