I just became aware of skimo (ski mountaineering) a few days ago. USA Network just showed a replay of today's mixed relay. I had read about the sport having uphill and downhill segments, but I was surprised to see actual stairs on one part of the Cortina course!

I had no idea what the heck was going on the other day when I switched on the TV and athletes took off their skis and started climbing steps.

Apparently this is the only winter sport where Spain is a powerhouse.

USA at 32 medals with one more guaranteed and maybe another one or two possible. Major improvement over 2022 and 2018.

The excitement for tomorrow's gold medal hockey game in Canada is off the charts. Bars across the country are opening early for people to gather to watch. In BC, that means opening at 5 am. My daughter just messaged me that she and her pals are headed to a pub in Ottawa for an 8 am start.

I am fortunate to live in the Atlantic time zone where the game starts at 9 am. I saw a notice on facebook that one of the Catholic churches in Cape Breton has moved the 9 am Sunday mass up an hour to 8 am to accommodate the game being shown in the church hall.

Tomorrow… tons of sobs will occur when the flame goes out… post Olympics depression is real… it’s just as terrible as post Disney depression…

If done in a spin, a knee slide now gets you a level of difficulty. If done in choreo, a knee slide can also elevate the score, since it shows control, grace, and agility in getting up and down.

So, it's a trendy thing to do in programs now, both for extra technical and artistic scoring.

I don't mind it, actually I kinda like it. It needs to be well placed within the performance and music but it must be incredibly taxing to get down and get back up especially the back half of a routine. Plus in some cases that added flare can help give a boost to showing a bit of personality for the skater that we may not otherwise get.

Tomorrow’s hockey game is so big… many provinces in Canada are going to allow you to have a drunk breakfast (alcohol sales are being allowed as early as 5am in some areas)…

I don't have separation issues with the winter Olympics...in part due to all of fall figure events....1984 LA I was house sitting so I remember feeling lost... but summer 1992.... that was sad and I was lost...so much time invested.... but have been watching survivor every night.... that torch runs deep in my psyche

I know many will feel that way.
But I'm excited. I can't wait for the Summer 2028 Olympics. Softball and Baseball will return as Olympic sports!
