Has anyone been the the winery in Key West or is there even one close
To the port area that we can visit?? Favorite wines??

The key West Winery is at Simonton and Front, just a couple of blocks from Mallory Square.

Florida does not have much of a grape wine industry as the climate doesn't support it. But, there are wines made from others fruits such as citrus and mango.

Very close to it is the Rum Distillery which also has sampling

Love love love the key lime wine. Looking forward to getting some next cruise in November.

We don't have much in the way of soil here in Key West. We're sitting on Keystone, similar to limestone. But we are BIG wine drinkers here. Just went to a Rose' tasting last night- 40 different wines to try at The Restaurant Store. It was fun. Most of the wines we drink here are from elsewhere. The Grand Vin on Duval is in an old house. You can sit on the porch, sip wine and people watch. Then go next door to Flamingo Crossings and have ice cream that's made fresh daily.
Local wines are made from various fruits, like the previous poster said. There is also the new rum Distillery on Southard St.

Awesome! Thanks for the tips!

If you want try different wines, there's a bed and breakfast called The Gardens Hotel , on the corner of Angela and Simonton Sreets. The gardens area is a lovely place to sit and open to the public. They have an area where you put any amount of money on a Gardens card. Then you use the card to buy tastes of wine. They have an area where there are about 30 wines set up in a refrigerated case, going from sweet, on the left, to dry, on the right. Each wine has three different levels for three different prices. So you pick which wine you want to try,put your card above it in the slot, then choose how much wine you want- just a taste for under a dollar,a little more for a couple of dollars,or about half a glass for about 4-5 dollars. The amount of money depends on the wine. It's a great inexpensive way to try different wines.
