WISH team WDW Marathon weekend meets

All good points on POFQ...I hadn't thought about the overflow from POR and I know there's going to be a fair amount of marathon folk at POFQ/POR.

I haven't been to CSR in years. I know Pop has plenty of room (and tie-dye cheesecake )

Here's menus for both from AllEars:

Pepper Market does include the gratuity. Is anyone on the team staying at CSR? I'm pretty sure we have a few people at Pop.

It looks like both of them have plenty of carbo-loady options, with Pop being slightly less expensive on the whole and having a couple of different options. (I can vouch for the power of a good pre-race Lo Mein).

Either one if fine with me.... just point me in the right direction.

Mel - Either one looks great. We are staying at POP because my kids love it there, but DH and I enjoy PM also. Should we just go with a majority rule? I vote Pop Century. Do you want to post a poll?

DH and I are staying at the POP Thurs - Sun then switching over to AKL for a few days. Pop would be convenient for me.

As for the other gatherings, I'm planning on being at the 'W' tent for the half. However, I may be one of the last coming across the finish line. Will there still be anyone there?

For the full, I want to be somewhere to cheer everyone on. Not sure where yet. I will try to make it to the 'W' tent as well.

I would like to do the illuminations but that's probably already closed. And, I'm not sure at this time if I could do it.

Monday - another wait and see at this time. Ugh! If I were by myself, I would definitely do it.

My vote goes with a nice place to visit with our WISH Team. My priority on vote will be to be able to move about and chat with our group. I missed that last time.So cast my vote to that location.

I think it sounds like Pop would be the one based on the bit of description? I'm not familiar with either location and will defer to anyone over that.

I've booked my flight and hotel now, and I'll be getting in Thursday night -- staying at the Swan. My family isn't coming after all, and so it is just me.

I'm in for Friday night, running the 1/2 and meeting up at "W", and the Illuminations dessert party.

I'm also planning on checking out the Pleasure Island post-Marathon celebration Sunday night (after the dessert party) if anyone else is interested in going too.

Breakfast on Monday morning depends on how late Pleasure Island goes.

Krista and I vote for the POP, too, if we're actually keepin track of votes. (Actually, Krista voted for All-Star Movies since we'll be there that night, but I told her that wasn't one of the choices. She's so selfish. )

I'm guessing wherever we meet, it may not be quite as crowded at 4:00 or 4:30 as opposed to a couple of hours later. So I bet we'll be fine on crowds. Plus, for those of us with larger groups, we can send one or two people from the fam through the line to get food and the rest can wait and mingle with the team.

Since we're staying at POR that would have worked great for us. Selfish, I know. So it really doesn't matter where you guys choose. Although I have eaten at the Pop food court and thought it was pretty good.

We are out for Friday because our flight doesn't even land until 3:50. DH and I are a definite for the Illumination Dessert Party and the breakfast on Monday morning right before my massage! I'm so looking forward to meeting everyone and celebrating my first marathon finish.

DH (wfloyd), DS, and I will be there Friday night. We will also try to be at the Monday morning meet if the boy cooperates. I know Bill will be at the WISH tent for the half and the full. Billy and I will be at the tent if we get transportation worked out. Can't wait to see everyone!!!

Same deal as last year...meet around 4pm, chat, take a group photo, then eat, etc.

We'll be at WDW next weekend and are planning to pop over to POP to check things out a bit more.

I'm going to try and meet up with everyone at the "W" after the half marathon! My boyfriend is not running but he'll be there too.

I can't make it to any of the other meet-up events, though. We're driving in from Boca Raton on Friday afternoon after work, and just hoping to squeak into the Expo prior to closing to pick up my race number. Then it's off to rest at the AKL for me for that night. We are leaving to drive back home Sunday, so we'll miss the meetings post-marathon as well.

But I look forward to meeting any of you after the half marathon! I haven't posted much so I hardly know anyone on this board but I promise I'm quite friendly.

Chimera, we may be at the Mega Mouse Meet on Sat if Barry's injured ankle holds up. He took a softball off it last week and thought it might be broken. Finally got an x ray today and looks not to be broken but still very swollen and sore. Sad thing is - I think he STILL walks faster than me!

I will keep one eye out for you if we go.

We will be there for the Fri night meet on Marathon weekend wherever it is.

I'll be heading to the W tent post Half and tell Susan and Cathy to meet there too.

We arrive early in the morning and will be coming from OKW so we will head to the proper corner for Pre-race mental support

I'm not sure about Friday night simply because we're basket cases and plan on eating in the room but I will see if we can depart whichever park we're at and detour thru POP

From the looks of our bib#'s we'll be in the last wave for the Half. I'm 33116 and Susan & Cathy have lower #'s but close enough for us to be 99.99% sure they are with me in the last wave.

OH!!! We'll be at the Expo arriving on the 1st bus from OKW. Which I think in 2006 the bus left OKW around 2 pm. So look for us to be wandering outside with the Pals before hand. Our plan is to return on Friday to catch the Penguin if he gives a talk so if you go Friday you might find us there sometime too

Thursday evening I believe we are heading to MGM to catch the lights and in 2006 we saw Santa Goofy so we hope to find him again. I'll be wearing my bracelet and on Thursday we're planning on wearing DL 1/2 Marathon yellow shirts and Friday we'll be in our WDW 1/2 Marathon shirts. LOL

Can't wait to see everyone, stay warm this weekend and safe training wishes to!!!

Does look like Pop Century food court has won out over the Pepper Market at CSR. So let's plan to meet at Pop around 4pm on Friday, Jan 5, 2007. We'll chat, take a group photo, eat, chat, eat...etc.
