Wine and Dine 2015

Does anyone know of specific sites that have cool running shirts? Don't think I'll be able to talk DH into a costume and I too am a little worried about being comfortable. But I would love a red running shirt with big white polka dots or something like that. Just not sure where to look?

What about Custom Ink? We've looked at them, but have not yet ordered. they do have running (tech) shirts.

I actually signed up for the Hershey 10K in April (would have to stay over night as its a long drive) and I was told it isn't certified but the Half Marathon they do is. Not sure why the 10K couldn't be certified too...lol

I'll probably still do the 10K and try to submit it and see what happens. It is time chipped and results are posted online.

Perhaps we will see you in April! Looking forward to that race with DW. Read that there are some hidden hills, according to reviews I was reading last evening.

On how much of the W&D course is this noticeable?
PrincessV is spot on. The course is really quite flat but the camber of the roads is what I noticed the first time I ran wine and dine. I noticed it most on the long stretch into animal kingdom and on the downhill onto world drive (I think- it's on the way back from animal kingdom to Hollywood studios). Since that first race I've taken to running almost all of my races straight down the middle of the road and don't worry about hugging corners to cut excess distance. So far that strategy worked for my second wine and dine and Princess 10k/half. Of course they could change the course from year to year, but if it's the same those are the two most cambered spots I think. Also, watch your footing in animal kingdom, and unless they change the course, watch out for puddles in the AK parking lot! Not last year when it rained but in 2013, something caused massive puddles in the parking lot on the way out. So odd.

As for hills- it's really quite flat. Granted I train in pittsburgh so I can't run 10 feet without hitting a good sized hill. But even so, the slight up ramps are short and/or gradual. Don't worry. The bridge on the boardwalk is probably the steepest and it's short and near the end so adrenaline will get you over it.

I can't wait! I'm so excited to run this race again.

We've ordered from http://www.nduranc.com twice now and been happy with the shirts.

they do have the tech shirts problem is you have to have a minimum order (it was either 8 or 10 cant remember) they do have other shirts that you can only order 1 of but nothing that I would recommend trying to run a half marathon in (cotton is murder)

Oh man I remember the route towards DHS being particularly brutal- I was dragging a little at that point- seeing Vader and Ralph at DHS gave me my second wind though!

It's not an easy race, that being said I don't remember the inclines being too bad with the exception of this one.

Several months ago, I spent a bit of time on their site. You're right about the minimum order (I see 6 for several right now), but at that time there were some where you could order just one in a tech shirt. It cost more, and I think I had to not just look at the shirt make/model, but click through all the colors for each. I may have to now explore some of the other sites that are being recommended, as DW and I want to get shirts made highlighting our greyhound adoption group.

does anyone know if the finish line after party sells out quickly the way the race does?

My usual running route is pretty flat, but PHM towards the last couple of miles was rough on me. There were a couple of ramps in a row and they are definitely gradual, but as a result you are going uphill for awhile. I actually remember a volunteer shouting "youre almost halfway up the hill!" And me thinking whaaaat! I just gave up and walked right then lol. I have a photo I will try and post. But honestly I'd rather just have the hill quick and be done with it (like the dip in front of the contemporary even steeper) rather than gradually going around in a banked turn all the way to the bridge above you.

BUT, TOT took a similar route as W&D through Osceola I believe, and I don't recall having any issues there. Maybe the overpasses are just spread out more? Time to hit up some google maps...

Ok so that black sign is where the ramp starts, and I took this after I made it up to the bridge. I think I'd rather just climb steps up! :)

Usually not quickly at all, the parties stay open for months. But then, the races don't usually go in 35 min either. So really we have no idea with this one! I am hoping that it won't go too quickly, since while a ton of people wanted the race, only so many could register and that is still the same pool that goes after the party tickets as much as any other year?

I'm thinking this years party will go faster than previous years. So many people wanted to run with friends or family members but were only able to get part of their group in. Maybe the non registered will be buying party tickets to still participate in some way.

Whew hot run today (actual temp 85, feels like 87); worked up quite a sweat :scared:

Speaking of which, what have the temps been like for Wine & Dine the past few years?

Last year the I think the temps were low 70's at start, but there was a slow steady rain the entire race. There can be a big range, but usually the temperature has been near the mid 60's during the race. My ideal temperature to run a race is mid 40's to low 50's, but people from Florida will likely disagree with me on that.

May I say a little something about corrals and PoT, since the subject has come up? The BEST corral is one that matches your pace, whether that's way up front with the elites or way in the back with the party corrals.
So please - try not to stress about corral letters or times.

I totally agree with this. I just wanted to stress that I think Disney races are more important than other races to try to make sure you are in the best corral for your running speed if you are wishing to run for time.

If someone has never run a Disney race before, they may be surprised at how things can slow down at certain points in the race due to park specific obstacles. But the parks, characters, and after party is what makes this race my favorite race.

I have a friend who ran it in 2012 and she said it was so hot, something like 85! Sure that's not the norm but it can happen

I live in FL and love to run in about 50-60*.

Had a great 6-mile training run today. Longest I've gone doing my 3.5/1 interval and I felt really good the whole time. Ended up with an overall 10:49 pace which is also my best pace for that distance. So, yay! We are thinking to extend our mid-week training runs to a 4/1 interval in the next week or two and see if we can push that down some more. We basically need to finish a 10K in a 10:30 min/mile pace overall to hope to improve corral placement over the current 1/2 marathon PoT we have. Not sure we can pull that off, but we are going to try.

Random question...I booked our hotel room before we had our flights booked. I have them booked now and was going to go in and request DME transport and add our flight info, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get back to that. Anybody that can tell me how to do that onine, or do I have to call to do it?

Oh, and my favorite running temps are upper 40s - low 50s. That's not likely to happen in FL, though, so I'd take 50s-60s.
