I did it! I got up super early and got in my 11 miles on the treadmill (since I didn't have time to do it outside since there was a Boy Scout thing this morning and I needed to be home). Besides the fact that the power flickered a few times and that made the TM a little bit schizo...I had no probems! I had already decided that I was going to go slower than usual in order to make sure that I could do the 11 easily, but I ended up averaging 15:45 per mile. Maintaining anything under sweep pace is really good for me, so I'm super surprised that I managed this average without trying this morning! I honestly did a lot of it at what seemed closer to a 17 min pace so I wouldn't tire out and lose motivation.

So, I'm pleased with my personal best distance so far, and a halfway decent time.

Now - a busy day ahead!

Congrats! That is fantastic! :woohoo:

Yea I was super lazy today. I havent run as much as I'd like. There's a running group around here I ran into while getting breakfast, they had just done a 3 mile run so I didnt feel THAT bad about it. But they're meeting up tomorrow for a 10 mile or so run so I'm gonna try to get to that.

So onto some admin stuff, I'm going to modify my original post at one point or another to have some bio's, information about what people's upcoming events, etc are. As we're still a growing team it might be a good thing to get people to catch on. Also I'm gonna see if I can figure out reseting that poll (might have to bother an admin to do it as I dont see the ability to edit a poll). This way we can get all our new and amazing name ideas onto the poll and reset it so people can actually vote. Also maybe changing our title once we get a name (that I know I can do as well - just not so sure about the poll quite yet).

The other way I know I can do this is by starting a new thread, I just wouldn't want anyone left behind. Its been really great watching the team come together, quite happy with how its turned out.

I like the idea of the bios for all the members. I really feel like the came together quickly and we all seem to 'click'. Considering I'm new to this, I'm really glad to have ended up here!

I don't think it would be a big deal to just start over with a new thread. Especially since the end of the month is coming up quickly anyway. I might be easier just to do that anyway. I think everyone would be able to follow over to a new thread without any problem...

Also everyone, please check out this recent post about the potential future of the "social teams." Obviously we're still putting together our roster, etc (read your captain is lazy :p ), but either way its a discussion we'd need to have about accepting new members/etc. I'm personally for accepting anyone who wants to join, especially for the near future, but this is our team and I'm just one voice. Obviously if the size of our team approaches the size of the WISH group there no longer becomes a need for a separate team, so thats also something that needs to be considered, altho I don't see us growing that fast anytime soon.

Obviously don't need to stir the pot :stir: or cause any kind of contention. Another thing for our poll. I'm about to start a surveymonkey account. Haha.

I am okay with starting a new thread if needed. You could always link this one to the new one so one could catch up if they wanted to do so.

The bios and schedule of each members events would be fun!
Thanks again Matt -

:goodvibes Thank you for leading this group for us. I agree a new thread would be fine, and leaving a link to it in this group makes sense so that it can be easily located.

Also as much you want to make sure everyone is included, I know the other groups set a cut off period and stopped accepting new members, I assumed we would do the same, and then in the future other new members would start their own team. Like you said if it grows too large it doesnt make sense to be a seperate group anymore, and you wont be able to keep up with individuals events/goals,etc

I hit 1/4 Marathon today! super duper! I almostquit running this week! I had a stressful week and did not get in all my runs...so had to dig deep to get my mjo back up and running....somebody used Disney Magic Marathon as their "carrot"....It worked....I got up and out, the usual goal, and rocked my 6miles. So...I'm back on and ready for the Princess in Feb. AND I have promised myself a garmin watch in 3 weeks if I get my mileage in....Cant wait!

Congrats on the 1/4 Marathon. I like the idea of the "carrot," I may just have to steal it from you! :goodvibes

Meredith! You are my hero! I honestly do not know how you do that. You have willpower like no other!

Hi all! I've gotten the all clear from the doctor on the stress fracture, with "take it slow and gradually increase distances". So, I will begin again on Monday. I am going to try through the weekend to take some leisure walks and see how it goes. I sure don't want to be knocked down again!!
Congrats on being cleared from your doctor!

Ditto on the bio/upcoming events! I like that idea. I'm easy- so starting a new thread or staying with this one works for me either way!

Got a long run in this morning. I am in desperate need of some new legs right now. I have a feeling the rest of the day will be lounging around and relaxing!

Have a great rest of the weekend everyone

OK, I'll wait to see what happens when the poll closes, I'll figure it out then.

Met up with that running group, nice people, should've paid more attention to what the course was gonna be, me and this one guy ended up adding an extra mile, whoops, all of a sudden we're looking at the wave of runners behind us as we're heading towards them, whoops.

