Wine and Dine 2015

On the computer... it sounded like runDisney may have had a virtual queue for people who went to the Register link from the runDisney site rather than directly to Active.com. Sort of like a lot of concert or sporting ticket sites have.

Thanks for clearing that up, I guess I really was very lucky because I did use the RunDisney site. I have a VERY flexible schedule with my job right now and can easily stop what I am doing to register. However, I am starting a new job next month and I am just hoping that I will be able to stop in the middle of the day to register!

I went directly from the Run Disney site and got in right away. Like Nicole, I got on the computer several minutes before noon and just kept refreshing until it told me registration was open.
Yeah, I think the queue thing didn't kick in for the first 5-10 min.

Is it just my imagination, or are there WAY more people saying they were able to get part of their group in, but not the others, than any other race registration? I don't remember hearing so much of that at registration for other races.

What happened here is like the perfect storm, this is probably the most popular race Disney World hosts,I don't think that can be argued as it always sells out in hours, then they removed ToT,this race also probably draws more groups than the other races and challenges WDW hosts. You put all those together and have the race sell out within the hour and people are going to be left out.I got in two weeks ago during early registration and I decided to sign up my friends since they have no experience registering for Run Disney races, let alone the most popular one where you have to have the right links and be as ready as possible before noon.I was planted in front of the computer from 11:40 and I was super stressing that I could get them in which I did but it was not smooth as I had to change browsers to get to the billing info for the second person and it almost took me 30 minutes to get them in so another couple of minutes or if anything else went wrong I might not have gotten the third person in so I'm feeling super grateful and lucky and feel bad for all those that couldn't get everyone in.It's obvious what Disney needs to do to make this right, tomorrow announce a full Star Wars weekend for May with a 5k,10k and half as well as do the same by bringing back ToT in 2016,change the course, make it a half, add a 5k and 10k creating a challenge but you have to start giving people options throughout the year,Disneyland keeps adding races and we keep losing them.I have never done W&D before as I always did ToT,if it was available there would be 3 more slots available as getting into W&D is stressful,we would have done ToT and at least ToT doesn't sell out in 45 minutes and is still a very fun race.

I think my plan is going to be just expo and downtown disney Friday, 5k and the half on Saturday with a nap and pool time in the middle to try to rest. I'd be down for trying a meet up at WWOS before the race since it can be a long wait. I'm saving my park time for after the race, probably magic kingdom on Sunday, Epcot on Monday and Hollywood Studios on Tuesday.

We should definitely try and plan some before people can start making ADR's, and FP selections and whatnot. Gotta plan around them lol. Right now all I know that we are doing is eating and drinking around Epcot on Sunday, lol. Everything else so far is a free-for-all since I am clueless with planning a WDW trip.

Yay for meet ups ! We will try! We are tentatively going to be there from the 6th-10th. We'll probably do the Expo the afternoon of the 6th and then either just hang out at the Boardwalk or head to MK for a bit, maybe dinner at BOG. The 7th, maybe DHS in the morning for a bit, then relax at the resort. Sleep in on the 8th and then who knows, maybe MK and then hop over to Epcot? 9th maybe MK. Our schedule is still so up in the air though! Didn't think about it at all till now!

So I guess I am one of the lucky ones that got in today. I just kept refreshing my computer from about 11:50 and at 11:58 I was able to get in. However, I keep reading about people waiting in queue. Are they talking about on a phone or on the computer? This is my 4th RunDisney race and I've never had that experience on the computer. I'm just worried now about trying to get 3 people in for the princess!

I've experienced the online queue before, but never for 20-30 minutes. It was either marathon or Princess weekend.

I had originally planned on ToT this year until they cancelled it. I thought it would be a good stepping stone from the 10K to a half. But when learning to swim, just dive in headfirst! ;)

Oh my goodness! So much to do in so little time! Wine & Dine events, Micky's Christmas party and the Lights in Disney Hollywood...

By the way... Where is Mickeys Christmas party? Magic Kingdom?

The Christmas Party is at Magic Kingdom and is a separate ticketed event (not included in regular park admission).

