I can't. :(

I have a stress fracture in my shin and will be in an air cast until at least Dec 28th.

Oh no!!!! When did you find this out? I am so sorry. Dec. 28th is such a long time! At least you caught it before it became worse, right?

I already signed up for the turkey trot. I love these challenges. I will be running a 22 miler next Saturday, so I think that counts for the 5 and 10k.

Sounds like everyone is back on track with their training. Good job everyone. :thumbsup2

I found out on Wednesday. 6 weeks in an air cast, no running until I go back. I am allowed to swim, bike, and will be allowed to play hockey in 2-3 weeks.

Oh man 6 weeks. Thats epic. Did you have any major plans (Disney Marathon?) I'm back out of the rut, ran 5-6 miles with a running group near my house yesterday, did 18 miles today, gorgeous runs both times. both involved trails at some point (the 18 mile was mostly on paved rail trails, and the 5-6 mile had a couple miles on trails thru a local park). Just love the frost on grass. the park route had you run out to an observation area for a wetland, really nice to see the sun rising over it.

Yeah, it sucks. I had originally planned to do a half in Charlotte in Dec, but had to back out due to a work trip that overlapped. Thankfully, I guess!

It's mostly interfering with hockey and general training for the Princess Half in February. The sports med doc seemed to think I will still be able to do the Princess, though, and is going to give me a training plan when I go back Dec 28th.

Glad that you are out of your rut!!

Got a 10K in tonight and now I need a shower and bed. I thought I had my training plan set up for a shorter fast distance this weekend and then the 10K distance next weekend (which was perfect since I'll do the Virtual Turkey Trot next weekend) but I realized when I looked at the schedule that I was supposed to do the 10K TODAY instead. Oops.

So, I'll just do them two weekends in a row. No biggie.

I'll admit, though, Sunday night is not my best time. I was exhausted before I even hit 3 miles. Ugh!

Kat- Sorry about your stress fracture and the cast. Hopefully it will heal a little bit earlier than expected.

Got a good run in this morning. It was so cold, went out w/ arm sleeves, gloves, my hat and the band thingy that covers our ears. I loved it! :goodvibes Lungs didn't, but my body did. I got home around 7 and at 8, it finally hit 36 degrees. CA weather is crazy this year!! Tomorrow morning is 10-12 depending on how I feel, judging by today's run, it'll be 12. Sunday is 16, hopefully the rain will be gone again. It was raining like cats and dogs Saturday-Tuesday morning so runs were kinda on hold.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and if you're shopping on Friday, good luck w/parking and deals!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!! Hope everyone has a safe and fun start to the holiday season :goodvibes

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I got a 4 miler in and carb loaded for my 22 miles tomorrow! :thumbsup2

Happy Thanksgiving Team!!

I ended up being able to participate in a local 5K Turkey Trot today after all and got a PR! I was very pleased. Now, I'm just ready to get through the work day tomorrow and on to the weekend! Thank goodness for Fridays (of course, it love it a little MORE if I were actually off tomorrow, but beggars can't be choosers ;) )

Ok fellow teammates...I need your help! I have decided even before the new year to really kick my running/working out/losing weight goals into gear :goodvibes I was curious if you guys tend to run alone or with groups? how did you meet the people you run with? I am fairly new here (Richmond, VA) so its been a little tough for me

So richmond is a fairly large city, I bet there are several organized running groups in the area. Thats a great way. Also local running stores often host runs a couple days of the week. Finally run local races, not the large ones like Richmond Marathon, but local 5k's and you'll also meet people that way.

Ditto what Matt said. We have a store called the Sports Basement here and they do weekly runs, but I don't know if they are a national chain. If you have a Nike Store they might do them, the big one up in San Francisco does them out here. But check with your local running store, also maybe the Road Runners or Fleet Feet stores. You could also google running groups in your area to see if there are any that are listed. Hope that helps!

Thank you guys :goodvibes I found myself at least one little group that I can keep up with (i am sort of a slow poke) and I looked up a local race I plan on doing next year and signed up for the training team!! :goodvibes Very excited, thanks again!!

Got a couple short runs in this week. Pushed myself on the speed work yesterday and am paying a little bit for it today. Quads and lower calves are a tad sore. This weekend is a fun and exciting 18. I'm hoping that the rain will have already blown threw or will hold off at least until mile 16. It's gonna be cold in the morning so running in wet clothes are not fun. Hopefully more people will put up their X-mas lights this weekend, I love running early in the morning with people's lights on. It's so pretty and quiet, I love it.

So I was looking at races for next year. I found out that the Honolulu Marathon is going to be on my b-day next year! :woohoo: I'm thinking a week in Hawaii for b-day/early X-mas can't be that bad right? Even if you have to run 26 miles? All the more reason to celebrate that night. I'm thinking that that race will become a definite if I don't get into NYC. Does anyone know anybody who's run that one before? I'm curious about the weather and the course. I know, running along the ocean in paradise is horrible!!! :rotfl2:

Hope everyone has a great weekend and the weather isn't that bad yet!!

Hi everyone!,
Shannon good luck with finding running buddies. I am the opposite. I like to run alone.
Kim, i think running in Hawaii sounds FABULOUS!!!!

Well I've been sidelined all week. Last week my achillies tendon was sore and i think I either tore it or strained it really bad. I could get past 3 miles on Sunday. I was KILLING me!! It even hurt to walk. So I have rested all week. No need to completely tear it. It's feeling better so wish me luck on my 7 miles this weekend. It sucks too because I am right at a point where I really look forward to my long weekend runs. I actually like them better than the 3-4 mile runs during the week. I about cried when i couldn't get through the 7 miles this past weekend. I know I could have easily done it.
Oh well. What can you do.

Kim. Good luck with your long run this weekend and I hope the pretty lights are up for you!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey everyone, so I'm working, yes its a friday night. at least i'm doing so from home. Did 11 miles yesterday, didnt run today. Gonna either do 5 or 18 tomorrow, and then whatever or 18 Sunday, depending how I feel in the am.

Next Sunday is the washington DC Jingle All the Way 10K. Anyone near the area that's looking for a pretty fun and remarkably flat 10k, I'm going to be running it. Its a lot of fun :). Anyone else have any good Jingle Jog type races coming up?
