Good Friday to my friends! ANOTHER DAY OFF for me! While part of me is going :banana:, part of me is also going :worried: I like the money! DD and I are desperately trying to save for a graduation trip to Disney and I can't pull anything from the regular budget.

DH is totally against the trip because of college expenses coming up, but if I can do it for $1000 or less, I should be all set (already have about $800 saved). Sure, I KNOW that the money should go into the college account, but in the grand scheme of things, $1000 is a drop in the bucket and you know what... YOLO!!!::yes:: Many, many things will be changing in our lives in the coming few years. DD won't be here and I am going to miss her like crazy! This may be our last chance to do something like this for a long time! And I hate to be morbid, but let's face it... you don't live forever! I am very frugal and believe in saving for emergencies, retirement, etc., but I am not going to spend my entire life saving for "what if" and not living in the NOW! Sure this would be a splurge, but I don't think I would ever regret it.

Okay friends! Time for me to get moving. I never made it onto the website for my new job training yesterday, so that is a priority for today! Hope it isn't boring!

TTYL........................P

I so agree with you...your children will always remember the trip you took and not the money saved. I have that fight with my mom every time we go to Disney....sure the money could be used elsewhere but in the past 2 years I have had 3 girlfriends who have lost their husbands to cancer at that just really hits home....I know you don't have to travel to spend meaningful time with your kids but it is so magical when we are there :).......our special time :)

.............................

Well had follow up from surgery today and he is happy with the bone positioning...re-casted for 2more weeks but I get to start moving my fingers!!!! They don't move much now so have to start exercising them daily....going to try to go back to work on Monday.
I want to get one of those stability ball chairs for my office but my hubby won't let me until my wrist is healed...just in case I would fall off my chair. LOL

Hope everyone has a great weekend......especially our Tink runner Lisa!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The elliptical. There's one at the gym everyone knows is "mine" it's a fun one.
Smart, strong, funny, hard working, alpha (Mom) cat, liberal, frugal.

My favorite form of exercise is going to a gym or class. Love step classes. That being said cannot afford it at the moment, so walking it is for now.

"home nurse", "school & home counselor", "chauffer" and house manager.

(would like to replace those terms in the near future...just saying :rolleyes1)

I love classes at the gym too. Just have to find (i.e. make) the time to go!
Good job on keeping up the walking even though you can go to the gym right now. :thumbsup2

my fave exercise is any high intensity aerobics. Right now I'm doing turbo fire. In m former life (before kids) I was a gym rat and loved spending 2 hours a day 6 days a week at the gym doing free weights and the elliptical and stair master... But I don't have time like that anymore!

Awesome job on the Turbo Fire. I've looked at it and it scares me! Maybe as I get a bit fitter I'll be brave enough to try it out.

Actually I'm really loving running now! Also I'm addicted to the ellipticals at the gym. I can just put a tv show on and roll!

Wife. Mom. Nerd. :woohoo:

LOL @ "nerd"...me too sometimes

Thank you for coaching last week Pamela! And for taking over this week Emily!

My pleasure!

Right now my favorite form of exercise is anything that doesn't involve running.:rotfl: Actually I love to run, I am just burned out and looking forward to getting back into a routine that involves more classes and less ridiculously long runs. :)

lol I'm opposed to running too, but not for lack of trying!!

Hi! Back with little to no hope of actually catching up. :) The WDW half was great! I finished in 2:19:02, justifying my corral placement (which I'd worried was too high), and I felt great, albeit tired, afterward. My only hitch was when I went to grab my bag of energy chews a little before halfway - and they were gone! I had a mini breakdown & then sucked it up, made a backup plan, and kept going. DH and I are planning to do the Goofy in a year to cross the full off our bucket list. Can't believe I'm really planning to do that...

I planned to take a few days off from running to recover and regroup before I start getting ready for the next half (Nike in April!), and my body agreed, finally coming down with some of the crud going around. I started feeling ick at my rehearsal last night, and I'm pulling a sick day today. Time to rest & hydrate. I have a huge solo on Sunday and random stuff to do later today, so I'm going to see how I feel tomorrow and maybe head out for an "easy" couple of miles tomorrow when it's a little warmer. I hate getting sick!!! At least it's a long weekend.

Awesome job on all the running you've completed and have planned!!!

