Hi guys!!
I leave in the morning!,:cool1:
Kim and Tandy I hope you guys are feeling stronger! and I hope to see you guys this weekend!!
Meredith hope you start to feel better and I'll let you know how it goes! Fingers crossed!!

Shannon: Hope you enjoyed that long break! Maybe you'll get to finish that trip report now????

I leave for the airport in 1 day and 18 hours. I can't believe it's time for Goofy. The nerves have completely set in. I'm repacking over and over and can't seem to think straight. I just hope I can get through the 2 races upright. If my ankle holds out for the half, I can just walk/run the full. If it doesn't hold out, I'm just running through the pain. It's only a few hours of my life, right? Of course, then I have to spend the next 3 days in the parks. Hubby is prepared to rent a wheelchair if needed. ;)

I am actually working on finishing up my TR :rotfl: (ok slowly), but I am SOOOO sad since once that will be over, then I can't cling to the last vaca and there isn't a new one being planned this year :sad1:

I can't wait to hear all about the Goofy...hope you are having a great time :goodvibes

Everyone in WDW right now...Hope that you have an amazing weekend!!

Well, how did everyone do who went down for marathon weekend? I saw Matt's time (wow, by the way), but didn't see anyone elses yet.

I didn't see Matt, Kim or Disneybound while there. Atleast, not that I know of. ;) I had the best time though. I got my ankles both taped at the expo (thanks Kim). I got that bright pink and made sure to wear shorts so I looked like a fool. I loved the way people were staring at me. :thumbsup2

Both races were wonderful. My times were 1:48 and 4:55. I was 4 minutes off my goal for the half, but, according to my Garmin, ran 13.7 miles. Then, for the full, I just took it easy. A cone jumped out in front of me at mile 15, and I bit the dust. I have road rash on my knee, hip, shoulder and elbow on my right side. Plus, I am missing a large chunk of my pinkie knuckle. It's just gone. But, it pissed me off and made me get the job done. I did stop at a medical tent for a bandaid for the pinkie because it wouldn't stop bleeding. I got to run right behind the blind soldier for awhile and I crossed the finish for the full right behind Jeff Galloway. I shook his hand and thanked him for motivating me. I then explained that when we saw him at mile 23, it was our mission to beat him across the line. He laughed and took it well.

As this was my first Disney race, I was a little overwhelmed by the crowds. Especially trying to get to the corrals. I started in corral A for the half and C for the full. That A corral was intense. Those are some serious runners, let me tell you. But, I was passing lots of them (and being passed by plenty).

Anyway, it's done. I'm not hurting at all, and I have 3 honking medals to show for it. :thumbsup2

A really good trip, and a horrible race.

My hamstring was still bad, and I had to drop out b/w 8-9. If it was just the 1/2, I could have pushed through it, but with 17-18 still too go, I knew I couldn't go anymore. I woke up Sunday and I could feel the tightness in my hamstring, so I stretched more than normal and used the roller before we even left the hotel room. Started out okay, I could feel a slight twinge but nothing crazy, then around 4, it just tightened up and wouldn't relax. I made it to 8 or 9 and knew I couldn't go any further. The nice thing was that by the time I got to the medic tent, someone was already there and the van just pulled up. So I was able to get a ride back and make it in time to watch my dad finish his race. Still upset that I couldn't finish, and now I have the race shirt and the I did it 26.2 shirt I got at the expo and I didn't do any, so I can't even wear them!! And the ironic thing is that I got a medal for the marathon I couldn't finish and I'm still waiting for the necklace from the one I did finish. Although, I have to say that I've pretty much given up any hope that I'll see that one.

Tandy, great job on your races!!! Sorry about your fall though. Thank goodness it wasn't something worse. Glad the tape worked out for you.

Tripwise, it was awesome. All the parks and hotels so spread out took some getting used to, at DL everything's on top of each other. And being in FL, it was nice seeing all the SEC football stuff, especially the LSU stuff on Friday. Such a nice change from the PAC-10 and Stanford or USC stuff out here.

So runningwise... taking this week and next week off, no gym no running. Hopefully that will help, then pick it up again. Next major race is in June~ the RNR San Diego Marathon, so that'll be good.

Hope training is going well for the Princess runners!!

