Winter in Full Force

I think the poster above you needs to 'chill' - no pun intended! I, too, live in a warmer climate down south (by choice) - no way could I take the cold and snow. I'm a born southerner and love the heat.

It was 'very' obvious that you were joking, but some people may 'dish is out' but can't take it. Wonder what she would say when we're experiencing summer heat and humidity, and she's not! Lots of people do that (just 'reverse' fun) and doesn't bother me in the least.
Enjoy your day - I am!!

Nope.

I wouldn't go into a thread about people suffering through extreme heat and talk about how we are having the most beautiful, crisp summer where I live.

If that is your idea of "reverse" fun, then have it, but I think it's uncalled for.

Actually, I did 'not' post that, and would not post it, but after seeing the bashing she took, and seeing that she was obviously trying to add a little humor, I was just taking up for her as she did feel bad about the way it was taken. 'Written' words can often seem more harsh than intended.

I am not a hard hearted person (actually, opposite). Dh & I have been talking about the misery some of you people are going through, and hardly see how you can take it - except I guess when you have no choice you do what you can!

Stay warm and safe - :flower3:

Good luck getting out and safe travels! Well worth paying for 1 night at the airport hotel to ensure you get your full vacation. I'll be here shoveling...

I never understand why people who live in warm climates feel a need to comment on winter threads, especially when people are dealing with dangerous situations right now in some parts of the country. :confused3

With apologies to the movie Stripes -

If you ever comment in a Winter Thread again, I'll flame you!

I was going to comment that even the Dallas area might be getting a bit of ice or snow in a few days but maybe that's not severe enough? Whatever, all of you dealing with the terrible storms stay safe!

Here in upstate NY and I am beyond sick of this winter! My husband and I work outside and the long range forecast is showing next Friday as a high of 2 and a low of -15 with Sat. and Sun. both being in the double digit below zero's and that's air temp. not wind chills. Show me the global warming! I live in NY not ALASKA for gosh sakes. My son and I are heading to Disney on Feb. 22 but the darling hubby is staying home to run the farm. I know I wont want to come home. Oh and did I mention the weather men are calling for up to a foot of snow over the next two days.

We're also currently in NY. We are from AK originally, and they're having an extremely mild winter. Didn't even get below 0* until after the New Year, and there's basically no snow. (They just had to move the start of the Iditarod to Fairbanks.) My bro asked where their winter weather is; my answer: Boston.

We're in Western NY and it is going to be COLD this weekend! High of 20F today, which isn't bad... but tomorrow the high is -7F (before wind chill). The current wind chill warnings state it may be -40F. With the weather so awful (6-12 inches of snow, high winds, and -40), I am ECSTATIC to leave for Disney in a week!

I was trying to make a joke. I'm sorry if you feel that I was flippantly disregarding your safety. That was not my intention. Please accept my apology. In the future I'll try to remember that not everyone shares my sense of humor.
I live in Cleveland, Ohio and we are getting a foot of snow right now. Please continue with the cold posts from LA. I find the humor in it. :)

:thumbsup2

I grew up in Dallas - Plano actually PG. :thumbsup2 I remember people losing their minds ( and their driving ability) at even the faintest hint of snow or ice taking place in the metroplex.

Oh yes, more is on it's way today for us in the Boston area...we were supposed to fly out tomorrow midday, in the midst of another blizzard. We were able to get that changed somehow miraculously (stalking SWest continually for cancellations!) and are hoping we will get out on our new flight at noon today. Wish us luck...Disney is currently fully booked unless I wanted to pay $600 and up for one night or get a campsite, so we are staying near the airport tonight and will catch the ME in the morning. Will keep checking for a room at Disney until our departure at least. Safe travels to all who are heading to Disney this President's week/school vacation!

I hope you made it out. All we can do is laugh when we look out and see more snow coming down. Looks like we may fly out in between winter storms. At least I get to miss one snow storm even if Florida is going to experience record cold.

Yes we did! We are here now at our airport hotel sending palm tree and sunshine photos back home to my dh.

We got out just in time. Flakes were falling pretty fast as we were boarding. Definitely worth it for the one extra night! Especially since we used points so it was "free"!

I'm in Los Angeles and today is the coldest day we've had all week. High will only be 68 degrees. (Ducks to avoid snowballs thrown at her from the people who live in legitimately cold places.)

dump truck snowball blam pow:crutches:

My car said -5 this afternoon when it took me hour (which is normally 15 mins) to get dd and her friend. Ice is so much fun to drive on. Its like a grown up slip and slide.

Weather ruined our mall/ movie trip for dd friends bday which I promised.

I have been over winter for years. 12 more till I escape. :jumping1:

In Atlantic Canada we've had about 6 ft of snow fall in a 3 week period. Possible 2 ft coming tomorrow. Another foot on Wed is in the forecast. Feb 28th can't get here soon enough!! Bring on Florida weather!!!

Florida weather is going to be in the 50s with nights below freezing this upcoming week. Yay. We are bringing the cold with us. Still better than 18 with blizzard conditions though.

A quick check of the weather shows it is a balmy -14 here in Southwest Michigan. Add in wind chill and it feels like -30.:cold::cold: Makes the 54 degrees Lake Buena Vista is showing at sound like a heat wave!!

Seriously though, be careful everyone. Don't go out unless you have to, and remember to not let your pets stay outside. I'm going to be struggling with that today, as I have a beagle that will stay out all day long if I would let him.

-14F here in WNY with windchill of -36 this morning! Oh, Florida... I can't wait to see you!

Yup...being slammed again in the Annapolis Valley..between 150 cm and 200 cm in my yard already with 40 more being dumped today. I have officially given up. Closed the blinds and ignoring what's going on out there. It can do what it likes until I leave for my trip on March Break. As long as I can dig the car out I'm out of here!!!

2 weeks for us and we leave all the snow behind. I hope Florida warms up a little but no way it's this miserable down there.

Another foot here so far with 6" more expected by the time this one ends. Had snow removed from our roof earlier this week and the "pile" that they made is blocking our first floor side windows completely. Snow banks so high on our street that I pulled into my neighbors driveway by mistake yesterday because it's so disorienting not to be able to see the houses beyond. Pulling out of driveways, side streets and parking lots is basically blind luck because you can't see what's coming. Inch out and hope they'll see you and stop. Took my dd to her bball game at 5pm yesterday and the normally 15 minute ride home took almost an hour as cars were getting stuck trying to get up the hill. Windchill expected to be -30 tonight. School vacation and I can work from home so we may wait to dig out until Tuesday!