Fave exercise-without a doubt RUNNING! :woohoo: You can do it anywhere and it's the only thing that has consistently helped me both lose and keep my weight in check. :thumbsup2 Hardly a speed demon, but at least (minus the injury time) I'm up off the couch. And at the risk of sounding :snooty:, don't think I'm in too bad of shape compared to many other 45 year-old women I know. (Forgive me for the self-induced ego trip, having a low-esteem kind of day...:worried:)!

Bonus QOTD: Wife, friend, animal-lover, running freak, funny, sports nut, Disney Dork :lmao:, loyal.

You are absolutely allowed to brag about your health! So many people take that for granted. Shout it from the rooftops!!

Why didn't I think to put in "Disney Dork"?!

I put the training on speaker (was listening with ear buds so as not to disturb DH's work), pulled on my workout gear, and started MOVING! Squats, lunges, tricep dips, wall-sits, 21's, jump rope, step ups (pulled a random step stool into the office) overhead presses. I was still able to concentrate on the intro and all of the info, but I didn't feel like I was stagnating and it really went much quicker! I might try to complete a bit more after lunch, but I did nearly 90 minutes this morning and now I need to get on with my day!

BTW, I think I forgot to mention..... DD got a call week accepting her to her TOP CHOICE COLLEGE!! Now we just need the paperwork and hopefully they will "show me the money!" :rotfl2: Looks like she will be heading to Roger Williams University in southern Rhode Island. Still waiting to hear from 4 other schools, but this was her number one choice. Of course, it will depend on any $$ offers from the other schools, plus swim coach input. She already got one acceptance with a $16,000 offer, but it was a safety school.

All of this is just awesome news!!!

I'm up and running again! I was sidelined with the Stomach Flu

Quick check in.
We are headed to DC in the morning to see my dad drive in the Inaugural Parade!! WOOHOO!!!

So, I will either send my weight in tonight or first thing tomorrow morning.

I won't be on the boards much so I will touch base with everyone when I get back on Tuesday.
PrincessNancy96 will get updates when we arrive. See my thread here if you want updates:

