Wine and Dine 2015

I never thought about needing to make a playlist. I listen to Pandora streaming all the time when I run. I wonder if I'll be able to get a good enough signal with all those people or if I should buy some music?

I would probably buy music. I did a 10 mile run this past summer that brought over 10,000 people to our area and I couldn't get much. You should in theory be fine in the parks because their networks I would think should normally be able to handle that, but not sure about the routes between the parks. I know i was frustrated not having music during that run, and didn't stop to switch over to my music.

I've actually stopped listening to music on runs... I switched to listening to podcasts (arts, history, general interest type stuff). It's actually been way better for me because my pace doesn't change according to the beat of the different songs, and the time really flies getting sucked into the story I'm listening to. It might be worth a try to see if you like it.:)

I would download music as well. At Princess, prior to start, my phone had a lot of trouble getting data until the race started. It was similarly slow at the beginning for Tower of Terror.

Some songs on my playlist-
ACDC-Rocker and Thunderstruck
Alien Ant Farm-Smooth Criminal
Theme from Rocky
The Boondocks Saints-Irish Drinking Song
Britney Spears-Work B----
DragonForce-Through The Fire and Flames
Eric Johnson-Cliffs of Dover
Flogging Molly-Drunken Lullaby
Iron Maiden-Run to the Hills
Black Eyed Peas-Pump It
The Ventures-Wipe Out

I have "smooth criminal" and "pump it" on my running list too.

Others:
Missy Elliott: "Pass the Dutch" "Lose Control" "work it"
Beastie Boys: "Ch-check it out" "Sure Shot" "So What'cha Want"
The Breeders: "Saints" "Cannonball" "Divine Hammer"
Cypress Hill: "Ain't Goin out like that" "How I could kill a man"
Beyonce "Run the World"
Billy Idol "Dancin with myself"
Bonnie Tyler "Holding out for a hero"
US3 "Cantaloop"
M/A/R/R/S "Pump up the volume"
David Guetta "Titanium"

I have a few more, but those are some of my favorites

Kenny Loggins "I'm Free".
"Almost There" and "Dig a Little Deeper" from "Princess and the Frog". (My husband can't believe I mix Disney and non-Disney music on my run list!) :D

I have a friend who ran it in 2012 and she said it was so hot, something like 85! Sure that's not the norm but it can happen

I don't remember it being quite that hot, especially once they moved the race to the end of Food & Wine (November). When it was at the beginning (as ToT is now) it was brutal hot. Which is why I don't really plan on ToT being more than a one and done for me.

How do you find out what the "host resorts" are?

On the Travel page of the runDisney site, then WDW Events, then Wine & Dine.

But to save time:
Value Resorts:
All Star Sports
All Star Music
All Star Movies
Pop Century

Moderate Resorts:
Port Orleans Riverside
Port Orleans French Quarter
Caribbean Beach

Deluxe & DVC (because they are interchangeable as far as transportation is considered):
Polynesian Village
Yacht Club
Beach Club
Boardwalk Inn & Villas
Wilderness Lodge
Saratoga Springs

There may or may not be availability for runDisney special rates at a certain resort. You do not need to book through runDisney in order to take advantage of host resort transportation.

On how much of the W&D course is this noticeable?
Pretty much every roadway and sidewalk down here is cambered - it's the only way to deal with our torrential summer rains. So for folks from other places, it's probably noticeable the entire course. It's every running day of my life, so I deal with it a few ways: I alternate sides of the road/sidewalk frequently so one side of me isn't taking all of the brunt of it, I run down the center "hump" of the road in races, often the far outside or far inside shoulders are a bit less pronounced. The worst of it in the W&D course, IMO, is the cloverleaf ramp heading into DHS.

The bridge on the boardwalk is probably the steepest and it's short and near the end so adrenaline will get you over it.
ITA - that stupid little bridge that I've walked and run a bunch of times outside of races looked 20 times bigger at the end of W&D lol!

Speaking of which, what have the temps been like for Wine & Dine the past few years?
I've only run W&D once - last year when it rained the whole time and dropped from a start temp in the high-60s to a finish temp in the mid-50s. But as a central Floridian I can say that early Nov. is the start of when our weather can go either way: could be hot and humid, though nowhere near like August, or a cold front could come through like last year and drop temps quite a bit. We really won't know until we're a few days out.

My ideal temperature to run a race is mid 40's to low 50's, but people from Florida will likely disagree with me on that.
:eek::faint: :rotfl2: I'll take some low-60s, please!

I totally agree with this. I just wanted to stress that I think Disney races are more important than other races to try to make sure you are in the best corral for your running speed if you are wishing to run for time.

If someone has never run a Disney race before, they may be surprised at how things can slow down at certain points in the race due to park specific obstacles. But the parks, characters, and after party is what makes this race my favorite race.
::yes:: Yep, totally agree!

Did this page ever show 'verified', to signify they had accepted your PoT?
Nope, not for me it didn't.

