WISH Away The Pounds~ Marvelous May 2014 Challenge! *All Welcome!*

Good morning!

I have made it 8 days without a Coke! :cool1: Finally feel like I am through the worst of it. Now time to work on some of my other bad habits. Like all the potato chips I have been stress eating....:) I knew I needed to get the coke under control first before trying to do anything else.

Jill--same here with the weather. It has been close to 90 here this week. There is no moderate. I do prefer the heat, so not complaining. :) Hope the run in with the pizza went well. I bet that 5k was fun!

Great job getting those miles in Pamela! Congrats to your DD on her internships!

Sounds like that running group is really working for you Lisah.:goodvibes I have not run a race since last November--and I can tell. I am just very under motivated. (Below unmotivated. ;)) We usually do a 10k in July, but haven't even registered yet. Maybe I should look for something in June to encourage me to do more than walk a couple miles a day....

*****
so the chips are out of the house...because I ate the rest of them, so now begins 'no chips and no coke.' I am planning on zero potato chips for the rest of May, and then I will try adding back in the snack bags on occasion. I love chips so much. I don't know why, but I do. I made them an occasional snack before, so I KNOW I can do it again. Just need to detox for a couple of weeks. :)

Maybe I should have gone cold turkey with all of this stuff, but that just wasn't working this time. I am feeling pretty positive about the no coke!

Mike is traveling back from Indy tonight, and they are calling for severe weather, so send good thoughts that it is a non-event.:goodvibes

So I have a juicing question. Or more a topic for conversation, I guess.

I was reading about juicing and one guy was making the argument that you should get a juice extractor rather than using a masticating juicer (or high speed blender) because the point of juicing is to give your insides a rest and get all the nutrients from the juice without the fiber. I think long term, I would be better off with the fiber (especially since I skip wheat fiber) but do you think the high speed blenders (like the ninja) can blend raw beets and greens? Someone else suggested passing blended drinks through a sieve to remove the fiber, but is there a point to that?

Anyone with experience want to weigh in? I am really unmotivated to make elaborate meals with tons of vegetables right now, but drinking it does have an appeal at least short term, but I hate to invest in a juicer. We do have a cuisinart food process, but really don't know if that would work. I have made almond butter out of it before, so it is pretty tough.

And I know raw greens are hard to digest, so does blending do any good, or are you still going to have trouble getting nutrition even from blended raw greens?

Thoughts?

I'm reading on the DIS iPhone app so, please forgive the non-replies.

Miserable weigh-in today. Not real happy about it but not surprised by it either. Surely I can do better next week.

I'm off work today to clean my house and get ready for DD's birthday party tomorrow. Unfortunately, I stayed up way too late last night because I had today off and now I'm paying for it.

Oh well. Guess I better get started.

Or take a nap.

We'll see...

Happy Friday ladies! Have a good one. :-)

A few years ago DH and I went to WDW for a long weekend and only did one day. We went to EPCOT from open until close and had a great time. I'd probably do that again and make sure I ride my faves (Soarin and TT) and eat/drink my faves (avocado margarita, chocolate covered caramel with sea salt, anything from Morocco, and a Grey Goose slushie) :)

DD and I shared one of those chocolate covered caramels with sea salt on our last trip as part of our "Eat around the World".... it was definitely one of the more FAVORITE things we enjoyed. That being said, we didn't get ANYTHING we really liked at Morocco... most of it went in the trash... even the desserts! Never tried a cocktail (other than a German beer) in the World. But DD and bound and determined that she and I will do a "Drink around the World" when she turns 21! :cool1:

My plan is to exercise more (which is going great) and eat less calories (not doing too good right now but not giving up).

Need to give each other an infusion..... I eat FINE and stay OP, but the exercise is a problem!