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3049821

I hope to log some serious miles this week!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good evening! I hope everyone had a good week of eating and exercise! I did good this week and feel like I'm back on track (finally).
I don't have too much to share tonight. I told DH that I really want to run the Tower of Terror 10 miler this year. I really wanted to run it last year, but didn't have the money. So, I was thinking of doing it this year. Except, DH reminded me that we are going to WDW next week and he still has no idea about getting a new job. He is going to apply to places while he waits to take his boards, but it's all up in the air. Then, the dreaded student loans will be arriving for repayment. So once again, I don't know if I'll be able to do it :( I guess I'm going to try to find some fun running events closer to home? I know if I sign up for a run I will train & do it. But, I would like to do more than 5ks but I'm not sure about a 1/2 marathon. Any suggestions for fun runs? I am in western PA/border of Ohio if anyone knows of any within a couple hours from me. Thanks!
I let DSs rent video games tonight since we have a three day weekend. This is a rare treat & they only got them because they each had a gift card which covered the full cost. That probably sounds mean, but we limit video games & tablet time during the school week plus it's too expensive to rent games. So I let them about once a month (or even less). They are pretty excited. We also rented Frankenweenie! I hope it's cute.
The plan for this weekend is to start packing. I have a Disney stash going right now & I just need to organize it more...like in a suitcase :lmao: I also want to get everything ready for in the parks (my purse). DS9 decided he wants to get autographs, so I used the design thread for pictures & made an autograph book on Walgreens website. I don't think I have anything else to buy, but I am going to make a menu & grocery list tonight, so if I think of anything else for the trip I can run by Walmart.
My major dilemma this trip is DS6 and a stroller. I know when we went 2 years ago, DS9 was 7 and even used the stroller a few times to sit and relax. I told DH I think we should go ahead and rent one from off site just in case, but he thinks I'm crazy & DS6 will not need a stroller. DH doesn't want to lug a stroller on the buses & spend more money. I would rather have it just in case. I have a good feeling DS will be tired with 5 days in the parks. And, since the parks close earlier, we plan to stay in the parks most of the day. Bah! Anyone have any experience with this? Advice? Thanks!
Well, I'm off to put a load of laundry away and make my menu & grocery list. So, have a great night!
Jill- I know there is a 10k at the end of September in Pittsburgh and a 10k (or something like that) in Ohio near sugarcreek in the fall. The Pittsburgh marathon has a relay team option that u can have from 2-5 team members (in may). Pittsburgh is also getting a rock and roll marathon in August as is Cleveland in October. Im I'm a similar location and starting my nearby race research as well. I'll let you know what I find out. The runners world half is near Philly I think, and I hear the dc races are nice as well. (not sure how far you want to travel). Hershey PA also has a race and I think buffalo and Erie do as well. I've never done any of these so I can't speak from experience.
QUESTION OF THE DAY SATURDAY JAN 19:
If someone asked you what your secret to consistent weight loss is, what would you tell them?
Bonus QOTD: Who's going to Disney this year???
********************************************************
My secret is movement! I can stick to my daily points all I want, but unless I move and exercise in some fashion the weight just won't come off. So MOVE!!! I need to get back to doing Zumba at home. In fact this :banana: looks a lot like me doing Zumba. lol
I am most definitely going to Disney in May of this year. Can't wait!! :woohoo:
It made me chuckle a bit when I saw your secret is movement because I was going to say the opposite thing. The secret for me is my diet. I have to eliminate most of my carbs and stick with vegies, lean meat and fruit. I can run 8 miles a day and I still don't lose weight unless I eat right. So I guess the trick truly is to eat right and keep moving.
We're planning a Disney trip in August and I can't wait! I haven't been to Florida since Jan 2012 and my kids haven't been since June 2011. Too long for me!
***************
Howdy folks! I FINALLY started the training for my new job today... at least the web-based training. While I am SURE that the job will be great, the training is a bit boring and I can't STAND just sitting still doing NOTHING but listening!
What is your new job and when does it start?
BTW, I think I forgot to mention..... DD got a call week accepting her to her TOP CHOICE COLLEGE!! Now we just need the paperwork and hopefully they will "show me the money!" :rotfl2: Looks like she will be heading to Roger Williams University in southern Rhode Island. Still waiting to hear from 4 other schools, but this was her number one choice. Of course, it will depend on any $$ offers from the other schools, plus swim coach input. :cool1: That is awesome! Will she be swimming in college?
We have just started the search for DD17. She is a Jr. Going to be doing some visits over the next few months.
