Wireless Internet Access at Disney??

Does anyone know of any where on Disney grounds if wireless internet access is available? I will be bringing my Digital Camera and laptop and would love the ability for fast access to email pics to family and friends each night.

In addition to wireless, I would even be satisfied with Ethernet access. I plan on staying at CBR.

They have the ability to connect directly into the phone via data port. As to wireless, I have no idea.

Otherwise it's all dial-up.

I don't expect broadband in every room of the All-Star Resort, but I do think Disney resorts are starting to lag on this.

I went past a Holiday Inn Express touting free broadband connections last week.

The Marriott DD has a wireless connection in their lobby. DH just checked. We use my cell phone at the Disney resorts- I don't think any of them have a wireless connection.

We were on vacation last week in Tennessee and we went to a Borders Bookstore in Knoxville where DH got wireless for cheap! (6$ for and hour) to download email. I too agree that Disney needs to get on the ball with this stuff- Gotta go change my countdown clock now

Does anybody have an idea as to what Disney charges to use the data ports in the rooms?

The dataport is just a modem port. Charges would be whatever you pay for a phone call including long distance charges if applicable.

For free? I've got a wireless access card in my laptop and wouldn't mind a quick connection to upload pictures a few times during the upcoming trip...

S/D has unlimited local-access broadband in guest rooms; it is covered under the daily resort fee that you pay.

There is wireless access in the common areas of Disney resort convention centers; that would be GF, BW, Y&B, CR, and CSR. It's not free, though, you have to buy a code. I think it is around $10/day; call one of the convention concierge desks to ask.

There are 802.11b ports all over the parks, but they are secure ports used for CC transactions; no free hotspots.

Phone calls for dial up cost 75 cents a local call. No per minute charges. Be sure to find a local number for your ISP.

If you can't find a local Orlando-area number for your ISP, you can also use a pre-paid calling card to dial back to your home ISP number (at least if you are using a Windows machine.) I've got a Sam's Club prepaid 1000 minute card programmed into my laptop for times when I can't get local access.

That way, you only pay the $.75 connect charge for the 800 number, + ~.02/minute for the call itself.

WARNING: Sometimes hotels will allow 800 calls at no charge, but only for X number of minutes. HRH at Universal is like this; 800 numbers are only free for the first 10 minutes of each call; after that they charge an astronomical rate. I had to do some work with a dialup to my company's secure network while on my last trip, and that 10-minute limit was a PITA; I think I had to re-dial 8 times to get my one hour's worth of work done.