Was wondering if anyone had any songs they really like to run to and would want to share?
I have over 700 songs in my regular running playlist, lol! But I make up new playlists for each race, pulling from that main list. I just ran a half yesterday, so I'll Shuffle and see what the first 5 are...

Everybody Wants Some - Van Halen
Celebration - Madonna
Track 6, Feed the Animals - Girl Talk
Yellow Flicker Beat - Lorde
'Till I Collapse - Eminem

On today's run I tried dropping my walk break to 30 sec, but keeping my run time the same. Finally got under a 13 mm, barely, but I think I'm going to keep working with this. I like seeing the 12 at the beginning of my average pace! Today was a really short run since I was playing with my ratios, but going to keep at this spread (1:30:30) for the next couple weeks to see how I look. I'd love to have a 12mm pace for the 10K we're doing in May for POT, but not sure I have enough time to get there. But anything that starts with 12 will make me happy!

Of course, DH had to show off and go for his run and it popped through on MMR that he race a 9:35mm. Show off! ;) (ETA: He is now complaining that this is slow because he normally runs his PFT (3 mile run for the Marine Corps) almost 10 minutes faster. Man is going to die trying to run with me!)

I have a lot of things said already -
uptown funk
let it go (downloaded right after the princess 5k!)

And I will add -
Scream - usher (ursher)
the edge of glory - lady gaga
supermassive black hole - muse
good time - owl city
the golden age - the asteroids galaxy tour (in retrospect this is very Hollywood for HS!)

This is the best one though - our life by uttara-kuru (aka the pre-illuminations music). I always start dancing to it once they start it in the parks! So running in the dark while listening to it will be awesome :)

Great job on improving your pace. Just keep playing with those intervals and see what works best for you. And your DH is speedy. Wish I could run that fast for extended mileage.

Is it bad that I'm already thinking about ADR's. I'm a compulsive planner! Hopefully we'll convince my dad to come out and watch our kids so we can have an adults only trip. At Princess I tried all new restaurants so I'm hoping we will get to try some new signature restaurants on this trip. I'm thinking:

Friday: Be Our Guest
Saturday: Undecided if we need a ressie this day? Maybe Kona for lunch or breakfast?
Sunday: Yachtsman Steakhouse (this is my must do for the trip!)
Monday: Trattoria al Forno or Narcosse's if we decide on another signature

With food and wine festival thug I'm totally undecided on how many reservations I want to do, but my husband is obsessed with the dining plan and snacking might not be enough for him.

Hopefully I'm not alone in already planning out my trip!

You are sooooooo not alone. :D

I'm really at a loss about what I want to do specifically though. With food and wine going on, I'm not sure how much of our eating will be at the kiosks and how much in restaurants. We are also planning to do the Christmas Party for the first time, so that's throwing off my customary planning since we won't go to a park that day until 4 pm.

Seriously considering another trip to V&A. The cost is insane, I know, but man that place is amazing! Depends if I think I can save up enough money to pull that off by then. We arrive Thursday and leave the following Tuesday... And 180+10 will be here before we know it.

Definitely not! My husband makes fun of my vacation planning because I spent forever adjusting it here and there until it's perfect (but he totally appreciates the results... I'm just a compulsive planner and can't help it). I went back and forth on hotels for weeks until I found a really great deal on Beach Club. But even before that I made him help me make a list of restaurants we want to try. I'm not sure how many reservations we'll want to make yet, though. We definitely want to try new places, but we both really like snacking, so... we'll see. We do want to try one or two signatures -- thinking of Jiko and maybe either Citrico's or Narcoossee's.

We have never been to V&A, but we've saved gift cards that we were given as presents and we have enough to go there, so we are doing it this trip! We just thought since this is our food-focused trip, and it's something we both really want to do someday... it seems like a good time to go for it!

I think we are going to snack around F&W Thursday and eat at Boma Friday night. Maybe early lunch somewhere Saturday. Probably sticking mostly to EPCOT. We have dining plan on res now, but I think we are going to drop it, I don't see us using the QS meals. Staying at CSR in business class so breakfast is taken care of. We still might do kona cafe one morning, I have wanted to try the tonga toast the last few visits.

Does anyone know of specific sites that have cool running shirts? Don't think I'll be able to talk DH into a costume and I too am a little worried about being comfortable. But I would love a red running shirt with big white polka dots or something like that. Just not sure where to look?

If you're looking for custom shirts, but without a minimum order requirement, other WISHers have suggested this company. I've looked into them a bit, but never ordered, so I cannot vouch for them, but just pass on the info.

Having a night race is really going to throw off my eating planning. :) I have no idea how to eat for a full day before running. I usually do it in the morning on either a snack or a small breakfast.

I am struggling with this as well !! I've been reading a bunch of stuff and basically it comes down to "whatever works for you" .. I guess we will have to do somewhat of a test run maybe doing my longer runs at night time over the summer.. Anyone have any suggestions or tips??? TY :)