Good evening everyone! I ran 10 miles this morning - my last long run before the DL Half next Sunday. This week is probably going to crawl by since I want to be in DL sooooo bad :rotfl:

I hit 1/4 Marathon today!

KAT:sorry about your shins....the injury factor is bummer. You are such an inspiration!

Yay on the 1/4 marathon!!

My shins are MUCH MUCH better, thankfully!

Yesterday I did 11.5 miles with my run club, with 1 taped shin and the compression sleeves on both, and today I only have a twinge here and there. Well, my hips are sore but that's because...

I also played ice hockey on Fri at 6PM, and yesterday at noon and 9:30PM. We lost all our games but had fun anyhow. The fun was helped by beer in the locker room after the last game, and then a parking lot party.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Glad you got your mojo back! Get yourself that garmin! You will love it!!

Hi everyone!

I have been MIA from here and running. Just couldn't get a good feel for it and no energy.
However, I had signed up for a 5K and I did that this morning. There were times I thought I would just drop dead, but I did make it to the finish line and feel good about that.

It was somewhat hilly but I finished in 37.56 which is better than I usually do but I surely wasn't ready for it today. Oh well, back at Monday morning :)

I hope you are all doing well and I am sorry I haven't been around cheering you on.

CONGRATS on the 5K! I think you did awesome! :thumbsup2 keep up the great work!

Thank you Matt for all that you are doing for our little group! :thumbsup2 I am fine with starting a new thread too.. I don't think we all would get lost..

I bet its nice to run around DC.. I live in Maryland and have meetings down in Georgetown every now and then and see all the runners and think it must be nice to run down there.. plus you have georgetown cupcakes! YUM!!! :lmao:

Am I too late to join in the fun??? Hope not! I've been following along and really enjoying it. And I feel especially at home with the other Tarheels here and others who've I've gotten to "know" on other threads!

By way of introduction, I'm really new to running-- I began at the end of this past June because I needed to exercise for weight loss and the thought of running a 5K through the Magic Kingdom was too much to resist! So I started the C25K program and am currently on Week 6/Day 1. Wanting something else to focus and motivate me after the Oct 2 5K, I'll begin training for the Princess Half when I get back home.

I've loved discovering the WISH boards and benefiting from such tremendous knowledge and inspiration that is so generously shared! But I've always known Disney people are some of the best people!

I have a couple of random thoughts on a team name... That is if ideas are still being accepted. How about Rock N Rollercoasters? (or Rock N Rollerrunners) :) I also thought of Big Thunder Mountain Runners. I obviously liked the earlier idea of using popular rides as inspiration!

Today was my long run day. I did 4.6 miles. I really need to find a local running partner. I need someone to push me when I feel like i need to walk. Since if i start walking in the second half of my run I have a hard time starting running again.

I had my first official 'race nightmare' last night. I dreamt I had made it down to the Myrtle Beach Half Marathon that I have scheduled in less than 2 months. I was there with a friend. For some reason, she was holding me back and we didn't get to the Expo to pick up our bibs until it was too late. I broke in anyway but ended up in the wrong line and was mortified. (Although I ended up in the line for fried chicken, so I guess it could have been worse :lmao: ).

Then, race morning, I couldn't get out and didn't make it to the start. I saw the runners go past, and I couldn't get there in time. I was so upset!

Talk about a case of the subconscious jitters! I didn't realize I was THAT nervous! :confused3

Welcome fellow NCer!! Concord not too far from Asheville.....this is an Super site for us! I would love to know who all is planning the Princess 1/2 in Feb??

I have been trying for weeks to get DH interested in losing weight with me. He has indirectly been losing weight since I don't keep any junk in the house anymore. This weekend while we were visiting Mickey's House I told him that we both could get 10 bucks for every pound we can lose between this week and when we go to WDW in December. I think I finally caught his attention.

Ate lots of junky food this weekend and WOW did it make me feel awful. Had an awesome time during our whirlwind trip, but I am so glad to be home and eating healthier food. Getting my sparkpeople tracking solid. If you want to find me on there I'm KRohrbachRN.

I have a 2.5 miles date with the treadmill tonight, too. Can't wait!

Great incentive! Keep going and good luck on your 2.5 miler tonight!

My uncles are in a big group that does that and it works!! They have "meetings" 4 times a year to weigh in and the set a goal for the amount they want to lose. If they don't meet the goal, it's $10 a pound to every person. Sometimes, they make some good money! Hope you can beat your husband!! :goodvibes
