wine bar at AKL

can someone give me some info on the wine bar at AKL, and also will the guard satnd let you in if you tell them you are going there. Are there any other wine bars on property? Thanks

I am not the most knowledagble about AKL, but is this new? I wasn't aware of a wine bar at AKL. I know the Victoria Falls Lounge, but didn't know about a wine bar. Could it be part of the DVC section? I know that was/is going to get some perks.

I would be curious also, if it is going to be something new. We were just there and there wasn't any wine bar a couple months ago.

Victoria Falls has wine, but is a full bar.

To my knowledge, there is no wine bar at AKL. There are three bars at AKL: the pool bar, the main lounge (Victoria Falls) and the small bar adjoining Jiko. At the Jiko bar you can get any of the wines they serve there (wide selection of South African wines). They might pour them at Victoria Falls also.

The Jiko bar is the only one I attend anymore.

I was reading about this in a guidebook recently. I can't remember which one-- maybe Fodor's? I checked it out from the library.

I found a lot of that info to be pretty inaccurate, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was maybe something planned originally for the resort but was later scrapped.

I've stayed at AKL several times and eaten at both Boma and Jiko and have never seen such a thing.

They do have the largest selection of South African wines outside of South Africa with many selectios by the glass so maybe this is what you are referring to. We always like to get a glass or 2 or 3 and go listen to the the stories around the fire.

There is a "wine bar" in Italy in Epcot, Germany has a small one also and Japan has a small Sake bar.

I bet they are talking about the Jiko bar b/c you can get the african wines at the bar in Jiko. And yes the security guard will let you in if you tell them you are going to the jiko bar or victoria falls bar.
