Question of the day

If you had just one day in Disney World, what would you do?

I can't imagine going to WDW for just one day. I think I'd need a Park Hopper so I could enjoy it all but I think I'd just wander around. :cloud9: Ride my very favorites maybe. But, mostly, just try to soak up as much magic as possible. :wizard:

Morning all and Happy Wednesday! I'm off to work again today and probably without internet access again, so this is my "howdy" for the day! I will try to pop on tonight when I get home! I hope you all have a great day!..........P

I haven't started out so well on this, my latest attempt at a health kick. I do okay thru most of the day and then I get home and munch. :sad2: Gotta get my act together...

Hi Gang - Michelle here.. Wife to Hubs of 5.5 yrs, Mom to DD 20.5 and DS 17.5 and Honey age 3.5 .. I work full time.. we are currently down to just one Truck (due to an accident in Nov with a buck that totaled my car) and now that my life has calmed down a bit and I got the slap on my wrist from the Dr I was expecting I am "in it to win it" for May. I am setting a goal of 1 lbs per week using Thursday as my WI in day.. I started Atkins again on 4/21 and as of today I am down 7.5lbs..
Thanks so much Dona for hostessing us this month! Michelle

I have a goal actually it's a few along the way to the 60 I need to lose (I'm using 4/21 as my starting date)

7/5 my BFF's littlest sister gets married (I'd like to be down 25 by then)
7/13 we camping a posh resort Point Sebago (right here in Maine) so I'd like to look good in my bathing suit... (hold at the 25 lost)
7/16 is my next Dr appt.. need better A1C
8/8 we have reservations at Stonewall Kitchen to see guest chef Edward Lee from Top Chef Texas! (would like to be down 30)
9/26 - 10/4 Hubs said YES to a Disney trip with Free Dining booked 5/7!!) (would like to be down 35)
10/10 is my 45th Bday (hold at the 35)
11/27 is Thanksgiving (maybe down to 40)
12/22 I start my Christmas vacation and don't come back till 1/5/15 (maybe down to 50 but holding at 40 is ok too)
of course then we are into next year and i'll just keep on keeping on! Haaa well that was long winded!

Good afternoon everyone.

For the first Question of the day for the month of May Let us go with the traditional

Question of the Day

Introduce yourself and talk about your goals for the month.

I will be back after yoga.
Ok here are my goals and intro above..

I don't think I ever PM'd my starting weight.. I'll get on that as of today I am down 13 lbs since 4/21! that is my WHOOO HOO Wednesday.. OHHHH wait also I booked us for free dining 9/26 - 10/4 as Hubs said my org trip was too short!!!!! I am sooo excited and now those goals above mean more then anything.. I have a photo that I'll post of our last trip May 2012 --- I hate it because in it I look preggie WHICH I was not!! I WILL NOT LOOK LIKE THAT THIS TRIP I love all you ladies here for helping keep on track!!

Got here too late for May but I am excited to join in for June!:cool1:

Unless there is some rule I don't know about, I don't think there is such a thing as "too late". Jump on in! PM your starting weight to donac today and state your goal; just adjust said goal for 3 weeks and 2 days instead of 4 weeks. No prob!

Good Wednesday afternoon. I tried to get on this morning but couldn't.

I will try to get back on this evening. I have a couple of things I want to do before I sit at the computer.

Question of the Day

What plan are you on to help you lose weight?

Have a happy and healthy day.

Question of the Day

What plan are you on to help you lose weight?

Plan? What do you mean "plan"? I'm supposed to have a plan? I should really come up with a plan.

Yes, that's supposed to be, at least, a little bit funny but, in truth, I can't really say that I've committed to any particular plan yet. For now, let's just say I'm on the "eat less, move more" plan.

Question of the Day

What plan are you on to help you lose weight?

I'm going with the good old less calories in, more calories out approach. Lots of exercise and weighing my portions to control them. My Fitness Pal, Strava, RunKeeper all help with this. I have tried WW in the past but it is really expensive and I can't justify the cost, but I know many have been successful with it. I did have a Bodyfit Media that I was wearing but I do not think it was really accurate after several months so now I am taking a break and manually counting. So far I do not miss it.

I think the key for me is to PLAN things, even if I end up eating the same breakfast a million days in a row. Better to be bored than at loose ends.

