Wine and Dine 2015

DW and I did the Hershey half as a relay team Sunday, and came in 2:23. I did the start. We were told there were 5000 walkers and runners, and there were no corrals. I was 2 minutes behind the starting line (closer than the Hershey 10k in April), and when we got around the football stadium, it opened up a bit. My trick at that corner: I went from the middle of the turn to the outside. All others were trying to duck inside. I ran a greater distance, but could hold my pace, with relatively clear space all around me.
DW took the 2nd part, and loved running through the Milton Hershey School property. She was talking about both of us doing the whole things next year right after she finished.
Unfortunately, I have this weird discomfort in my lower abdomen. MD visit tomorrow. I'm hoping it is just a muscle upset from over use.

There's a box of food. It was small. I remember Craisins and a bag of chips. There was other stuff in there. I am sorry I don't remember what all it was. There was water, a power aide and a ticket for either a beer or a glass of wine. I was more interested in the beer.

So since they give us the gift card for the after-party, does that mean that there is no food (bananas, etc.) at the finish line? Or is there still some nutrition there and then you can make your way back into Epcot to visit the F&W booths for additional snacks?

There was the standard box if I remember last year (it was wet so IDK). There is also free beer or wine but only 1 a piece.

There was the typical box with snacks, banana and beverage in the finish area last year.

Thank you all--that's exactly what I was hoping to hear!

Yea, I contacted runDisney hoping for the best. The problem is I'm normally a 1:35 runner (will be slower this year), so it won't open up for long with a 5 minute headway, within 15 minutes I'll have caught the 3:30 corral. And will be comfortably in the mix of the 10 minute milers when I get to AK. If they can't help, then creative problem solving it is.

Great run today. I have had really bad runs lately and only did 12 of my planned 15 this weekend. I was starting to wonder why I do this and then I run tonight and I know why. 68 degrees, beautiful scenery, and me, myself, and i on the pavement. Hopefully this high will last.
I hear you! It FINALLY cooled down here and I had the most amazing run the other day: beautiful breeze, cool, drier air - ran at the same effort I've been doing for a short, easy run, but came in almost 2 minutes per mile faster. I neeeeeeeded that reminder that my pace will pick up as temps come down!

Turns out I have a UTI, and I was just prescribed a 3-day course of Cipro, which carries a possible risk of tendinitis/tendon rupture. Since I already have some (minor) tendon issues, I think I'm going to play it safe and not run at all until after I complete the antibiotics. That leaves me looking at a long run this weekend. I was planning on doing 12-13 (my last 13-mile run was a trail half on September 26th), but I'm wondering if maybe that's a bad idea since it will have been over a week between runs. Would it be a ridiculously bad idea to do 10 miles this week and 12 the following week (i.e. 12 mile long run the week before the race)? Or should I just chance it and go for 12 this week?
ACK, nooooooo!!! I also have tendon issues and was once put on Levaquin (same family as Cipro): it was BAD. It's not that bad for everyone, but if you can possibly get something else, I would! I didn't tear anything, but an old tendon injury was not at all pleased with me exercising; had I pushed it, I think it would've been a big problem. And in general the stuff made me feel like I'd been hit by a truck. If it has to be Cipro, for sure I'd skip this week's long run and maybe just do some easy walking. Hope you feel better soon!

GAH apparently I didnt send in a Proof of Time - and now I'm in the last corral. HELP!?!?~!?!
It's not so bad back there! It's a fun crowd :) If your pace is significantly faster than that corral, try to start toward the front of the corral, left side; that'll give you some extra space to get going out of the gate. Once on Osceola there will be plenty of room to spread out and pick up speed. Inside AK, DHS and along the path to the Boardwalk gets narrow and congested, especially in the parks because of photo opps. Exercise patience, make up time where it's safe to, and don't froget to have fun!

The hard part will be running at a pace so much slower than your normal pace when crowds are thick. It can be far worse on your legs than a normal run if you don't practice/train at slower paces.

I know a few pages back there were a few questions about luggage tags not being sent for magical express. I ended up calling Disney because I never got mine and started second guessing if I actually linked my flight. They told me they had a few issues with sending them out and mine had already been sent twice, and are now being sent a third time. It apparently happened to quite a few people where for some reason they were getting sent back not delivered.

Good news is they'll still pick up your luggage for you if you let the magical express people know.

I just called this week and they told me they didn't have my reservation at all. I told her I had an email confirmation from magical express and she kept asking well was it just an email confirming your hotel? Noooo it is from magicalexpress@disney. Com! Haha. Come on now, I am a pro! I know how this all works! So she rebooked it and now I have to hope they arrive in time.

So anyone else without tags should call! Lots of issues.

My parents didnt get any of their magical express stuff. My dad had to re call agin and they said they didnt have it in the system. This was through rundisney. Hoping it gets to there house in time.

Yes, I've run in the back of the pack before - got food poisoning at last years Dopey. Def a fun crew. Let's see if Disney can fix it. I hope they can, I dont think it would be that big of a deal.

So, according to the Disney Parks blog comments section, the women's "I did it" shirt is $32.95, the stemless wine glass is $13.95, and the red hoodie is $49.95. The grey hoodie and the purple hoodie are "performance fabrics" not fleece, lol. I asked about those prices too but he didn't answer that one. :)

The lady I had on the phone called magical express for me. I don't really care as long as I can get onto the bus. I can get my own luggage if needed even though I really don't want to. Having that letter and the tag as proof made me f

I'm glad they at least had my reservation, but maybe that's because I didn't book through runDisney. To be safe I might call end of next week (I'm flying out the 4th) to double check if I don't get my tags. I have faith that they'd be accommodating, but I just don't want the hassle.

I also might need one of those wine glasses. My dining room is all Disney. I have art on the wall and a built in that has a lot of my disney merch in it, and that wine glass would be perfect in there.

I booked room only on my own and DID get my DME stuff a couple of weeks ago (luggage tags are NBD because I pretty much NEVER check luggage... they're there though), BUT... It's not in the blue envelope anymore - it's white and very ordinary looking from the back. I ONLY found it because I was looking through the pile on the table where I dump my mail. Basically if it's not a magazine or an obviously important envelope or a card, I dump and deal with it later. I was used to looking for the blue envelope. The white one with nothing special on the back? Went on the pile.

We almost did the same thing. I got the envelope and thought it was the bill we had been sent several times for the changes we made. This was the first time we had ever gotten paper bills (outside of Disneyland stays) and when the booklet with our Magical Express stuff came in it almost went on the junk pile.

Luckily I DO look through the pile before throwing anything out. But still...

We've done a few trips before where we did not get our yellow Magical Express luggage tags in time. Don't stress if you don't get them~ go to the Magical Express Check-In Desk at the airport and give them your resort reservation and show them your luggage claim tickets. They will take that information and pull your luggage for you to send on to your resort. (Provided you are within the hours the pull/deliver.) Our experience is that we let DME deliver any time we arrive before 7pm. If we arrive any later than that, we pull our own luggage and take it on the bus with us. Otherwise we didn't get it delivered until midnight or after.