I'm up and running again! I was sidelined with the Stomach Flu  I feel like I am finally getting my strength back! On a side note, I finally lost some pounds  if I could, I would pencil in the stomach flu one weekend a month as my weight loss plan!
The problem is she picked P F Changs for her birthday dinner. Yikes! I've been scouring the menu to find an app and dinner combo that comes in under 1000 calories?? Help! Plus I'd like a martini
:rotfl2: Sometimes those nasty bugs can have a small silver lining! I try to look at my IBS flare ups like that. What an easy way to lose weight!
I have never eaten at PF Changs or seen their menu but when you order ask them to bring a box with your meal (or ask for one when you get it) and immediately put at least half of it in the box. See if they can alter things by not using butter or oil or bringing sauce on the side or subbing extra veggies. Can you share an app with others at the table and only eat "one"?
Remember that your weight loss for a lifetime is not dependent on this one meal. Enjoy yourself but try to keep it reasonable and then balance it with super light meals that day and the next few days and some extra exercise.
QOTD for Friday, January 18, 2013:
What's your favorite form of exercise?
Bonus QOTD: Describe yourself in 10 words or less.
Walking back and forth to the refrigerator. . .
Seriously though, I have been very honest about the fact that I do not like intentional exercise. At all. None of it. Hate it, hate it, hate it. Always have and probably always will. I have better things that I want to do with my time. I find it boring. I hate to sweat. I am uncoordinated and frankly, just lazy. This is made even more difficult now because of the issues I have with my feet. And I have tried just about everything. That said, if someone told me I would have to exercise everyday or be struck down dead instantly I would chose swimming or walking.
Bonus: A whole lot of fun to spend time with. :joker:
QUESTION OF THE DAY SATURDAY JAN 19:
If someone asked you what your secret to consistent weight loss is, what would you tell them?
Bonus QOTD: Who's going to Disney this year???
Eating right as often as possible. I spent the last year "off" of my diet and because of some food challenges I was doing to try to figure out what was making sick I gained about 5-10 pounds but it leveled off as soon as I went back to my "normal" way of trying to eat low carb and healthy.
Most likely not Disney trip this year but maybe in 2014. DD17 wants to go to Disney and Universal to celebrate her HS graduation. The band is going to Disney next school year but the cost is so high that she may skip it and just do a family trip. She really wants to go to Universal with daddy. She went with the band last year and just kept texting that she wished daddy was there to ride the rides with her. She is daddy's girl in many ways and they truly enjoy doing a lot of things together. She is also very much like me in that she likes to be able to do what she wants to so touring the parks with non like minded friends was just not much fun to her. She isn't sure it is worth it to go to Disney with them.
P-- this is the water bottle I use now and I LOOOOOOOVE it! Bought it at Kmart and it runs about $20--worth every penny! They say it keeps things cold for up to 12 hours but they lie-- I have had it keep things cold for over 24 hours! Seriously have had ice still in it after 24 hours. There is a small latch so you can keep it from opening accidentally, but opens easily with one finger when you need it, the "spout" is comfortable to drink from (I don't like straws), and the opening is wide enough for any size of ice cubes. And I just love that the vacuum insulated ones never sweat. I throw it in my purse or bag and keep it on my desk at work without a drop of water getting on anything.
I also just bought a different Thermos style at Kmart for coffee. I am a coffee sipper and often it is cold with 3/4 of the cup left. Loving having it in a Thermos so 3 hours later it is still just as hot as when I poured it. And again the lid locks so no spills and opens easily.
:wave2:
Scale is looking good for my official weigh in tomorrow. Hope it stays that way! And I don't have any plans for today so going to try to get a lot more water in than I am usually able to.
DD12 isn't feeling well today. Lots of upper respiratory congestion and runny nose. We had flu shots so I am really hoping it isn't the flu.
We did have a 2 hour school delay yesterday so that was nice except that Friday is my busiest day of the week because there are 2 newsletters I am responsible for that have to go out at the end of the day Friday-one to the parents and one to the staff. With the delay and a few other things that ended up happening during the day they didn't get finished. It isn't a huge deal if they have to wait until Tuesday to go out but I really prefer they are out on Friday. I finished the one up for the parents last night and may do the staff one today. :ssst: I am not supposed to work "off the clock" but I would rather alleviate my stress and worry and just get them finished.
So my husband emailed me yesterday and said those words that I always love to hear. . .
"Want to go out for dinner?" :hyper::worship:
We bribed the girls with ordered in pizza and went out on a date. :woohoo: I was really torn on where to go. I wanted to go to Carrabbas-- really, really, really wanted to go there. Saw a TV ad for a pasta dish I have been drooling ever for the last week. I. want. that. dish.