Congrats to DD! I'm sure she'll have a great (although busy) summer. She's very lucky for the opportunities :)

Yes she is and I think she realizes that!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello all. I am having one of those days. I have no idea why, but I'm just kind of bummed today and was doing well until DH grabbed my favorite pizza for dinner since I had DSs at gymnastics. So, needless to say, I'm not expecting much from my weigh in. Maybe I should try a juice fast (with some fruits and veggies since I could not just drink juice) to kick my butt back into gear!
I will definitely say that a juice fast helps get me back on OP, but they are difficult to stick with because I get REALLY hungry.... but I've read that the KEY is to NOT let yourself be too hungry... drink juice at least 5-6 times a day. The idea behind a juice fast is to give your digestive system a "rest", so they usually suggest nothing with fiber during a fast (no nuts, no whole fruits, etc). But you could do a smoothie fast.... essentially a liquid diet.
DS11 and I walked a 5k with our dog last night to benefit 2 local animal rescues. It was hilarious to watch all the dogs excited at the start. They were barking and ready to go. They even give a prize to the first dog to finish, so it's pretty fun. And, we saw 3 deer so DS was happy. Luckily, it was a beautiful night for a race.
It was a lovely evening here too! Glad you got some of that nice weather!
It went from winter straight to summer this week! It was in the 30s in the morning and rainy and chilly at the beginning of the week. Today it is 85! What? Silly PA weather! Hope everyone else is able to enjoy some beautiful weather as well.
Okay, I am off to get lunches packed for tomorrow. Have a great night!
Jill
Weather is similarly silly here. Mornings require jackets and afternoons are t-shirt and shorts weather! But I'm not complaining (except about today's rain :crazy2: ).
Good morning!
I have made it 8 days without a Coke! :cool1: Finally feel like I am through the worst of it. Now time to work on some of my other bad habits. Like all the potato chips I have been stress eating....:) I knew I needed to get the coke under control first before trying to do anything else.
ONE STEP AT A TIME! Give the coke habit at least another week before you try to give up (or control) something else! And make sure you replace the stress eating with something ELSE to help with the stress.... a good book, some yoga, a cup of decaf tea, etc. But 8 days without the Coke is a huge accomplishment! Keep it up!
Great job getting those miles in Pamela! Congrats to your DD on her internships!
Thanks!
Prayers that he returns home safely! I've had to do similar "cold turkey" with other snack foods like sweet potato chips (I will literally eat an entire large bag over the course of a day if it is here and open). I recently found the chips I like in a single serving and bought the bag and ate it for lunch.... but didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would and when I did the math and realized HOW MANY PPV it used, I nearly fell over! NOT WORTH IT!
So I have a juicing question. Or more a topic for conversation, I guess.
I was reading about juicing and one guy was making the argument that you should get a juice extractor rather than using a masticating juicer (or high speed blender) because the point of juicing is to give your insides a rest and get all the nutrients from the juice without the fiber. Thoughts?
I follow a blog that I think is pretty good about stuff like this.... and my Mom recently bought me the woman's e-book all about juicing. Masticating juices (allegedly) damage the juice LESS and add LESS oxygen (important) to the juice as it is being made. As such, the juice can be stored longer in the fridge. The "shred it and swirl it" kind of juice that MOST of us have (because they are more affordable) add too much oxygen to the juice and as such it must be used IMMEDIATELY in order to get the best benefit from the juice.
She also states that juicing should be FIBER FREE in order to give you body the break/cleanse that is desired. That being said, she does say that you can make juice with a strong blender (such as a Vitamix) by blending the fruits and veggies and putting them through cheesecloth to extract the juices. I may try that with greens, since my juicer does a terrible job on those. That being said, I have been rather enjoying my green morning smoothies over the past few weeks and it is ASTONISHING to me how much green stuff I can "drink" in the morning.... I easily add three HUGE handfuls to my 2 cups of almond milk and I really wouldn't even know they were there, other than the color. So for overall healthy eating, I will continue to make green smoothies.... for for fasting/cleansing/healing I will do the occasional 2-4 day juice fast.
Anyhow, Rose if you are interested in reading some parts of the e-book, I have it on my computer as a PDF and could share some parts. Just let me know.
