Wine and Dine 2015

The rain doesn't bother me either. It's the thunderstorm and what if factor. I just don't want to be a sitting duck in my corral if a thunderstorm comes rolling along.

Same here. Rain I can take. Lightening nope not running in that. They could even cancel the race if it is lightening.

I'm waiting (im)patiently to board my flight... I too this morning managed to tweak my left quad muscle running out to meet the neighbor and the lawn care people. Ugh! Seriously?! I have a massage scheduled for tonight so maybe it will be all fine by tomorrow morning. Hate tapering. Not just for the reduced running but the paranoia of being so close but yet not there yet.

I'm done thinking about the weather. All I can do is run my best and whatever the weather ends up being ill deal with on Saturday. I have the kitchen sink of preparations w me and I just hope the added stuff doesn't throw me off as I have not run in my hat, or my waist pouch (which I will need if I need a dry place for my phone) or my smart wool socks for a run longer than 5 miles. I have used my pouch for many halfs but not with the running skirt I brought. Does anyone have an opinion on whether Vaseline works just as well as body glide for chafing in an emergency? Bc I have a mini version of both but the Vaseline is smaller so easier to take w me.

Good luck to everyone traveling and working today! See y'all Saturday!!!

IMO Vaseline greatly trumps BodyGlide for serious lube. I stopped using BodyGlide altogether down here because it just gets sticky in the heat and humidity. I like 2 Toms SportShield, but even that's no match for ankle-deep puddles and torrential rain (not saying that's what's coming - but I run in those conditions a lot in summer). Vaseline is my go-to for when I KNOW my feet will be soaked.

ETA: just saw you mention SmartWool socks - I LOVE them! It's all I wear with running shoes anymore, whether I'm running or not. Perfect for our weather:thumbsup2 in FL

Oh AND regarding the "expensive" thing coming off registration and whether they will do it again. I had a thought this morning. Maybe if they offer photo ops with both Galloway AND Meb- dressed in Mickey outfits or something. Then i would go. Lol. And if they let me shop the merch that night, not having to go back the next day.

I am not sure if the RunDisney events follow the same lightning strike rules as the parks and resorts. If there is a lightning strike within 10 miles the outdoor activities stop. I would hope that RunDisney would push the boundary out further since it would really be impossible to pull so many people off the course in short order.

It is the same 10 miles. I believe at 10 it goes into run at your own risk and at 5 it is pull everyone off course.

As a Fl runner, I'm totally comfortable with that - my on-my-own "rules" involve if I can see the lightning actually HIT something, it's time to seek shelter lol! ;)

I 2nd PrincessV's recommendation of Vaseline! I will definitely be taking mine. They will have some out at the Medical Stops on the course. I slathered it on at every one last year.
If rain stays in the forecast, its best to apply it to all areas that will rub... inside of top arms, ladies - all around your sports bra edges, guys - nipples, inner thighs, FEET and... (WARNING... a little TMI but your tush will chafe under wet conditions!:o)
I'm finally packing my stuff~ Super excited. I did my last 4.5 last night in my running "costume". Have to cut the shorts out of my skirt I bought... worthless! Thankful I did a trial run, though. I don't leave until first thing Saturday Morning. tick.tick.tick...

I leave in about 4 hours - eek!! I completely procrastinated packing so I just finally did started it last night at 11am and finished almost 2am! I had a hair appt, followed by a facial appt, and then got dinner with my bro who is coming on the trip with me and stayed at my place last night since he lives awhile away. Then I got up and ran 5k this morning with 68 degree temps and 74% humidity. Perfect right? It was great except the sun was beaming down on me, I hadn't eaten, and I was generally exhausted. Oh well. I felt like I just had to do it since it would help acclimate me to the warmer weather.

Now to finish up at work, and head to the airport.

It would be interesting to see how they handle it. At this years Peachtree Road Race, they had a lightning hold for almost an hour at the corral we were in. They herded everyone (thousands of people) out of the corrals and toward any shelter they could find. They also turned off the timing pads, so the hundreds of people who started anyway received no official time. For those already running, they recommended everyone find shelter but did not actually physically clear the course. I mean where would they take the tens of thousands of runners? For Disney it might be easier since they control much of the route and would have enough buses to pick everyone up if needed.

Just back from the gym from my last pre-W&D workout. And I just crushed a sub from Publix (OMG. Best. Sandwich. EVAR.), and am now planning to take it easy until Saturday morning for the JJ5K!

Looking forward to getting to the Expo bright and early tomorrow - safe travels to everybody! Can't believe this weekend is finally here!!!!!

Is it weird that this made me so excited I nearly squealed in my office? The expos always make me so excited, whenever I go to disney for a non-race weekend now it never feels the same!

Nope - not at all!!

I'm not planning to buy much - medal pins, a W&D hat and a rD jacket (not W&D) for my friend who ran Disneyland with me this year. Excited to see what our race shirts look like!!

@Keels I'll be there with you bright and early. I'm thinking of leaving BLT at about 9.

Disappointed though that there is STILL no updates on the virtual queue. Epic fail NB, epic fail.

We'll probably leave the house around 9:15-9:30, depending on how the husband's morning shakes out. Worst case, I'll head out early to do my biz and then he can go on Saturday to get his bib and stuff.

I'm hoping there is maybe some Disneyland Half signage left over that they're trying to sell. We just redid our backyard, and I'd love to have one of those adorable smaller banners to hang somewhere.

Sitting at the airport bar waiting on a Cajun shrimp Po' boy and sucking down a beer. It's good but not as good as the one I'm gonna get Saturday night :thumbsup2

Man, a beer sounds delicious right now. Maybe after I finish my last big tumbler of water ...