But it isn't GF and while they have GF offerings, if I am at Carrabbas I want the bread and the pasta. I can have "non pasta" anywhere. I hadn't actually eaten much yesterday since I made breakfast at home at 9 I wasn't hungry at noon when we ordered in salads so I only had a little bit of it. But I knew I just shouldn't have the carbs and that if I had the gluten I would majorly regret it. ( I really wish they would offer GF pasta) So DH suggested Ruby Tuesday's. We tried to go before Christmas because I love their steak and veggies but didn't realize the one at our mall had closed. And I had a coupon for $10 off so I made the big girl (trying to become a littler girl!) decision and picked Ruby Tuesday.
They have 3 different sirloin steaks- 2 are listed as their Fit and Trim offerings and one isn't. I asked the difference and was told it was just the size. The one that isn't is the largest. So I was assuming that means that the calories for the bigger piece of meat aren't under their limit if 700 to be designated as FT. I was hungry and figured if I had leftovers then I would have lunch so I got the big one with the grilled green beans and salad bar. Boy was I shocked when my plate came and the beans and steak were sitting a POOL of butter/oil!:scared1::sad2: The" Fit and Trim" Grilled beans were slimy from the extra fat put on them. :headache: I grabbed a clean plate from the salad bar and transferred my food to it, trying to scrape off as much fat as I could from the beans at least. Lesson learned-- even if you think it will be cooked the way you want BE SPECIFIC. I should have said something like "no added butter or oil" or "Plain grilled"! Or even told the waitress that I was watching my fat and calorie intake so she could suggest how to ask for it to be prepared.
Hoping to get some cleaning up done in my scrapbook room. At the very least I have a ton of papers I need to go through and organize/file/toss. And need to figure out our meals for this week. No school Monday or Friday so that will make for a nice short work week.
QOTD for Friday, January 18, 2013:
What's your favorite form of exercise?
Bonus QOTD: Describe yourself in 10 words or less.
Fav exercise... Crossramp at the Y. I hurt when I am done! Just need to really make a commitment to getting there more than the once or twice a week I do now (other days I do some free weights or aerobics videos at home).
Bonus: Mom, fiance, baker, housekeeper, child welfare specialist, and lover of Disney! :earsgirl:
Good morning everyone!
QOTD: my fave exercise is any high intensity aerobics. Right now I'm doing turbo fire. In m former life (before kids) I was a gym rat and loved spending 2 hours a day 6 days a week at the gym doing free weights and the elliptical and stair master... But I don't have time like that anymore!
Bonus: wife, mom, writer, baker, introvert and sadly lonely :(
Have a great day everyone!
Wow, I can't imagine a gym schedule like that! But more power to you! My sis loves high intensity aerobics too, those genes did not get shared though...
Sorry to see the lonely part, we are always here!
Hi! Back with little to no hope of actually catching up. :) The WDW half was great! I finished in 2:19:02, justifying my corral placement (which I'd worried was too high), and I felt great, albeit tired, afterward. DH and I are planning to do the Goofy in a year to cross the full off our bucket list. Can't believe I'm really planning to do that...
:thumbsup2 Way to go!
I'm so sorry your work day wasn't good. And double sorry you've had to move back the wedding date. But I'm sure it will be a PERFECT day, whenever it finally happens!
Work days are usually stressful, hazard of the job. But I chose it and am thankful to have a job!
The wedding will likely be at the same time in 2014 and that's okay, it will be great when it happens! We have a plan for what we want, nothing spectacular but beautiful... In a cabin on the mountain near our home with just our closest friends and family :grouphug:
How old is DS going to be? My DS turns 15 in less than 10 days! He's my BABY! How did this happen??:confused3
My "baby" will be 12 (he's already 12 in my siggy cuz it was so close when I updated it). My first born, my handful, my mini-me :rotfl: I can't beleive he is almost a teen!!
DH is totally against the trip because of college expenses coming up, but if I can do it for $1000 or less, I should be all set (already have about $800 saved). Sure, I KNOW that the money should go into the college account, but in the grand scheme of things, $1000 is a drop in the bucket and you know what... YOLO!!!::yes:: Many, many things will be changing in our lives in the coming few years. DD won't be here and I am going to miss her like crazy! I am very frugal and believe in saving for emergencies, retirement, etc., but I am not going to spend my entire life saving for "what if" and not living in the NOW! Sure this would be a splurge, but I don't think I would ever regret it.
Definitely do it if you can! So special to have those last moments together before she flies the nest and a GREAT grad gift! :mickeyjum
I put the training on speaker (was listening with ear buds so as not to disturb DH's work), pulled on my workout gear, and started MOVING! Squats, lunges, tricep dips, wall-sits, 21's, jump rope, step ups (pulled a random step stool into the office) overhead presses. I was still able to concentrate on the intro and all of the info, but I didn't feel like I was stagnating and it really went much quicker! I might try to complete a bit more after lunch, but I did nearly 90 minutes this morning and now I need to get on with my day!
:cheer2:Way to go!
BTW, I think I forgot to mention..... DD got a call week accepting her to her TOP CHOICE COLLEGE!! Now we just need the paperwork and hopefully they will "show me the money!" :rotfl2: Looks like she will be heading to Roger Williams University in southern Rhode Island. Still waiting to hear from 4 other schools, but this was her number one choice. Of course, it will depend on any $$ offers from the other schools, plus swim coach input. She already got one acceptance with a $16,000 offer, but it was a safety school.
That is amazingly awesome! Your DD rocks! :cool1:
QUESTION OF THE DAY SATURDAY JAN 19:
If someone asked you what your secret to consistent weight loss is, what would you tell them?
Bonus QOTD: Who's going to Disney this year???
Consistency. I have lost and gained so much weight! If only I had been consistent and instead of having to start over... I would weigh almost nothing by now! :rotfl:
Bonus: Sadly, no :sad: Unless of course we WIN a free trip! :rotfl2:
******************************
well, I got back on the exercise bandwagon did my fav, the crossramp at the Y, yesterday... snuck it in on my lunch hour :thumbsup2 Felt good and looking forward to getting back there again today :thumbsup2
Made cinnamon banana bread with a pecan streusel topping for the family this morning (OK I tried one bite!) but added flax and substituted applesauce for the oil. That's healthy right? Also have creamy salsa chicken in the crockpot for dinner. Really looking forward to that myself! I do have work to do this long weekend (court report due Tues morning) but the system is down today so I can justifiably put it off to tomorrow! :guilty:
I am thinking about giving myself a treat next month, a Fitbit! Or something similar... Anyone have one they love? Or a suggestion for something similar? I would like something to track how many calories I burn and maybe have a pedometer...
QUESTION OF THE DAY SATURDAY JAN 19:
If someone asked you what your secret to consistent weight loss is, what would you tell them?
Bonus QOTD: Who's going to Disney this year???
Tracking my food is my secret! I have been consistently tracking for 5 years now. It really isn't a big deal and doesn't take much time and works so well to keep me honest and consistent and on plan.
Fingers crossed that DD and I are heading to WDW for a long weekend in May!
What is your new job and when does it start?
:cool1: That is awesome! Will she be swimming in college?
We have just started the search for DD17. She is a Jr. Going to be doing some visits over the next few months.
I have never eaten at PF Changs or seen their menu but when you order ask them to bring a box with your meal (or ask for one when you get it) and immediately put at least half of it in the box. See if they can alter things by not using butter or oil or bringing sauce on the side or subbing extra veggies. Can you share an app with others at the table and only eat "one"?
Remember that your weight loss for a lifetime is not dependent on this one meal. Enjoy yourself but try to keep it reasonable and then balance it with super light meals that day and the next few days and some extra exercise.
Walking back and forth to the refrigerator. . .
Seriously though, I have been very honest about the fact that I do not like intentional exercise. At all. None of it. Hate it, hate it, hate it. Always have and probably always will. I have better things that I want to do with my time. I find it boring. I hate to sweat. I am uncoordinated and frankly, just lazy. This is made even more difficult now because of the issues I have with my feet. And I have tried just about everything. That said, if someone told me I would have to exercise everyday or be struck down dead instantly I would chose swimming or walking.
Eating right as often as possible. I spent the last year "off" of my diet and because of some food challenges I was doing to try to figure out what was making sick I gained about 5-10 pounds but it leveled off as soon as I went back to my "normal" way of trying to eat low carb and healthy.
Most likely not Disney trip this year but maybe in 2014. DD17 wants to go to Disney and Universal to celebrate her HS graduation. The band is going to Disney next school year but the cost is so high that she may skip it and just do a family trip. She really wants to go to Universal with daddy. She went with the band last year and just kept texting that she wished daddy was there to ride the rides with her. She is daddy's girl in many ways and they truly enjoy doing a lot of things together. She is also very much like me in that she likes to be able to do what she wants to so touring the parks with non like minded friends was just not much fun to her. She isn't sure it is worth it to go to Disney with them.
P-- this is the water bottle I use now and I LOOOOOOOVE it! Bought it at Kmart and it runs about $20--worth every penny! They say it keeps things cold for up to 12 hours but they lie-- I have had it keep things cold for over 24 hours! Seriously have had ice still in it after 24 hours. There is a small latch so you can keep it from opening accidentally, but opens easily with one finger when you need it, the "spout" is comfortable to drink from (I don't like straws), and the opening is wide enough for any size of ice cubes. And I just love that the vacuum insulated ones never sweat. I throw it in my purse or bag and keep it on my desk at work without a drop of water getting on anything.