I'm reading on the DIS iPhone app so, please forgive the non-replies.
Your lousy weigh-in could easily be in part because of the lack of sleep last night! Give yourself a break, eat well today, and try a do-over on the scale tomorrow night after a good night's sleep.... you might be pleasantly surprised!
*******************
Well.... my break time is nearly over and I don't get another minute to myself for about 2 hours, so I had better hit the potty while I can!! Glad to see some chatter while I was gone.... I get sad when I pop on and no one has posted for hours!
TTYL when I have my lunch/recess break!.......................P
I'll explain where I've been at the end! Catch up time!
Good Tuesday morning everyone.
I never got on last night. I went grocery shopping after school then made some granola for my breakfast and then dinner for last night. I think I am getting sick because I was asleep by 8:30.
Question of the day
If you had just one day in Disney World, what would you do?
Have a happy and healthy day.
I've done one day at Disney World! For the first 2 years we were dating, DBF knew I loved Disney...but he didn't know I LOVE DISNEY. So he took me on a 1 day trip. To which I said How do I do everything in 1 day??? I did Magic Kingdom rope drop to the end of Extra Magic hours. It was amazing to do everything and really get to explore MK every possible way. I found so many new thing.
So DBF has agreed to a 4 day trip coming up soon in agreement I will allow breaks through the days.
Question of the Day
What plan are you on to help you lose weight?
Have a happy and healthy day.
My plan is to eat more whole foods, not processed and make everything that I can. I feel way better.
So do you want to hear something crazy?
I think I won a trip for two to the National Celiac Disease Foundation conference in June! It's in Pasadena for two days. I forgot I entered the contest, but I got an email tonight congratulating me and saying to contact them to set up travel arrangements.
I never expected to win. Just haven't had that kind of luck lately.
I want to go, but there has been so much gluten free bashing going on lately and I don't officially have c-d since I went off of gluten before all the tests were run; just gluten intolerance, so are people going to think I am a fraud? It would be a whole weekend of not worrying about what you are going to eat, which does sound pretty awesome. I guess this is just a sign of how high my stress level has been lately, that I am even questioning going...
CONGRATS :cheer2: You know, go. I have some friends with c-d and they realllly like the "gluten free fad" because it means more options to them! Nobody will think you're a fraud, and if they do shame on them!
Morning friends!! I'm here at work again today with 2nd grade this time. I will get a break later this morning and hope to pop on again, but I didn't want to pass up this chance.
DD got an intership position at the New England Aquarium and she is DELIGHTED, to say the least. It isn't the position she originally applied for, but I think that they really looked at her STRENGTHS and put her in a spot where she can really help the NEAQ. It is going to be a CRAZY summer for her with TWO internships (thank goodness one of them pays!) and honestly I don't see how she is going to manage a single day off (other than July 4th, which she has already requested). I know she wants to me to visit a lot, but I think once things get underway, she will realize that she doesn't have much time for visitors!
I hear the kiddos in the hallway, so I'll dash for now! BBL to chat more........P
Congrats to your DD!!! That sounds like an awesome internship! I love aquariums! I lived in NYC about 2 hours away from my mom and I didn't have much time for visitors but I loved when she would come up and take my poor intern self out!
I've been MIA for a bit. I was born with a lung infection and 22 years later it still causes some problems. I tend to be really susceptible to things like pneumonia, bronchitis and general yuckiness in my lungs.
I caught a cough from someone at work and I ended up so sick. I wasn't contagious so I still had to go to work but I got put on a bunch of steroids! I had a major weight gain that I never got rid of 5 years ago because of those and I really didn't want that to happen again.
The good news is it seems cleared up and I can breath again so back to the gym! And I stayed the same this week which I'm pretty ok with. I just really didn't want to be sick for the wedding and Disney and worse not fit in my dress!
My DBF has a friend of ours from college moving in as he's starting at the same company...I'm sure I'll lose with the amount of cleaning I'll be doing the next few days before vacation!
Hope everyone has a good weigh in!
