Shannon: I'm glad you were able to find a running group. I'm like Disneybound, I like to run alone. It centers me. Plus, I don't think anyone runs at my speed. People are either faster or slower than me. :)

Kim: Good luck on your 18. I hope the weather holds off for you. Running in Hawaii sounds wonderful. That would be my kind of race.

Disneybound: I hope that your achilles is better. It's tough to take a week off, but you'll be better for it. :thumbsup2

Matt: It's nice to be able to play it by ear on those weekend runs. I have to stick to an exact schedule or I feel lost. Then, if I feel like the run is too long or too short, I'm stuck. Sorry you have to work tonight.

I did a 14 miler today. It was really enjoyable. I did 7 yesterday. I'm trying to stick to the weekend back to backs as much as possible. I felt like I could have run farther today, but I did 22 last Friday and don't want to push this glute injury. I'm getting so excited. 5 weeks until Goofy!

So, how was the weekend for everyone? It's been really busy around here. We're heading to WDW in 3 days and I'm behind on trip prep as well as Christmas prep. Oh well, what will be will be (and I can't wait to get out of here!)

I am trying my darndest to get into the training spirit for the Princess but I'm having trouble. I think the change in temperature and the darker/shorter days are really making more difference than I thought they would! I have just lost the majority of my desire! I'm very thankful that I got the treadmill when I did. At least I have fewer excuses. I did my 7 miles yesterday just as prescribed, but I didn't jump out of bed looking forward to it like I did a few months ago. *sigh*

I need a motivation infusion! At least it's only 80-something days until the Princess. Maybe if I can look forward to it enough I'll gain some motivation. Maybe I'll just have to tell myself I can't go if I don't train. (It's paid for though, so you KNOW I'd go anyway... :lmao: )

Leigh!!! Oh my goodness what is happening down in Gainsville?!? I don't think Meyer is really retiring, is he? He can't, he's iconic down there! I know his heart isn't good, but still. I'm holding out until Spring Practices start and they have a new coach. Even then, I'll wait until the first game when a new coach is on the field will I believe it. I hope he comes back. It wouldn't be the same without him. Sorry about your achilles. Is it getting any better? I hope so. Don't know if you have one/looked for one, but they have braces for those you know. It wraps around your ankle. My dad used them when his were acting up. Hopefully rest will heal them.

Meredith- what if you moved the treadmill around to another part of the house or different window if it's in front of a window. Kinda like changing up your running route? Or if you can, get out on the road once or twice a week instead of the treadmill? Have fun in WDW!!!

Ran a few this morning. Had some shin problems, haven't had those in a long time, gotta get back to weights for that part of the leg. It was raining this morning, but not that cold so that was good. Hood didn't stay up very well, I think part of it was b/c I had my hat on too and it was slipping off that. Oh well. 9-10 tomorrow and then my favorite on Saturday!! 20 miles. I just love those, they are so much fun. I don't understand why everyone doesn't run those!! :rotfl2: It'd definitely be better w/ the scenery from the marathon than streets and houses. That's alright- 1 more month. I can't wait! :mickeyjum

sounds like everyone has been doing pretty great with running (not me :rotfl:), sorry to hear about injuries/pains yall are feeling though:sad2:

I am sure those who are running in WDW in January are getting excited, right?!?

COLDDDD - it was freezing this morning in DC. I'm still kinda chilled. Still very pretty, no wind. The holiday displays are up on most storefronts/etc. Cities not quite in a holiday mood yet but you can see it coming. In other fun news - Disney Waivers are up, so for those of you running a race there in January - you can get your Bib Number - I'm #338 in the full :). Also make sure to check all the other relevant details, I've heard they had some issues with shirt sizes.

Wow, Matt, 338 is wayyyy fast! I'm starting in the 2nd corral, I believe with 5324 for the full and 23369 for the half. I'm happy with that. :thumbsup2

Meredith: You'll get it back. We all go through periods of no motivation. The time change, cold weather and just boredom do, definitely, get to you. I agree that you should try to get outside as much as you can. I find running on my TM to be the most boring of all things. ;)

Kim: I'm getting excited now too. It's so close! Getting the bib numbers yesterday just made it so real. I will be walking around DTD in less than 4 weeks!!!!!

Shannon: Are you running at all right now? When is your next race? I've really been enjoying your trip report, by the way.

I had a setback. For those of you on the marathon thread, I'm sure you've already read this. I hurt my achilles on Tuesday. It hurt reallly bad. I decided to take the rest of this week and next week off until my long run next Friday. I stayed off of it yesterday and iced and massaged. The funny thing is, I feel a lot better today. I'm not even limping. So, it's going to be hard for me not to run. ;)

Oh Kim.. :confused3:confused3 Don't EVEN get me started.. but you know what.. I am okay with it. It really didn't seem like his heart was in it this year anyway... its better that he leaves now than later when we are worse and then all our recruiting opportunities go out the door.

Good luck with your 20 this weekend... I'll be doing a measly 7! :lmao:

My achilies hasn't bothered me.. I ran 3 on Tues and Thursday.. I've also started a run 5 walk 1 ratio.... I think I am going to follow that through the race. This race isn't a PR race for me anyway. Its my first 1/2 and I just want to have fun and finish it... We are going to do the Baltimore half in October and this one I am going to train better for.. I haven't cross trained AT ALL.. and I know I need to start doing that..

Hope everyone has a safe, fun and injury free weekend!! :thumbsup2

I'm running, but not as much as I would like to be...Im doing a toys for tots 5k this weekend and then I joined a training team for a large 10k here in Richmond called the Ukrops Monument 10k (they usually have over 30,000 participate) I have completed the race before, but now I am trying to work on my speed since I tend to be a slow poke!!