Hey everyone, so I got back wednesday, busy days at work obviously but while this program runs I have a few minutes of just waiting. So sadly I saw no one from the disboards around, at least none that I knew. I was staying in Animal Kingdom Lodge on the 6th floor Jambo.

I had a great trip and a very good race. 3:19:45 was my finishing time for the full. I started with the 3:20 group as I didnt want to go out too fast like Marine Corps. Stuck with them till we were around Beach Club and then just pulled ahead. I'll have a more exact race report later

Matt: Congratulations again on a great time. I would love someday to run a 3:30 marathon. But, since this was my first, and I was doing it after a half, I just had no idea what to expect. Now, I think I'm hooked. I saw very few WISHers as well. I even went to the Friday meet, but didn't meet too many.

Kim: I am SOOOOOO sorry you didn't get to finish. That just stinks! I guess it can give you something to shoot for for next year, right?;) At least you enjoyed your vacation. I didn't realize that this was your first trip to the World. I've never been to Disneyland, but I can imagine how much bigger Disneyworld is. I am just now confident after 4 trips. I was able to answer questions like an expert.

I am so sick right now. I started feeling bad Saturday after the half and by Sunday, I had lost my voice. Well, here we are on Friday, and I'm still sick. I have 0 energy. My son was sick before vacation, so I'm guessing that's what happened to me. My husband just started complaining last night, so he's probably got it now too. I haven't run since the full. My body felt fine to run by Tuesday, but I feel like my head's going to explode. Ugh!!!!!

HELLO ALL! :thumbsup2
Well I had a FABULOUS first 1/2 marathon experience! It was so much fun. I went down without my hubby and 2 boys and ran the race with my aunt (who is like a sister to me) and meet up with a bunch of people from high school and honestly had the best weekend ever!!

I ran it in 2:49, which is okay.. I wanted to be under 2:45 but I knew I would be stopping a lot to take pictures and such.. and then around mile 10 I twisted my ankle from going off and on the road so much trying to pass people that I had to walk for about 10 minutes to loosen it up.. I was really afraid that I was going to have to walk the rest it hurt so bad!

Here are some pictures from the weekend if you want to see.. I'm the dark hair one with the medal.. my aunt is the blonde..

Kim - I am SO SO SO sorry we didn't get to meet up.. by the time I got back to my room on Friday night I went to bed and I knew you would be asleep early on Saturday. :sad1: I am really bummed that we didn't get to meet up. And I am so sorry to hear about your race. I know how disappointed you must have been..:hug: But I am so glad that you had a nice vacation after.

Tandy - Awesome times!!! :thumbsup2 and ouch with the cones! Glad you are okay though and I hope you start to feel better.

Matt - DANG! you smoked it! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 that is awesome!

SOOOOO.. now what??? :lmao: I guess I'll have to go back in 2012 and run the full!!! :thumbsup2:cool1::thumbsup2:cool1:

It sounds like everyone had a great time last weekend! I wish I could have been there!

Less than 40 days until the Princess though. I absolutely cannot WAIT to get down there for my own jaunt through the parks!

I am SOOOOOO sorry you didn't get to finish. That just stinks! I guess it can give you something to shoot for for next year, right?;)

Thanks!! Definitely lit a fire that I will go back and run again, so I can truly appreciate the medal. I do have to admit Sunday was mentally a hard day and seeing everyone with the medals on Monday wasn't easy, but I figure not every race will be perfect and you can't always control injuries. Unfortunately or fortunately, I can't do WDW next year b/c.... I get to run the Honolulu Marathon in Dec!!:woohoo::banana: So that is my big travel race for the year, plus it's 3 weeks before WDW, so it would be too much to go to HI and then FL. But after experiencing the little that I did run and hearing about stories about the Goofy run, I made the decision that in 2012 I'm going back to run the Goofy!

Sorry about your ankle Leigh! Thankfully it wasn't bad and you were able to finish the race! And great time too!!

Don't worry about meeting up! We can do it another time!

I haven't run since last Sunday, and not running or going to the gym the past week has been weird! I keep waking up early, especially over the weekend, b/c I was used to getting up early. :rotfl2: It's really different!

Hope everyone has a great week!

So sorry about your injury. :(

Awesome about the HI marathon!! I have always wanted to go to HI.