Hey. Have had kind of a crazy week. My step dad had a stroke. I'm going to see him today--it's my first day off, I worked 7 days straight. It was a minor stroke but I think my Mom downplayed it to me, I know he can't walk. My daughter moved into an apt. and when I went to pick her up for a dental appt. they had absolutely nothing so fortunately Salvation Army was having their once a month half off everything sale so I took her to get basic stuff for their apt. We got a coffee maker, microwave, glasses, bookshelves, an end table, really nice playpen, kitchen stuff etc all for 70$'s. Her boyfriends dad is supposed to bring over a couch and some other furniture and they found a bed on craigslist. My truck is really coming in handy. I got interviewed for the paper about the first day sick pay thing the same day my step dad had his stroke. Been trying to squeeze in workouts as it's been raining all week again so no riding my bike to work and of course I've been eating like a madwoman. It's a miracle I'm only up 2 pounds really.
I've been reading online about strokes so at least I'll be prepared when I see him. It's just hard because he's always been the one who takes care of everything in our family and he's so smart. "This is the guy who gave up college to work and take care of me and my Mom, who became a firefighter then after retiring went back to school to earn his degree in his 60's. Need to take my son to get new glasses because he managed to break his in half this week then we'll go see him. Need to find time to spend with my mom too she's been upset of course and my daughter needs me to help her with the bed they bought today...aaahhh!:crazy2:
Plus you get one cat fixed up--the next one's down. Well she's just having litterbox issues which I think I can fix but right now I'm looking a big mess to clean up--not pleasant at all. Think I'll just go back to bed....:faint: The tree pollen has been really bad and my eyes are ridiculous- I think I've got that eyelid infection thing again which means twice a day rubbing them with baby shampoo for a couple minutes then letting warm water run over them for another couple and no eye makeup. I shouldn't be wearing my contacts either. Maybe today I'll skip them. The itching's been so bad even with prescription eye drops plus I take flonase...Well I better go put on my big girl panties and just deal. Thanks for letting me vent.
Well, my lack of PLANNING got the better of me this past Tuesday and I totally missed my MILE that day. :headache: It was a double-work day for me and I forgot about the mile entirely and hadn't put it in WRITING into my plan, so I didn't even THINK about it until Wedesday morning. If I had remembered it even LATE Tuesday I could have hopped on the TM, but it wasn't even in my brain. Oh well. I am NOT letting it derail my plan to do at least ONE MILE every day in May.... it was just a bump in the road, right??
Stuff happens and you made it up already! :flower3: No worries! :hippie:
Sounds like a fun race, Jill, and nice to have DS and your dog join you! :cool2: Too bad we are so far apart -- DS could come see us where we have deer in our yard multiple times a day.
Good morning!
I have made it 8 days without a Coke! :cool1: Finally feel like I am through the worst of it. Now time to work on some of my other bad habits. Like all the potato chips I have been stress eating....:) I knew I needed to get the coke under control first before trying to do anything else.
Kudos for getting rid of the Coke and chips, Rose! :cool2: I read something this week that said don't tell yourself that you can never have something again, say that you are choosing not to have it right now.
I'm reading on the DIS iPhone app so, please forgive the non-replies.
So sorry for the tough weigh-in, Connie! :hugs: I weighed in up a pound myself. Onward and downward for us! :cheer2:
pixiedust: for a good recovery for your stepfather, Susan. Glad that you could help out your DD. Sounds like their situation improves all the time. :cool2: I hear you on the allergies -- they are the pits here this year. :flower3:
Good weigh in yesterday, from 206.8 to 205.4, as I am getting closer to my goal, pounds are tougher to shed..
First of all, so sorry to hear about your step-dad. I'll definitely say a prayer!
Next up.... glad you were able to get all of the basics in place for your daughter.
Take care of your eye AND yourself!
******************
Happy Saturday all! Another crazy busy weekend here. The morning was calm, but rainy with even a bit of thunder. Then DS and I had to run out for a bit and now I need to get some laundry hung out (the sun has arrived!) and get some yard work done!
Tomorrow will be a mad dash between Moms.... we will leave the house early to have breakfast with my parents at about 9:30 and after a quick visit there we will drive another 1.5 hour to DH's mom's house for a visit with her. I should NOT have left the phone calls up to DH, as he really didn't think about the WHOLE day very well and agreed to a 1 pm meet at DMIL's without considering how/when we might see MY mom.....:rolleyes: But I'll make it work. And my OWN Mother's Day celebration will be some time during the brief 2 weeks that DD is home before her internships begin.