It boggles my mind that people can do the half and full for the goofy challenge...but I am sure you will do great :thumbsup2 Just give yourself time to heal even if you start feeling better!! My co worker has issues with her achilles and took time nursing it and just had a PR in the half here in Richmond...so hopefully you have the same luck :goodvibes

And thank you for reading my report!! I am getting to the part about the Wine & Dine half and I am drawing blanks on the race! :rotfl:

Quick Race Report:

So I've run the DC Jingle All the Way 10k since it started (5th running). It is the only race I've ever run that has the same weather every year: near freezing, cloudy/foggy, drizzle at the start, rain at the finish. Like clock work. but its a very fun race. This year (and maybe in past years) the start was at 7:30. Now I thought itw as at 7:45 so boy was I surprised when I heard 3 minutes till the start. I had jogged a mile from the car so I was rather warmed up. Qucik threw my bag to the side and got into the starting crowd in a random spot. Its a very flat 10k, with an out and back. This year the race was now 6000 or more people - its grown exponentially. On the return loop it was kinda crowded with people still heading out to the turn around. It cleared up with about a mile to go. finished in 42 and change - which I think is a new PR. Hung around afterwards with some friends, cheered them thru the finish. Good race.

I was doing really well with my training....until our family vacation to Disney for Thanksgiving. I ran a 10K on the 13th of November, and since then I have run 6 miles! UGH! I can't seem to find the time to get my runs in. It just seems like life is getting in my way! I am running the Princess and really need to get in gear. :confused3

Last weekend was a good run. Sprints at the gym weren't good this morning though. I was good, it was when I started cranking up the speeds the treadmills were acting funny~ speed wasn't right and the belts were skipping. I was jinxing them though b/c that happened on 3 of them!!! Things are winding down starting next week. I can't believe the race is finally here. I got inserts for the 1st time ever for my shoes and I love them. I've always used the Asics 2100 line and then after Nike the bottom of my feet would hurt when I ran. I had a short 3 miler on Saturday and they hurt with that so I got some cushioning ones. They're awesome.

So I'm slowly starting to get stuff together for the trip, I totally have OCD when it comes to things like that. But I am trying to figure out the whole film situation for my camera. Yes, it's an old one that uses film. So I've never been to WDW before, at least long enough to take pictures or see anything. We'll be there for 5 days and all the parks. I love to take pictures and currently have 4 rolls of 24, 96 pics. I'm debating whether or not to get 1 or 2 more packs of 4 rolls. I'm not bringing it to the race, b/c it's not a tiny digital one that can fit into my belt, so it'll just be for the hotel and the parks. So any suggestions on how may packs I should buy would be great. I'm thinking 2, and if there's some left over use them up later one but I'm not sure??? :confused3

Have to the remaining runs of training. Weather.com says we have a big storm of rain coming in on Friday through at least next Wednesday. Nice thing is taper starts next week so it won't be that bad.

I know it stinks once you fall off like that!! I think people like Jeff Galloway believe your long training runs are more important than multiple short ones during each week, so if you can at least build on that slowly. I really slacked before the Wine & Dine half and paid for it :rotfl:

Just did a "fun run" last night in Richmond...brrr...and fell along with 3 other people during the run due to some ice...ripped my running tights and hurt my knee...mainly hurt my ego :lmao:

3 weeks... 3 weeks... 3 weeks!!! This winter training stinks!!!! :lmao: its too dang cold!!!
8 miles this weekend.. then 9, then 10 then the 1/2!! I think I can.. I think I can..... :thumbsup2

I'm putting in my request for the weather I had on my 5 this morning for January. Mid 40s, no wind and light mist. Not even enough to make my clothes wet when I was done. It was absolutely perfect. However, it's not going to stay that way. We have a huge storm that has come in and will be here through at least X-mas. Tons and tons of rain until at least next Sunday.

The 5 was good, legs were a little lead-y, but I did leg weights yesterday so that was expected. 18-20 on Sunday, praying for no rain until I'm done. I can't believe this is the last long run of training. I'm so excited now. Got the free vouchers and lugagge tags in the mail yesterday. I don't even care about X-mas anymore, I want to go to WDW! :rotfl:

:yay: My sister comes in tomorrow for X-mas week! Poor thing, she leaves the cold and upcoming Nor'easter of Boston to Sunny CA that is going to be covered in clouds and rain. At least it'll be warmer.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Just got back from WDW last night and now I can concentrate on finishing up training for the Princess. I was relieved to see that even though I ate like a pig the entire week, I hadn't gained any weight as of this morning. :cool1:

I did get a lot of walking in, obviously, and got used to some COLD weather (why is it every time I decide to go to FL in December they set new record low temps??) so hopefully February will get here soon! The entire time I was walking around with the kids I kept thinking about what I'd do when I went back in Feb. :lovestruc

Now, I need to settle in, enjoy the holidays, and really try to finish up training! I'm supposed to jump back in and do 8 miles tomorrow, but we've got church and then are driving out of town for the first of many Christmas celebrations, so there just aren't enough hours in the day. Maybe I can get up super early and do it before church? We'll see...

Got 20 in yesterday. It was pouring and windy when I woke up Sunday morning. Got my tattoo touched up Sunday night so couldn't go Monday. But that's okay, weather wasn't the greatest Monday either. :rotfl: Have 14 this Sunday. I can't believe it's taper time already!!!

:santa:Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!!!:santa:
