Wisdom teeth surgery and dry sockets

Although this is a zombie thread, it was exactly what I needed. My son is getting all the wisdom teeth extracted on Friday and I've been worried about dry sockets.

One thing that was stressed to us was not using straws. Sucking on straws can help dislodge the clot and cause a dry socket. Web MD mentions this, too.
