Wine and Dine 2015

Wow, just caught up on what is on Facebook and was a little horrified at the way some people were acting :sad2: I feel bad for the people who celebrated getting in only to be torn down by those who missed out.

Am so glad this is a more positive little community.
A massive thank you to those who provided the Active link. You were the reason a lot of us got a registration. :thanks:

I ended up having a lot of trouble getting back to sleep last night as I was suddenly very excited about my very first C2C :dogdance:

I have been trying to decide between doing Avengers the following weekend or doing RnR Las Vegas. I think after all the drama last night I may opt for the latter, thank my lucky stars I got the two runDisney races I wanted this year (W&D and Star Wars), let someone else have that spot at Avengers and have a weekend in Vegas.

i feel your pain Ban26ana. I didn't check here for the link first, didn't think the charities would sell out that fast (I think there were charity spots avail in October last year). Our whole trip was planned around this race, now what? I know everything will be fine and there are real problems in the world, but right now I'm just kinda bummed. :( good night all, there's a great big beautiful tomorrow...

YESSS! We must have some Meet-Ups.
Yes.

We're sleeping in and doing MVMCP on Sunday post-race, but I know we'll be at F&W on Friday night and I'll be in the parks every day from Nov. 2-10.
We'll be pigging out at F&W the entire week after the 1/2. As long as I can SSS I'll be in good shape. That's Soup (Beer Cheese from Canada), Steak (also from Canada), and Scotch (Scotch Flight from Scotland pavilion). A post race meal fit for a king.

That's true that the Florida part hasn't changed, but the additions of Avengers and Star Wars in California has made it easier to do C2C on that side, so more people are trying to get into a WDW race. They definitely need to counteract those additions with at least one new half in Florida. I think it says a lot that Florida half marathons are now selling faster than California, when it used to be the opposite. I know that's not only the doing of C2C, but it's clearly a factor.
The only real limiting factor is Florida weather. Limiting races to October through February. Originally the idea of runDisney was to get people to the parks for an event in the off season. There really isn't an off season anymore. Just slower times than others. They could try for a March or December race.

I was able to register my husband and myself for the 5K and my daughter for one of the kids races! This will be all of our first times doing ay kind of marathon at all!

I've been trying to call all day for hotel bookings but no such luck. Could anyone who was able to book with the promo tell me what hotels are available and price per night? Thanks so much! I am soooo excited!! I have wanted to do a Disney marathon for 6 years now!
Beach Club and Boardwalk are sold out. We were able to book POFQ this afternoon for a roughly 25% discounted rate from the normal rate. PORS was almost full. Try to call in the morning.

Unfortunately, my DH got a reply that all of the $1,000 commitments were sold out and there were two left for $1,700. We passed as that made us a little nervous if our fundraising came up short.
Thanks. Do you know what time that was? This is insane that I can't even get in with a charity. I'll gladly take on the $1700 commitment. I've raised thousands of dollars for TNT in the past.

It was later, maybe 7-7:30, and she said if she didn't hear from us by morning, so you might have a shot in the morning. Good luck! Post your link if you get in and I will donate too!

I think my plan is going to be just expo and downtown disney Friday, 5k and the half on Saturday with a nap and pool time in the middle to try to rest. I'd be down for trying a meet up at WWOS before the race since it can be a long wait. I'm saving my park time for after the race, probably magic kingdom on Sunday, Epcot on Monday and Hollywood Studios on Tuesday.

This is basically our exact same plan except MVMCP on Sunday night. We head out on Monday for a 4 night Royal Caribbean cruise! Whoever said turning 30 is a drag didn't do it the way I am!!!

I'm down for a pre race meetup! I've been telling my DH about all my disboard friends and he thinks I'm crazy! But I think we are all pretty awesome!

Hi all! I was only active on here for a couple questions WAY back before registration but wanted to join the conversation. I am happy to announce that we were all able to get registered for the half (those of us running) and I got my two boys in for the kid races! I'm also glad to come over here after being horrified at the Facebook posts to see a much calmer and more upbeat environment! I was starting to feel discouraged after all the posts about how terrible Disney is because they didn't get in the race. I do feel bad that some people didn't get their whole group signed up or missed out entirely but the dramatics are intense over there.

We will be at Disney World 11/6-11/16! It will be our longest trip to date and first RunDisney experience and I'm excited for both.

man that was crazy today I was kinda watching to see what happened in anticipation of Marathon weekend 2016, I was able to get through to the reg. page a couple of different times when I clicked over but didn't go any farther than that, I did run into the wait line that a number of people spoke of but my wait I think said 6 mins, It seemed to me there was a massive rush right at noon that caused problems but im no expert, I was on my phone so I didn't have the active link that seemed to be a godsend for you guys, I wont have that problem for marathon registration luckily heres hoping that reg isn't as crazy as this one was.

I think there were a number of contributing factors that made this one especially crazy this time around, most of wich have been spoken about already I think the top 3 would be:
#1 No TOT so more people may be planning trips around W&D
#2 only night race
#3 better course than the other halfs

people on facebook are always way more dramatic than necessary, I remember the uproar when the posted the calendar with no ToT on it:sad::sad::sad::sad:

I'm working the graveyard shift right now. You have no idea how happy you made me. No, it's not a guarantee. But it's a glimmer of hope to get me through the night lol!!

Hi all,

I am a voracious reader of the disboards in general, but I stalk the runDisney threads almost daily even though I hardly ever post (I guess I don't think I have much to contribute). I just wanted to thank you for all the information you've accumulated here as a community. I was prepped and ready at go-time this morning to register myself and my husband. I didn't have any issues and was printing out both confirmation receipts by 9:03 pst. I wasn't even aware of the drama and chaos until after work this afternoon. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Without the link, who knows if I would have had the same story to tell.

We're Disneyland vets, but this is our first trip to Florida. We're so excited (but a little overwhelmed -- planning this all seems so unwieldy), and I'm thankful for all you folks who make this forum so awesome!

In other news, I booked our airfare for our January non-run trip! We're going to be there for my daughter's 9th birthday. Tonight she was trying to figure out where she wanted to eat on her birthday. She settled on Sci-Fi. I'm sure she'll change her mind 15 billion times before we make our ADRs.

With all the hotel talk, I'm glad we booked POR a bit ago, even though we weren't officially "in". Takes that stress off everything.

OK, I want to be sure I have the dates right, but if we're checking in on November 5th, when can we make ADR's (I think I calculated May something or other) and FP+ (I figured out to be the week of my birthday, around September 6) - does that sounds about right?

I grew up at WDW, my parents live 10 minutes from Downtown Disney and my first job was in Entertainment at Magic Kingdom (RIP, SpectroMagic).

I just went to Disneyland for the first time this past summer and fell in love. I hope I can help you feel the same way about WDW!!!

My wife has ADR set in our calender for 5/9. We arrive the same day. First FP+ would be 9/6.

Just remember on Sunday, you may sleep in a little later than normal (especially if you close down the after party) and the Magic Kingdom closes at 7pm to standard day guests, as it hosts the first Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.