He ALSO did not confer with his brothers and sisters about any MEAL planning for the visit with his mom. When I asked him about it today he said his MOM was making swiss chicken.... DUH... IT IS MOTHER'S DAY! Your 91 year old MOM should not be COOKING for YOU!! :headache: MEN!!! Anyhow.... no getting around that now, so we will at least be bringing a fruit salad and maybe a hot vegetable. DH is at Costco now buying the fruit.
I will be making a nice light healthy breakfast (crustless vegetable quiche) and a spinach salad with strawberries and a healthy chocolate dessert (black bean brownies) to take to my Mom's for brunch tomorrow. Mom has restarted her OWN healthier weight-loss journey and has been doing really well, so no need to derail it with pastries!
Time to slip into my yard work/workout clothes, get my mile done and get some brush cut around the yard!~ If it isn't too breezy we might even be able to burn it tonight.
I'll pop on in the morning to say hello!
OH CRAP!! AM I COACHING NOW???? DANG IT!! I wondered why there was no QOTD! Just checked my calendar and I am penciled in but I never confirmed it!
QOTD for Saturday, May 10, 2014:
Well, here we are, nearly 1/3 of the way through MAY already! How do you feel about your progress so far? What still needs to change? What are you happy with?
I follow a blog that I think is pretty good about stuff like this.... and my Mom recently bought me the woman's e-book all about juicing. Masticating juices (allegedly) damage the juice LESS and add LESS oxygen (important) to the juice as it is being made. As such, the juice can be stored longer in the fridge. The "shred it and swirl it" kind of juice that MOST of us have (because they are more affordable) add too much oxygen to the juice and as such it must be used IMMEDIATELY in order to get the best benefit from the juice.
She also states that juicing should be FIBER FREE in order to give you body the break/cleanse that is desired. That being said, she does say that you can make juice with a strong blender (such as a Vitamix) by blending the fruits and veggies and putting them through cheesecloth to extract the juices. I may try that with greens, since my juicer does a terrible job on those. That being said, I have been rather enjoying my green morning smoothies over the past few weeks and it is ASTONISHING to me how much green stuff I can "drink" in the morning.... I easily add three HUGE handfuls to my 2 cups of almond milk and I really wouldn't even know they were there, other than the color. So for overall healthy eating, I will continue to make green smoothies.... for for fasting/cleansing/healing I will do the occasional 2-4 day juice fast.
Anyhow, Rose if you are interested in reading some parts of the e-book, I have it on my computer as a PDF and could share some parts. Just let me know.
Thanks for the juicing information. I think I need to take a serious look at it and try it out for a kickstart.
I've been MIA for a bit. I was born with a lung infection and 22 years later it still causes some problems. I tend to be really susceptible to things like pneumonia, bronchitis and general yuckiness in my lungs.
I caught a cough from someone at work and I ended up so sick. I wasn't contagious so I still had to go to work but I got put on a bunch of steroids! I had a major weight gain that I never got rid of 5 years ago because of those and I really didn't want that to happen again.
The good news is it seems cleared up and I can breath again so back to the gym! And I stayed the same this week which I'm pretty ok with. I just really didn't want to be sick for the wedding and Disney and worse not fit in my dress!
My DBF has a friend of ours from college moving in as he's starting at the same company...I'm sure I'll lose with the amount of cleaning I'll be doing the next few days before vacation!
Hope everyone has a good weigh in!
Sorry you were under the weather (and couldn't even miss work)! Glad to hear you are feeling better. Take care of yourself :)
Hey. Have had kind of a crazy week. My step dad had a stroke. I'm going to see him today--it's my first day off, I worked 7 days straight. It was a minor stroke but I think my Mom downplayed it to me, I know he can't walk. My daughter moved into an apt. and when I went to pick her up for a dental appt. they had absolutely nothing so fortunately Salvation Army was having their once a month half off everything sale so I took her to get basic stuff for their apt. We got a coffee maker, microwave, glasses, bookshelves, an end table, really nice playpen, kitchen stuff etc all for 70$'s. Her boyfriends dad is supposed to bring over a couch and some other furniture and they found a bed on craigslist. My truck is really coming in handy. I got interviewed for the paper about the first day sick pay thing the same day my step dad had his stroke. Been trying to squeeze in workouts as it's been raining all week again so no riding my bike to work and of course I've been eating like a madwoman. It's a miracle I'm only up 2 pounds really.