Remember you run through the lights at DHS so you get a head start there ;)

We'll only be there Friday mid-morning through Sunday night; we're going to WDW in September and again in December so we're going to try to save a little money for this trip by only staying 2 days. As for plans, I think Friday we'll probably just be doing the Expo and maybe hitting up a park for the afternoon; Saturday, rest, relax and nap before the race (being our first half marathon I don't want to tire us out before the race itself); Sunday hit up one of the parks before driving back home to be at work for Monday ( :crazy2: ). Pretty flexible plans so far.

I thought we were going 4-10 but apparently it's 5-11. Our first day will be EPCOT since that's our traditional first day park. We're planning MVMCP on Sunday but everything else is up in the air right now...except the Expo, Half and after party, of course! :P

Well, I got in, but my sister who wanted to do the 5K couldn't get in in time. :'( So I'm excited, but disappointed for her.

I honestly think Disney needs to get rid of the C2C for next year if they don't plan to have any new races at WDW. I doubt it will make registration last much longer, if at all, but it's certainly not helping since there are less options for the Florida leg.
The Florida leg of the C2C hasn't changed in years. Marathon weekend, Princess weekend, and W&D. The ToT never counted for C2C. So maybe adding one or two Florida races would counter act the Avengers and Star Wars add ons in Cali.

I bet there is zero way they get rid of C2C. Not when they just created the pink C2C challenge medal. C2C just ensures (for Disney) that races sell out sooner than later, more than anything else. If anything, they'll probably try to come up with a 3rd C2C around Star Wars/Avengers.
The Pink C2C has been around since 2013. You can actually double C2C in any given year starting last year. Princess & Tink for the Pink C2C, and any other 2 races combined from DL and WDW get your the normal Blue one. A third option would be cool, but both Star Wars and Avengers are at DL.

Our family Disney trip is always for Thanksgiving so DH and I are only coming down Friday-Sunday and then will be back down a couple weeks after for our big Disney fix! Planning to fly in Friday morning and hit the expo and MK and then probably resort/DTD/nap time on Saturday before race. If we can get an evening flight out we'll spend some more time at MK on Sunday.
This is our first 1/2 so don't really have much experience but it does seem like pre race would be the easiest time to meet up. We will obviously all be in the same location and I do think there is a lot of waiting around time. Or possibly at the after party, but if everyone finishes at way different times that could get complicated.

That's true that the Florida part hasn't changed, but the additions of Avengers and Star Wars in California has made it easier to do C2C on that side, so more people are trying to get into a WDW race. They definitely need to counteract those additions with at least one new half in Florida. I think it says a lot that Florida half marathons are now selling faster than California, when it used to be the opposite. I know that's not only the doing of C2C, but it's clearly a factor.

Another random question, but does anyone remember when the medals for last year's W&D weekend were revealed? I'm thinking having them at Tink weekend is way too soon, but maybe around DL half time?

I was able to register my husband and myself for the 5K and my daughter for one of the kids races! This will be all of our first times doing ay kind of marathon at all! 4 years ago I weighed nearly 300 pounds and couldn't walk from the front door to the carport. I am so happy and proud to say that I am now half the person I was then!

I've been trying to call all day for hotel bookings but no such luck. Could anyone who was able to book with the promo tell me what hotels are available and price per night? Thanks so much! I am soooo excited!! I have wanted to do a Disney marathon for 6 years now!

Does anyone know if the ASPCA still has spots available? I emailed them, but I haven't gotten anything back yet. I knew from the get-go that I was going to run with a charity. I had commitments all day today, so I couldn't get online. Now I'm seeing that pretty much all of the charities are also sold out. I'm so mad at myself.

Unfortunately, my DH got a reply that all of the $1,000 commitments were sold out and there were two left for $1,700. We passed as that made us a little nervous if our fundraising came up short.

Port Orleans French Quarter came out to $1127 for 7 nights, Nov 6-13

Beach Club and Boardwalk Villas are booked.

Polynesian was $3583.72 for the same 7 nights plus two adult 7 day park hopper tickets - which I estimated makes the room only about $2938
