has anyone been to winter park. want to spend a day away from wdw and parks. heard its a nice place to go TIA

Check out Park Ave, lots of little boutiques and cafes. On Saturday mornings there's a farmers market.

Dh & I visited the Morse Museum in Winter Park. It's a small museum of Tiffany glass. It's absolutely beautiful! Dh is a big 'fan' of Tiffany glass & wanted to check it out. We're actually heading back there in Oct. to see the chapel exhibit that's opened since the last time we were there. I think entry was $10/person (but I could be wrong.)

Definitely head to Winter Park if you can. It will give you a feel of the Orlando area away from the Mouse. Great recommendations given so far. Be sure to visit Park Ave. Tons of restaurants and shops.