However, 2012 is next year! So the Goofy is for 2013, right? Weird to think it's already 2011... time goes so freakin' fast!

Yeah, that's what I meant!! :rotfl: Still having problems with that on papers at work!!

Just checking to see how everyone is doing!

I managed 10 miles yesterday on the TM so now I feel a lot better about the half next month. I'll be really glad when it starts to warm up. I'm ready to go outside.

If you're at 10 now, you're gonna rock the 1/2 next month!!

If you want to come out to CA and train out here you can! I love the cold and it would be a nice change from here. This week and into next week it's supposed to be in the high 60's maybe even hit 70 or 72. My sister called this morning from Boston where it was -2!! That's just crazy.

I'm going out tomorrow morning for an easy 3-4. No race training for another month or so, so there's no pressure. Hopefully, my hamstring will be better. I feel it every once in a while, but not like I was over the past month. I really just ready to get back out there. I also signed up for a streching class early Friday mornings at the local community college so that should help even more.

I know, me too! But if I somehow come into money or win the lottery, I'm in. But 2013 will be a big WDW year for me and I'll definitely be back. I'll be there for Goofy in January, and my sister just talked to me about going there for her 30th that May. It falls the week after Expedition Everest, so I'm going out a couple days early to do that race! Hopefully it'll still be there, I've wanted to do that one forever!! It looks like so much fun!

I could be talked into doing the goofy! :lmao:

oh and guess what I just did???

Booked a CRUISE on the FANTASY for 2012!! YEHAWWWWW! only 504 more days!!! 7 glorious days at sea!! :woohoo::woohoo::yay::yay:

Ooohhh!!! A cruise sounds fun. I've never been on one before!!

I signed up yesterday for the Bay to Breakers 12K race in May. It's the 100th year of the race and everyone out here says it one of those races that you have to run in your lifetime so I figured why not? Plus, b/c it's the 100th, they're giving out medals this year. Reg is crazy though, it's still 3 months away, and they have 3 corrals up front for people who want to run vs walking and enjoying the party and the 1st 2 corrals were already sold out. So I got into the 12 minute corral and hopefully I'll be able to move up a little, but with 55,000 people it might be a little tough. And this year they said no nudity and no alcohol! Darn it!! I was already to run through San Fran with a bottle of Patron nude!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Question/poll for everyone for help on the DL Half Labor Day weekend:

Do I do the 5K on Saturday along with the 1/2 Sunday?
I've done it the past 4 years, but I don't know if I want to take a break or not. A short hop down on Sat. and back home Sun, or go down Fri. afternoon and back Sun. I need your advice.

Hi everyone. Sorry I've been MIA for awhile. I've been in kind of a winter funk/rutt, and haven't had much to say.

I ended up being sick for about 3 weeks after Goofy, so it's just been nice to be well for a little while. When I first got back, I was running, but then, just didn't feel like it. I have managed to run twice this week (a 4 miler and a 6 miler), so I feel back to normal. I think I just don't like TM running. I have also signed up for a once a week boot camp starting in 2 weeks, and I have my beloved zumba once some of this snow goes away!

Kim: Why not do both? If you always have, and you feel up to it, go for it!
Running nude sounds painful, at least for my girls, but the Patron would help with that!

DisneyBound: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE going on cruises! How great for you!

And, you guys should both definitely do Goofy! I had the most amazing time pushing my physical limits and boundaries. I had no idea how much that accomplishment could mean to me. And, the bling is awesome! :thumbsup2

Meredith: I agree that you sound completely ready for this race! You will do great. I have been looking at the fun costumes people are wearing. It looks great. Are you wearing one?

Glad you're feeling better! You have to come back with an update on how your boot camp is. I've always been curious about those.

And about the running... I feel the same way you do. I have no idea how people did it, but you would be surprised by the amount of people who used to do the race that way. But they're trying to make it a more family thing vs a party race. I don't know how I would react if I saw someone running? I think I would bust out laughing!!

Hey guys, sorry work has been rather busy recently I havent had any time to really hop on. I hope everyone's doing well. Did 8 today, took a fun spill on the ice and taht cut that short. Nothing but a bruise and some scratches, more hurt my pride than anything else haha.