I've been reading online about strokes so at least I'll be prepared when I see him. It's just hard because he's always been the one who takes care of everything in our family and he's so smart. "This is the guy who gave up college to work and take care of me and my Mom, who became a firefighter then after retiring went back to school to earn his degree in his 60's. Need to take my son to get new glasses because he managed to break his in half this week then we'll go see him. Need to find time to spend with my mom too she's been upset of course and my daughter needs me to help her with the bed they bought today...aaahhh!:crazy2:
Plus you get one cat fixed up--the next one's down. Well she's just having litterbox issues which I think I can fix but right now I'm looking a big mess to clean up--not pleasant at all. Think I'll just go back to bed....:faint: The tree pollen has been really bad and my eyes are ridiculous- I think I've got that eyelid infection thing again which means twice a day rubbing them with baby shampoo for a couple minutes then letting warm water run over them for another couple and no eye makeup. I shouldn't be wearing my contacts either. Maybe today I'll skip them. The itching's been so bad even with prescription eye drops plus I take flonase...Well I better go put on my big girl panties and just deal. Thanks for letting me vent.
Sheesh...when it rains, it pours! I'll be sending lots of prayers for your stepdad!
Sounds like a fun race, Jill, and nice to have DS and your dog join you! :cool2: Too bad we are so far apart -- DS could come see us where we have deer in our yard multiple times a day.
He would love that! But, I'd probably have a hard time getting him to school :)
Good weigh in yesterday, from 206.8 to 205.4, as I am getting closer to my goal, pounds are tougher to shed..
Congrats! Keep up the good work!
Happy Saturday all! Another crazy busy weekend here. The morning was calm, but rainy with even a bit of thunder. Then DS and I had to run out for a bit and now I need to get some laundry hung out (the sun has arrived!) and get some yard work done!
Tomorrow will be a mad dash between Moms.... we will leave the house early to have breakfast with my parents at about 9:30 and after a quick visit there we will drive another 1.5 hour to DH's mom's house for a visit with her. I should NOT have left the phone calls up to DH, as he really didn't think about the WHOLE day very well and agreed to a 1 pm meet at DMIL's without considering how/when we might see MY mom.....:rolleyes: But I'll make it work. And my OWN Mother's Day celebration will be some time during the brief 2 weeks that DD is home before her internships begin.
He ALSO did not confer with his brothers and sisters about any MEAL planning for the visit with his mom. When I asked him about it today he said his MOM was making swiss chicken.... DUH... IT IS MOTHER'S DAY! Your 91 year old MOM should not be COOKING for YOU!! :headache: MEN!!! Anyhow.... no getting around that now, so we will at least be bringing a fruit salad and maybe a hot vegetable. DH is at Costco now buying the fruit.
I will be making a nice light healthy breakfast (crustless vegetable quiche) and a spinach salad with strawberries and a healthy chocolate dessert (black bean brownies) to take to my Mom's for brunch tomorrow. Mom has restarted her OWN healthier weight-loss journey and has been doing really well, so no need to derail it with pastries!
Time to slip into my yard work/workout clothes, get my mile done and get some brush cut around the yard!~ If it isn't too breezy we might even be able to burn it tonight.
I'll pop on in the morning to say hello!
What a wonderful way to spend your Mother's Day!
I know I've said it before, but I wish you lived closer :rotfl2: Your breakfast sounds amazing. Is the crustless quiche recipe on the recipe thread?
QOTD for Saturday, May 10, 2014:
Well, here we are, nearly 1/3 of the way through MAY already! How do you feel about your progress so far? What still needs to change? What are you happy with?
1/3 of May is over?!?!?! Yikes! I better get it together!
My progress is so-so. I am actually doing great with the exercise but not so much with the food. I was just telling DH how I would love to eliminate processed food from our life, but it almost seems impossible. We often only have a short amount of time to cook and eat dinner during the school year. Sometimes it comes down to grabbing pizza or going for convenience foods like grilled cheese, hamburgers, hot dogs (for the kids), spaghetti, and frozen french fries. Boy, that's a sad, sad list :(
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Good evening all :)