I also just bought a different Thermos style at Kmart for coffee. I am a coffee sipper and often it is cold with 3/4 of the cup left. Loving having it in a Thermos so 3 hours later it is still just as hot as when I poured it. And again the lid locks so no spills and opens easily.
The new job is with a popular weight loss company.;) I'm excited about the opportunity, but they are really slow about things! I was hired October 20 but ended up waiting until January 10 before I had a day scheduled to go in and have all of the paperwork witnessed! Now I do my web-based training and then my in-person training and hopefully be ready to help people improve their lives and health at that point!
Good for you for getting a jump start on the college search! Yes, DD WILL be swimming for college. She refused to even consider a school that didn't have a swim team.
I hear you on the exercise! I hate it too! Wish I could find some type that I loved!
Thanks for the water bottle recommendation!
:wave2:
Scale is looking good for my official weigh in tomorrow. Hope it stays that way! And I don't have any plans for today so going to try to get a lot more water in than I am usually able to.
DD12 isn't feeling well today. Lots of upper respiratory congestion and runny nose. We had flu shots so I am really hoping it isn't the flu.
We did have a 2 hour school delay yesterday so that was nice except that Friday is my busiest day of the week because there are 2 newsletters I am responsible for that have to go out at the end of the day Friday-one to the parents and one to the staff. With the delay and a few other things that ended up happening during the day they didn't get finished. It isn't a huge deal if they have to wait until Tuesday to go out but I really prefer they are out on Friday. I finished the one up for the parents last night and may do the staff one today. :ssst: I am not supposed to work "off the clock" but I would rather alleviate my stress and worry and just get them finished.
So my husband emailed me yesterday and said those words that I always love to hear. . .
"Want to go out for dinner?" :hyper::worship:
We bribed the girls with ordered in pizza and went out on a date. :woohoo: I was really torn on where to go. I wanted to go to Carrabbas-- really, really, really wanted to go there. Saw a TV ad for a pasta dish I have been drooling ever for the last week. I. want. that. dish.
But it isn't GF and while they have GF offerings, if I am at Carrabbas I want the bread and the pasta. I can have "non pasta" anywhere. I hadn't actually eaten much yesterday since I made breakfast at home at 9 I wasn't hungry at noon when we ordered in salads so I only had a little bit of it. But I knew I just shouldn't have the carbs and that if I had the gluten I would majorly regret it. ( I really wish they would offer GF pasta) So DH suggested Ruby Tuesday's. We tried to go before Christmas because I love their steak and veggies but didn't realize the one at our mall had closed. And I had a coupon for $10 off so I made the big girl (trying to become a littler girl!) decision and picked Ruby Tuesday.
They have 3 different sirloin steaks- 2 are listed as their Fit and Trim offerings and one isn't. I asked the difference and was told it was just the size. The one that isn't is the largest. So I was assuming that means that the calories for the bigger piece of meat aren't under their limit if 700 to be designated as FT. I was hungry and figured if I had leftovers then I would have lunch so I got the big one with the grilled green beans and salad bar. Boy was I shocked when my plate came and the beans and steak were sitting a POOL of butter/oil!:scared1::sad2: The" Fit and Trim" Grilled beans were slimy from the extra fat put on them. :headache: I grabbed a clean plate from the salad bar and transferred my food to it, trying to scrape off as much fat as I could from the beans at least. Lesson learned-- even if you think it will be cooked the way you want BE SPECIFIC. I should have said something like "no added butter or oil" or "Plain grilled"! Or even told the waitress that I was watching my fat and calorie intake so she could suggest how to ask for it to be prepared.
Hoping to get some cleaning up done in my scrapbook room. At the very least I have a ton of papers I need to go through and organize/file/toss. And need to figure out our meals for this week. No school Monday or Friday so that will make for a nice short work week.
Sorry you had trouble at RT. DD and I are meeting friends there for lunch on Monday. I usually have the salad bar and roasted veggie trio. I ask for "no oil" on the veggies, but I think that they are pre-roasted with oil, so they aren't really oil free, but at least they aren't swimming in it. Sometimes I get the zucchini cakes (although I'm pretty sure they have gluten :crazy2: ) and broccoli instead of fries.
Good luck getting the newsletter done! Enjoy your long weekend.
Hi! Using DH's mobile hotspot because I can't get the free wifi here to work properly. We got here 40 minutes early so that DD could shop for a new tech suit because our tech suit vendor is usually here and of course, today they are NOT.:sad2:
