Hola !!!

I cruised on the Wonder last fall and hope that someone out there can help me out re: my next cruise. Since Disney doesn't do Alaska (yet) I have been researching other lines for next summer. I have narrowed it down to HAL or Princess. I have actually had two really bad phone interactions with Princess, and was wondering if anyone has cruised on Princess, and what was the customer service like ? I know that I am totally spoiled by Disney, but I have to go to Alaska with someone else. Any feedback ??

We have never been on another cruise line, can't help. Would love to know which is the best also. DH is a commerial fisherman, he would love to go to Alaska. A DCL would be great for the whole family.

We went on a holland America Alaska cruise for our honeymoon. We loved it. It was our fis=rst real cruise ( I had been on a one day one). I loved it and would highly recomend it. It was a very sophicated cruise. Most of the people were older (we were 22 and 23), but we had a great time. The scenery was just beautiful. You may not see Mickey, but you get to see bald Eagles, seals, dolphins and whales.

We are planning on doing Princess to Alaska some time in the near future. They are suppose to be great, and specialize in Alaska Cruises. If you have kids, princess would be better. You should try the new Diamond Princess which sailes out of Seattle. If you got any questions just ask. I have reasearched it very well because we were going to do that next summer but with us now doing DCL 10 day, and many other vacations planned we are unable to go next summer. Maybe will go summer 2005.
Sorry to Ramble on!LOL

I just received my RCL brochure today! We're planning Alaska for 2005 or 2006 - did you look at RCL? From what I've heard, Princess is a good for kids, HAL is excellent for service. The age group on HAL will be significantly higher than the other lines too.

I am also looking into an Alaska cruise for 2005. My former boss just came back from the Celebrity Summit and he said his kids loved it (DD9 and DS17). I went to AAA to get brochures and I said "we've been spoiled by Disney so I need something almost as good". The agent said Princess or Royal Carribean. I think both Princess and RC have new boats for the Alaska itinerary and they look really great. But not Disney!

:D

Hola Again, I'm actually pretty old myself, so I'll fit in ok with the HAL crowd, I guess. I am very spoiled by DCL and Disney services in general. Anyway, apparently the HAL schedule is not avail for July 04 yet. Y2K MOM, what was the cabin like ? The food ? Did you do any spa stuff ? Price ? :p

Another really great option for Alaska is Celebrity. They will allow more than 4 people per cabin, a big plus for us as we have 5. They have a lot of programming for children and the service is excellent. I have never sailed with Celebrity but do know many families that have. I do know Disney has been considering an Alaskan cruise and when we were on board last may, took a survey about it.

Hope this helps,
Michele

I will look around for my pictures. That was before I began scrapbooking:) Our room stewart said we had the honeymoon suite, cause it was the cheapest room. We had a inside stateroom, I think it had a queen bed. The bed was huge. The people across the hall had a porthole, but it was nothing like the DCL oceanview. The service was excellent. My DH's teeth are sensitive and he asked for ice with his coffee on the 1st day. After that no matter where he ordered coffee he also got a cup of ice with out asking. I remember seeing some children on the ship, but I don't think they had any special activities for them. Even thought there were a lot of older people on the ship Dh and i were never bored. We found lots of things to do. This was 6 years ago so things may have changed. Again I will try to find some pictures.

I also give my vote for HAL!
My husband and I did their 7night inside passage cruise last spring with my mother and father in law. It was absolutely amazing from beginning to end.
The customer service is very comprable to Disney as they have great attention to detail and want to constantly make the passenger happy!
We had a catagory A on the Ryndam and the stateroom was virtually identical to the catagory 6 on DCL as far as squre footage goes.
The food was also WONDERFUL, actually a little better than Disney, in my opinion.
My mother in law did a few of the spa activities and said they were heavenly, but really on an Alaska cruise the destination is much more important than the ship.
Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help! It's an amazing cruise that I think everyone should be able to take. Now if we could just get Mickey up there!! ;)
