I am in Frisco, almost all the way to the end of Hatteras Island (right before the ferry).

Look up Frisco, NC on Google Maps and you will think OMG how is anything built there!

My 10 miler yesterday went pretty well. I taped and ace bandaged the shin, and it appears to be no worse than it was before for the run/walk. I took it very, very easy though... went with the 13 pace group (so training at about 15-16mm) and walked the last mile or so in.

Hope that everyone is having a great weekend!!

That is great, Kat! My 9 miler went similar today. (This board keeps me honest!) I did 9, walked a lot in the last mile. I probably could have pulled one more mile, but definitely not 4 more! Pace probably around 14-15 range. Going for distance right now, then pace.

8 miles today. I had to do it inside on the treadmill again and I am SO SLOW on the treadmill! Man! I did have to stop a few times and the treadmill once again decided to stop timing me at about 6 miles in, but it literally took me 17 minutes a mile average. That irritates me! I feel like I'm having to put forth more effort to keep up the steady pace on the treadmill (and to keep it from running away with me) but I'm getting significantly slower times than I do outside for the same distances. Very annoying.

One of these days I'm going to quit complaining. Honest. :lmao:

Only 62 days until my Half Marathon. I'm starting to get nervous!

Meredith, I always seem to have slower times on the treadmill too. I don't know why that is, but it is always the case! I'm concerned about what will happen this winter. It likely will be a return to the treadmill. I can probably figure out how to run in the cold, but I don't know about the snow and ice yet. So I guess I'll cross this bridge when I come to it. Now I'm still trying to keep from getting too hot!

I'm getting nervous about my fall 1/2 too... :) A week or so ago, I was feeling fairly confident. But the 9 miles I did today was tough. :)

I havent had time to do more than 6 miles lately  I do not feel prepared at all for the wine and dine half  I need to get a kick in the butt and start pushing myself a little harder...I cannot wait to get to WDW, my ME information came in this past weekend  So excited

Wow...where is everyone today?

I seriously could not believe it, but it was only in the upper 80s here today! I was shocked beyond belief! So, I made sure to do my 3 miles during my lunch break. It was nice! (Nicer than usual anyway!) I did speed up a bit too. 46 minutes for a little over 3 miles. That's good for me! I was pleased.

Hello new nameless team! I can't believe you guys chatted for 15 pages before I got around to posting!

I'm a newish runner, just started last summer with no athletic prowess. After getting nowhere on the C25K thing, I found that run/walk is the thing for me. Even managed to make it through a few half marathons that way!

Now my runner buddy and I are looking forward to Wine and Dine half (36 days away?!). Still trying to talk him into the full marathon in January :)

ugh, it's raining today! i need to do 3 miles. i would definitely run in the rain but i can't take my son out in the jogger in the rain (i need to get a rain cover and of course the walmart site that sells the cover isn't working).

Nice cool day in DC today. In the 70s. Did something along the lines of 12 miles before work. Get back to the gym to see I have a few missed calls from work, oh no the servers are down I'm told as I call back. I run over to the office, sans shower. Nope, no issue, someone typed a URL in wrong. Brilliant.

Today was supposed to be a rest day for me, but it was another nice 85-ish day and I couldn't pass it up! So, I went for a VERY slow (but hilly, just to get some work in) 3.1 miles at lunch. I like keeping my short distances to 3.1 miles. It makes me feel like whenever I go for a 5K, it'll be like a regular day. :lmao:

Tomorrow will definitely be a rest day for me. I'm thinking it'll be raining at my usual lunch hour. We shall see!

I do that too for short runs.

I am taking a few weeks off from running. My shin is no worse from the 10 miles last weekend, but I want it to be totally better before starting hard core training again.

I have an ice hockey tournament this weekend... games Fri at 6PM, Sat at noon and 9PM, and Sunday at noon. I don't think I can do a 10 miler Sat AM as well.

Then, I will be in WDW Sept 5-13th. So, I am targeting Sept 15h for a restart, with the goal of a PR (under 2:49) for the OBX half on Nov 14th.

I am also signing up for the Dec 11th Thunder Road for anyone who wants to join me. ;)

Kat - I'm sorry your shin is still bothering you. I think that taking some time off to recouperate is a smart idea. You'll get to test it out while walking around WDW and I'm sure you'll be more than ready for OBX.

So we finally had a heat wave the past couple of days. It's almost over today, which is good. It was insane out here! On Tuesday it was still over 100 at 6:15!!! Hopefully we won't have one now next week for the race. :wizard: Beautiful coastal fog in DL next weekend! :wizard: Got a small run in early Tuesday morning and then gym and hill repeats yesterday. Supposed to do a 12-13 this morning, but watched a movie late last night and couldn't wake up this morning. So it'll have to be tomorrow, then rest Saturday and hopefully 17 on Sunday. Countdown is on til next Thursday when I get a massage!!! Cannot wait until that. My legs are crying for one right now!

Hope everyone had/s good runs this week and shin problems ease up! :cheer2: If you guys are using the compression sleeves, how are they working out? Looking at the shorts for my hips? Not sure though.

Sorry for being quiet the last week or so...Just have had a lot on my plate. Still doing my normal 11 miles a week and looking at adding an extra mile for a few sessions to start working up towards a 5k.

I have been what you may call a SUPER SLACKER this past week!!! My new co worker has encouraged me to join the gym she goes to, so hopefully I will be able to afford that soon :goodvibes Until then I need to be running on my time off during the week, but laziness has set in

Hi all! I've gotten the all clear from the doctor on the stress fracture, with "take it slow and gradually increase distances". So, I will begin again on Monday. I am going to try through the weekend to take some leisure walks and see how it goes. I sure don't want to be knocked down again!! The weather here in South Louisiana has been wonderful, no humidity and a nice breeze blowing. I wish it would stay! But I know the hot, humid days will be back soon.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday everyone!!

My weekend is jam packed and I'm still trying to figure out when on earth I'm going to find 3 hours to try and get my 11 mile LD in! We shall see!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I only ran 4 miles total this week. I was planning on getting back on the treadmill tonight but I have bronchitis. Ordinarily I'd at least TRY it but since DH surprised me the other day by telling me that we're going to WDW this weekend I need to get my rest so I can enjoy Saturday and Sunday in Disney with the family.

OOOHHH--- DH introduced me to SparkPeople now, too. We have however decided that calories don't count in Disney and are going to engorge ourselves for two days. Can't wait!

I hit 1/4 Marathon today! super duper! I almostquit running this week! I had a stressful week and did not get in all my runs...so had to dig deep to get my mjo back up and running....somebody used Disney Magic Marathon as their "carrot"....It worked....I got up and out, the usual goal, and rocked my 6miles. So...I'm back on and ready for the Princess in Feb. AND I have promised myself a garmin watch in 3 weeks if I get my mileage in....Cant wait!

KAT:sorry about your shins....the injury factor is bummer. You are such an inspiration!

Hi everyone!

I have been MIA from here and running. Just couldn't get a good feel for it and no energy.
However, I had signed up for a 5K and I did that this morning. There were times I thought I would just drop dead, but I did make it to the finish line and feel good about that.

It was somewhat hilly but I finished in 37.56 which is better than I usually do but I surely wasn't ready for it today. Oh well, back at Monday morning :)

I hope you are all doing well and I am sorry I haven't been around cheering you on.