I am actually getting ready for bed already. DS11 had a birthday party last night at a skating rink with laser tag and a rock wall as well. I finally got to sleep around midnight. Then my very playful dog started whining and sprinting around the house at 5:47 am. The neighbors got a puppy and were outside with it. Apparently my dog interpreted this potty break as super play time! I had to lock the doggy door so she would stop trying to play with their new pup (who is so stinking cute btw). I never got back to sleep and met my sister at 8:45 for an 8 mile walk but only did 7.3 (we underestimated all the incline!). I showered and then went out shopping with my sister for a bit. So, I am a tad tired :)

Tomorrow, DS11 is accolyting for the first time at 8:00 am service. They have a Sunday school closing program at 9:30. Then, we have a soccer game at noon. We are having dinner at my sister's at 4:30. So, I may not be back on until Monday.

Wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day! :flower3: Enjoy the rest of the weekend :thumbsup2

Jill

Happy Mother's Day all! :goodvibes

Good weigh in yesterday, from 206.8 to 205.4, as I am getting closer to my goal, pounds are tougher to shed..

Congratulations! Great progress! :thumbsup2 It's never as fast as we would like but I truly think slower weight loss is more likely to be permanent weight loss.

My May got off to a bit of a rough start but I have things back under control and I'm ready to power through until the end of the month. I need to stick to my food plan. And I'm really like the new WW routine for the month taking 5 minutes to reflect on what is and isn't working at the end of the day. :cool2:

HAHAHAHA I think men don't think about that! Though I think if my nana had her way she would do all the cooking regardless of the day.

How do you make your black bean brownies and do you have nutritional info on them? I'd like to try to make them. Of course I wouldn't tell DBF whats in them..he might shy away if he knew the truth :rolleyes1

Good weigh in yesterday, from 206.8 to 205.4, as I am getting closer to my goal, pounds are tougher to shed..

good job! Isn't that the worst part? You're so close and you have to work the hardest.

WOW! Time seriously flies! You know I'm happy with it. I look better, I feel better (both physically and emotionally) I actually need to eat more on my mid calorie days. I really haven't been and I think that's been a problem some of them time. I also have been trying to cut down sugar that's not fruit sugar a lot and man that's hard. All I want are cookies and ice cream...except I get so sick when I have them because I really don't eat them. I need to learn :sad2:

Happy Mother's Day, mothers! I hope you're all having a great day. I'm working so I won't get to see my mom which I'm a little bummed about. I was trying to convince her to come bring me my luggage before I left for vacation (I left all of it at my parents' house when I moved out) and so I can see her but it doesn't look too good!