I have a WHOO HOO Wednesday as well today! We reserved back in August for this coming October trip. TA was able to get us an extra day at the hotel, extra day of park hoppers and free dining this morning and save us $400 in the process. We are so excited! :cheer2:

Hope everyone is having a great week!

So do you want to hear something crazy?

I think I won a trip for two to the National Celiac Disease Foundation conference in June! It's in Pasadena for two days. I forgot I entered the contest, but I got an email tonight congratulating me and saying to contact them to set up travel arrangements.

I never expected to win. Just haven't had that kind of luck lately.

I want to go, but there has been so much gluten free bashing going on lately and I don't officially have c-d since I went off of gluten before all the tests were run; just gluten intolerance, so are people going to think I am a fraud? It would be a whole weekend of not worrying about what you are going to eat, which does sound pretty awesome. I guess this is just a sign of how high my stress level has been lately, that I am even questioning going...

Have a happy and healthy day.

my plan is Atkins.. I did last year at this same time and brought my A1C down to under 6 (6 and under is normal) and lost about 25 ish lbs.. I gained it back and my A1C went back up (7.6).. I am however seriously thinking that the shot (once a week Bydureon) had been the real reason for the going down of the A1C... this time I am week 3 into Atkins and my number first thing in the AM is still up in the 170s.. that is after eating dinner - no carbs just meat and veggies, no snacking and only water till bed - at 6ish and testing my blood at 5am .. however yesterday I had lunch at 11:30 was done at 12:15 had a snack of skinny crackers and almonds at 4pm and at 6pm before dinner I checked my blood and it was 116. really isns't makin sense to me?? frustrating!!

well anyway.. moving on.. haaa.haa

I'm having the same problem myself, Connie. :hug: I just decided that I am going to the "fake it 'til you make it" stage until it becomes the real thing! ::yes::

Got here too late for May but I am excited to join in for June!:cool1:

:welcome: CarlyJo! It's NEVER too late to join one of our challenges! And you have three whole weeks left so lots of time to make some great progress. Good luck!

Question of the Day

What plan are you on to help you lose weight?

Have a happy and healthy day.

I am doing WW Points Plus plan but I have to admit that is not working for me right now. I need to do something different but I haven't quite figured out what that is. DH is interested in the Mediterranean diet and I think I can mesh that with Simply Filling on WW. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions . . . :cool2:

Excellent point about the benefits of planning! :thumbsup2 And a big :woohoo: on an extra day at WDW for less money!

So do you want to hear something crazy?

How exciting to have won a trip to Pasadena, Rose! :yay: It sounds like it would be really fun and interesting and I bet they have some fabulous food. :cool2: When I read "just gluten intolerance" I was reminded of the folks who say "just the marathon." ;) "Just gluten intolerance" has been every bit as life altering as any other medical diagnosis could be for you. I bet there will be lots of people with various diagnoses relating to gluten there and I'm sure there will be no gluten free bashing. Go and have fun! :cheer2: And maybe add a little visit to DL too. ::yes::

Last night we ran the 5k course for the race I am doing on Memorial Day week-end. That is two weeks from Sunday so I have my motivation for the next couple of weeks. I need to sign up for another race in June or July to keep the momentum going. I am registered for two 10k in September and October so there is that training to look forward to also. I'm the kind of person who has to register for the next race before starting one or I'll park my butt on the couch for way too long. :sad2:

Have a great day! :goodvibes

Question of the Day

What plan are you on to help you lose weight?

Have a happy and healthy day.

I've been following WW (not for the first time) since 01/02/2008. While I don't agree with all of their ideas, I think overall it is an excellent plan.

Sounds like a good "plan" to me... as long as it is working for you!

Planning, planning, planning.... and of course, planning helps me a lot too!

I have a WHOO HOO Wednesday as well today! We reserved back in August for this coming October trip. TA was able to get us an extra day at the hotel, extra day of park hoppers and free dining this morning and save us $400 in the process. We are so excited! :cheer2:

Double woohoo.... a longer trip AND less money!!

So do you want to hear something crazy?

I think I won a trip for two to the National Celiac Disease Foundation conference in June! It's in Pasadena for two days. I forgot I entered the contest, but I got an email tonight congratulating me and saying to contact them to set up travel arrangements.

