Wine packages on Magic

I want to order a wine package (7 bottles) for our upcoming cruise. Does anyone know how this works and where I should call?

Brenda - Have fun on your upcoming cruise! On your first night during dinner, your asst server will walk you through the options on ordering individually or doing the wine package. There will be a card on your table listing the available wines that are options through the package. For the 7 night, it was $249 and they will transport any unused wine in a bottle to the next restaurant the next night (including Palo). We ended up only using 6, and took the 7th with us to our stateroom.

Perfect...That's just what I was looking for. How was the selection? My DH is a little picky when it comes to wine. We drink red and very, very rarely white.

I drink white, and very rarely red! However, that said, the selection was pretty decent. There was a Camus Conundrum (white - sorry) that I went looking for after we got home because we enjoyed it so much. My parents and friends did the package also and did primarily reds, but I'm afraid I didn't pay too much attention. Good variety - and I also recommend the wine tasting event. It was pretty informative, and the trick they do to uncork the Fairy Tale Cuvee at the end is very cool!

...you can chose either their standard and deluxe pacakges. The cost was $159 for the standard and $249 for the deluxe (or whatever they call it!).

There were some decent bottles in the standard package that we got...we drink reds mostly. There was Louis Jadot, Robert Mondavi, Rosemont, Berringer, Kendall Jackson, etc..

The deluxe had some great bottles too. If you can make it till Tuesday, you can get these bottles on St. Marteen for a fraction of the cost. For example, the Louis Jadot Beaujolais cost only 11 dollars!

Anyway, there's my two cents.

Great price, but you'd have to add the $15 corking fee if you wanted to enjoy it in the dining room.

That's true but I did bring a bottle of Champagne one night from our room and they didn't charge me. I guess it is up to the particular server team.

As an FYI, you can get the Conundrum at Cost Plus World Market for a great price.

We bought the cheaper of the two wine packages because there were several wines on there that were good. We split the cost with the other family we were traveling with. We were able to finish six of the seven bottles during the trip. We took the 7th bottle home and when everyone got their pictures back, we got together at our home and showed the videos/pictures, and drank the wine. It really was fun.

They had a table setup outside Topsiders on our 7 day cruise, they had all the info on the wine packages. We signed up at the table, the first afternoon. That night at dinner, our asst. server knew that we had signed up and had a list of wines to choose from all ready for us.

You may want to see if you can spot the table so you can have it all taken care of before dinner.

I only like the sparking wines and wonder if they are included in a package.
I also prefer the dry to the sweet and wonder if anyone has any information on these. Are the wine packages mixed red and white also?

This is a champagne that is bottled specifically for Disney by a California winery - you'd think I could remember who since I had at least two bottles of the stuff on our cruise but I guess I wasn't really paying attention to the label! I don't think you can buy this champagne anywhere other than on a Disney entity / property - I know we saw it for sale at Epcot during the food and wine festival and I think we saw it for sale at the convenience store located in the Beach Club Villas.

Also has anyone ever ordered the wine gift for delivery to stateroom. Want to do this for both ourselves and daughters and wonder how it works out.

DH and I also had the Fairy Tale Cuvee sent to our stateroom as a sailaway gift from my parents. When we were able to acess our stateroom the day we boarded the ship it was waiting for us ... on ice... with glasses at the ready. It's a tasty champagne - a little more dry than I prefer (I really like Perrier Jouet, but there was no way my parents were going to pay for a bottle of that!) - but still good.

I think you can order stateroom gifts, food, and drinks about 60 days from sailing. Maybe it's even sooner than that, but we waited until we received the brochure from the cruiseline and then passed it on to my parents (it was a birthday gift from them, wasn't that nice?). Apparently you just call the 800-number and tell them what you want and which stateroom it goes to. Disney takes care of the rest!

By the way, Brenda is a great name!

Iron Horse Vineyards (Northern California) makes the Fairy Tale Cuvee Sparkling Wine. Faire Tail is made especially for Disney and is available only at Walt Disney World and on the Magic and Wonder. You can't even buy it at the winery (we've tried).

The Fairy Tale ine sounds great to me as I like dry wines but will have to order something a bit sweeter for the girls perhaps the petit fours also to nibble on.

If you look at the bottom left of the page, and click on the "platinum..." link, then click on menus there, you can get the wine list offered with the packages. If you get the less expensive one, you can also upgrade bottles if you so choose for an additional price.

We were a bit disappointed with the wine package on our recent cruise. We had meant to talk to Monica (the cellar master) about our problems but never did.

Our bev. server was new and knew -0- about wine. We asked him about a wine on the menu and he basically read the name back to us. In the middle of the cruise, DCL was out of one of the wines on our list that also happened to be recommended for one of our entrees but no one seemed able to make an alternate suggestion/recommendation. When we went to Palos, we wanted to finish our open bottles but they took forever to be located (they were under the next table number).

Yes, there were some good wines on the list, but the next time I think we'll go a la carte (and bring more of our own, including the yummy caymus!).