On the plus side I'm still going down and it looks like I'm going to get a little bit of a break this week at work!!!! :yay: I could use a shorten day after all these late nights!

A 1/3 of the way thru May??!! How the heck did that happen? My progress so far has been in reverse. So, I still need to change gears in general. I'm gonna "start" again in the morning after Mexican food and a margarita with my mom and the whole family for Mother's Day.

Happy Mother's Day, ladies! Here's to a successful new week. :-)

Pretty happy, dropped a few pounds... Overall wanting to go from 250 to 175, so being 204 right now is great. Need to workout more, but it's tough

Morning all! I hope you had a great Mother's Day! Sorry I didn't pop on.... and today is looking nutty as well!

Here is your QOTD for Monday, May 12, 2014:

How do you/would you measure your progress without your scale?

Thanks for the juicing information. I think I need to take a serious look at it and try it out for a kickstart.

I think that DD and I will be doing some juicing when she gets home. She feels like she needs a healthy boost after so many months of dining hall food!

I know I've said it before, but I wish you lived closer :rotfl2: Your breakfast sounds amazing. Is the crustless quiche recipe on the recipe thread?

It is SUPER easy.... basically eggs (or egg whites), milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg poured over a pie pan full of veggies and shredded cheese and then baked. I can check the recipe thread tonight and I will post it if it isn't there.

1/3 of May is over?!?!?! Yikes! I better get it together!

Amazing to realize how fast it is going!

Sounds like a crazy busy weekend, but what a FUN sounding party!!

My May got off to a bit of a rough start but I have things back under control and I'm ready to power through until the end of the month. I need to stick to my food plan. And I'm really like the new WW routine for the month taking 5 minutes to reflect on what is and isn't working at the end of the day. :cool2:

Have you been trying to do the reflection?? I find it to be super helpful to take a few minutes in the morning to look at the PREVIOUS day.

How do you make your black bean brownies and do you have nutritional info on them? I'd like to try to make them. Of course I wouldn't tell DBF whats in them..he might shy away if he knew the truth :rolleyes1

They are SUPER easy! I can put the recipe on the recipe thread tonight or tomorrow. For WW Points Plus, I have that info, but I'm not sure I have the actual NI on them. But there are only a few ingredients, so it would be easy to figure out.

Okay ladies.... so sorry I didn't get to pop on here yesterday. We spent too many hours in the car to count, but like I said, both Moms got a visit (short but sweet), plus I saw DD.....AND I stayed OP all day!! I made a HUGE fruit salad to bring every where (left the extras with DD) and it was a good day overall..... nice to not concentrate on the FOOD, but on the VISITS instead. That being said, despite having my sneakers handy, I never made it out for an official MILE yesterday. Oh well. I did a bit of gardening for DMIL and walked across campus with DD.

This will probably be my ONLY computer access until I get home tonight, so I'll chat later! Have a great Monday!...............P

Hi, friends! :)

Had a wonderful Mother's Day - brunch and a nap in the afternoon, and DH gave me a spa gift certificate for my scheduled visit in a few weeks. :)

WI on Friday was down just a smidge, but I'll take it...slow and steady! And I'm off and running this morning - literally. I went out for 3.1 miles on a beautiful morning here just in case we get thunderstorms at running group again tonight. If not, oh well, double the mileage today!

QOTD - it's definitely about how my clothes fit. I can tell with some items immediately when my weight has slipped, and I'm there with the jeans right now. Good thing it's nice and warm out...not exactly jeans weather! But still...I *know* things are off when they don't fit right.

Now to get DDs to school and me back here to work. I have a mile-long to-do list after taking Friday off...

XO