WOOOHOO!! Sounds like it could be FUN and EDUCATIONAL!! And a great chance for you to network and talk to others with a similar struggle! Any chance you need a travel buddy??;)

my plan is Atkins.. I did last year at this same time and brought my A1C down to under 6 (6 and under is normal) and lost about 25 ish lbs.. I gained it back and my A1C went back up (7.6).. So sorry that you are feeling frustrated. Don't give up! Your weight AND your overall health are improving every day!! You CAN DO TIHS!! I know you can!! But be SURE you aren't feeling too deprived. Find a way to have a HEALTHY OP treat once in a while!

Morning friends!! I'm here at work again today with 2nd grade this time. I will get a break later this morning and hope to pop on again, but I didn't want to pass up this chance.

DD got an intership position at the New England Aquarium and she is DELIGHTED, to say the least. It isn't the position she originally applied for, but I think that they really looked at her STRENGTHS and put her in a spot where she can really help the NEAQ. It is going to be a CRAZY summer for her with TWO internships (thank goodness one of them pays!) and honestly I don't see how she is going to manage a single day off (other than July 4th, which she has already requested). I know she wants to me to visit a lot, but I think once things get underway, she will realize that she doesn't have much time for visitors!

I hear the kiddos in the hallway, so I'll dash for now! BBL to chat more........P

Congrats to your DD on her internships for the summer, Pamela! :cool2: I'm sure that she will have a great time and learn a lot and she definitely won't be letting any moss grow under her feet with that kind of schedule. ;)

Got here too late for May but I am excited to join in for June!:cool1:

NEVER TOO LATE!! Jump right in now! Welcome!!

I'm having the same problem myself, Connie. :hug: I just decided that I am going to the "fake it 'til you make it" stage until it becomes the real thing! ::yes::

Great idea!!

Why not give it a try for a week or two? I'd like to say "nothing ventured, nothing gained" but obviously we don't want to GAIN!!! :lmao: So I'll change it to "nothing ventured, nothing learned"! I discovered that combining WW with Atkins was TOUGH, but not un-doable.... and it definitely got the weight off (combined with regular exercise, of course).

I'm always SO PROUD of you with your continued commitment to your running!

Congrats to your DD on her internships for the summer, Pamela! :cool2: I'm sure that she will have a great time and learn a lot and she definitely won't be letting any moss grow under her feet with that kind of schedule. ;)

Thanks! I'll pass along the congrats. She will be working about 35 hours a week on the SURF project (the paid internship that has her staying on campus this summer) and she has a minimum number of hours that she must do at the aquarium as well, which will mean AT LEAST 2 days a week there, with the occasional 3-day week. I just pray that she doesn't burn herself out and end up frustrated and exhausted by the time the school year starts!

Well, my lack of PLANNING got the better of me this past Tuesday and I totally missed my MILE that day. :headache: It was a double-work day for me and I forgot about the mile entirely and hadn't put it in WRITING into my plan, so I didn't even THINK about it until Wedesday morning. If I had remembered it even LATE Tuesday I could have hopped on the TM, but it wasn't even in my brain. Oh well. I am NOT letting it derail my plan to do at least ONE MILE every day in May.... it was just a bump in the road, right??

I've got just a few minutes left of my break time, so I must dash to the bathroom while I have the chance! TTYL...............P

Okay..... morning is done, lunch time is pending, kiddos are at recess and the worst part of the day is still to come.... MATH! :rolleyes2

DH just got in touch with me and told me I had to meet him this afternoon at the car repair shop because he has an appointment tomorrow, so I will have to drive up there after I leave school today, which means I won't be home until about 5pm. It isn't a huge deal, but if I had known this I would have prepped tonight's dinner yesterday so it could just be warmed up. The meat is cooked and the veggies are chopped, but the whole thing still needs to be put together and sauced... so I will have to squeeze in my walk somewhere ..... was really hoping to get in a 2 mi run/1 mi walk tonight, but now I'm not sure. I am just NOT a night person, but if I have to go out after dinner, I will.

Morning went by quickly and I still have the rest of recess and then lunch duty before Math..... it will be dismissal time in no time at all!

Tried a new "do" today, but it is driving me to distraction and I don't think I care for it much, so I probably won't try it again. I sent a selfie to DD and she said it looked cute, but I think she was being nice.;)

TTYL...............P

Congrats on winning the trip! You should definitely go - sounds like you deserve a nice break.

Evening all! Managed about a 2.5 mile walk (with DH no less) tonight.... better than nothing. Dinner was delicious (red, white, and green chili) and there were just enough leftovers for my lunch tomorrow.