Made a HUGE ice cream cake for DS's robotics team dinner tonight. I am saving some points to splurge on a piece if he brings any home tonight! Packed my lunch and snacks for today and already have them recorded in my food journal, so I know what I have left for points for tonight. No exercise today unless I go out in the cold for a walk. I should have gotten up earlier and done a circuit at home, but I didn't. Tomorrow is another long swim day, but I will be rising early to drive DD to meet the bus, so I'll get in a workout after that...then I'll have to dash into the shower to get ready and drive myself to the swim meet!
I'll BBL to chat some more!...........P
I have had trouble with the scale... I only lost 1 lb! Now I know slow weight loss is healthy, but I have A LOT to lose and it is only my second week so I figured it would go a bit faster than that... I was on OP all week (except missing 2 workouts). Well maybe it's like on the BL, little to no loss on the second week, especially if you had a good loss the first week (I lost 9 lbs). :confused3
And GREAT job on your choices (even with the lesson learned about the veggies) :goodvibes
That is awesome! You would be great at that job! Will you be able to continue subbing? I know from my experience with a popular weight loss company they were usually mostly open in the evenings and maybe a few hours one or two days a week or weekend.
FYI-- Not sure if I ever mentioned it but I actually worked for Jenny Craig about 100 years ago! I was a receptionist, responsible for the payments, answering the phone and getting everyone's food orders together. We were required to wear lab coats (they provided them) so we looked very official!
You are doing great-- don't get discouraged. A lot of those 9 pounds the first week may have been water and not actual fat loss. And as your body adjusts you may have gained back some of that water and of course lost a little more water and fat. While we are on a monthly goal thread and looking at our losses week to week it really isn't the week to week that counts in the big picture-- it is the overall direction that you are headed. As long as you are seeing any loss then you are doing AWESOME! Keep doing what you are doing. And remember that hormones can also do strange things to us so one week you may lose a bunch then do the exact same things the next week and lose nothing.
Was kind of disappointed with my weigh in this morning. Just had a maintain.Was going to go do a quick workout before work today but started watching something interesting on OPB about religion and America and decided not to go. Getting frustrated about giving my all and then just eating away any dent I make with exercise. The only thing inspiring me to not give up right now is that I was finally able to get my long underwear out and wear them under my pants again. It's been cold too so It's a good reward! Not sure what I'm going to do with the rest of my day. I might just go sit in the jacuzzi for awhile before work-- I'm pretty sore.
Jill- I know there is a 10k at the end of September in Pittsburgh and a 10k (or something like that) in Ohio near sugarcreek in the fall. The Pittsburgh marathon has a relay team option that u can have from 2-5 team members (in may). Pittsburgh is also getting a rock and roll marathon in August as is Cleveland in October. Im I'm a similar location and starting my nearby race research as well. I'll let you know what I find out. The runners world half is near Philly I think, and I hear the dc races are nice as well. (not sure how far you want to travel). Hershey PA also has a race and I think buffalo and Erie do as well. I've never done any of these so I can't speak from experience.
Thanks for all the info! I'm going to start looking tonight and see what I can find.
If you want to bring along a stroller, how about an umbrella stroller? They are lightweight and fold up easily. If you were planning a grocery run or anything, you could even buy one when you get there. It would probably save $$ in the long run.
If DH is concerned about lugging it on Disney buses and such, I guess you don't have any other option other than renting one daily. It may save a lot of frustration in the long run. If your DS is feeling tired, he may get cranky and that would make everyone unhappy. If he had a spot to relax a bit and maybe even take a quick snooze, that might make the trip more pleasant for everyone. Plus with a stroller, you have a place to put a small bag with snacks and drinks.... maybe you could recoup your stoller rental cost with that.
***************
Thanks for your suggestions. I'm was still thinking about this last night and think at DHS he'll be fine. Maybe even MK. So I think we'll play it by ear and rent at the parks if needed. I definitely don't want him to be exhausted and whiny. I know it's a lot of walking for a little kid!
QUESTION OF THE DAY SATURDAY JAN 19:
If someone asked you what your secret to consistent weight loss is, what would you tell them?
I would tell them tracking food. I see much better results while I'm tracking consistently. And, exercise as well.
:cool1: I'm going to Disney!! Whoohoo! 6 More days and I cannot stand the wait! :dance3:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I woke up not feeling too great. Not really sick, but just a little run down feeling. I still got to the grocery store and got my eyebrows waxed. I also made lasagna for dinner (I know, it's not healthy at all, but one of DHs favorites). Now I am watching Frankenweenie. It's ok. Definitely not my favorite kids movie but DSs liked it. I think I'm just going to relax the rest of the day and do some laundry & pack. I'll check in tomorrow.

Jill