Just enough time to fold a load of laundry and put it away and then take a shower before the 8pm show that the men like me to watch with them. It isn't my favorite, but at least it is something to do together.

I'm working again tomorrow, but I'll try to pop on before I head out in the morning...................P

It was so great! I admit, I was a little skeptical at first. There are 275 women self-sorting into four levels of the training program, which runs for 8 weeks. It culminates in an optional 5K (I'm out of town that weekend and can't do the race) and a celebration dinner at the end (not missing that!).

So we signed in and sat down in the gym bleachers. Each week starts with a different speaker, and tonight's was a woman who owns a local running/gear store. She was very knowledgeable, and I may have met my new best running bra friend in one of the samples she showed tonight.

Then we self-sorted into groups, and I kind of wondered how well this part would work. We headed out to the track to do a timed mile, which is designed to give us each a baseline and also make sure we're choosing the appropriate group (reassuring!). It had been raining lightly, but when we got outside, there were lightning strikes, so - back inside. Now the boys' basketball team is practicing in the gym, so we get a corner and one bleacher section for our group. We ran the stairs. We jumped the stairs. We did some strength stuff, including something called Matrix 24 that was really hard and will make my butt hurt a *lot* tomorrow but that I think I might want to do every day. We were sweaty and worn out by the end of the night, and next week, as long as there's no lightning, we start the running.

So now I know to grab a hat if it looks a little threatening but also that we'll get a good workout even if we have to come back inside. The only problem now is that I have the post-workout high, which means I'll be up too late. :)

XO
Liz

It sounds like a great program! Maybe the weather will cooperate next week, but at least they had a backup plan that was a good alternative.

I have the same problem when I exercise at night. It makes for a grumpy Jill in the morning!

Good Tuesday morning everyone.

I never got on last night. I went grocery shopping after school then made some granola for my breakfast and then dinner for last night. I think I am getting sick because I was asleep by 8:30.

Question of the day

If you had just one day in Disney World, what would you do?

Have a happy and healthy day.

A few years ago DH and I went to WDW for a long weekend and only did one day. We went to EPCOT from open until close and had a great time. I'd probably do that again and make sure I ride my faves (Soarin and TT) and eat/drink my faves (avocado margarita, chocolate covered caramel with sea salt, anything from Morocco, and a Grey Goose slushie) :)

I haven't started out so well on this, my latest attempt at a health kick. I do okay thru most of the day and then I get home and munch. :sad2: Gotta get my act together...

We must be twins! I am having the same problem :sad2:

Good Wednesday afternoon. I tried to get on this morning but couldn't.

I will try to get back on this evening. I have a couple of things I want to do before I sit at the computer.

Question of the Day

What plan are you on to help you lose weight?

Have a happy and healthy day.

My plan is to exercise more (which is going great) and eat less calories (not doing too good right now but not giving up).

I hear ya on this. I have a race in June and one in August but am trying to plan more so I don't fizzle out & do nothing.

Congrats to DD! I'm sure she'll have a great (although busy) summer. She's very lucky for the opportunities :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello all. I am having one of those days. I have no idea why, but I'm just kind of bummed today and was doing well until DH grabbed my favorite pizza for dinner since I had DSs at gymnastics. So, needless to say, I'm not expecting much from my weigh in. Maybe I should try a juice fast (with some fruits and veggies since I could not just drink juice) to kick my butt back into gear!
DS11 and I walked a 5k with our dog last night to benefit 2 local animal rescues. It was hilarious to watch all the dogs excited at the start. They were barking and ready to go. They even give a prize to the first dog to finish, so it's pretty fun. And, we saw 3 deer so DS was happy. Luckily, it was a beautiful night for a race.
It went from winter straight to summer this week! It was in the 30s in the morning and rainy and chilly at the beginning of the week. Today it is 85! What? Silly PA weather! Hope everyone else is able to enjoy some beautiful weather as well.
Okay, I am off to get lunches packed for tomorrow. Have a great night!
Another drive-by morning hello! I am working today and I'm pretty sure I won't have any computer access, so I just wanted to say hello!
Honestly, I have 7 minutes before I have to dash and I don't have much of anything to share anyhow. Today was my usual Friday steel cut oats from the crockpot and it was super delicious! I haven't had it for a few weeks and I really missed it!
Make a FABULOUS FRIDAY everyone!
