Winds and DL

I was just going to say the same thing. Guess the winds aren't too bad in Anaheim because Disneyland had a fireworks show tonight.

The meteorologist currently on air at KTLA just said that winds will pick up in Orange County on Sunday and Monday. DL currently has fireworks scheduled for Sunday night. At this time of the year, they don't have fireworks shows Mondays through Thursdays.

KTLA just mentioned that DL cancelled last night's fireworks. None are scheduled now until Friday, so visitors in the next few days will get the scheduled projection show.

Was at parks Friday and Saturday, winds were non factor.

Fireworks get cancelled all the time anyways.

The fires are a huge tragedy, but have had no impact at Disney. If anything, we thought the crowds were relatively light Friday and Saturday despite it being the first weekend in a while where MK holders could go.

We were in the parks yesterday. It was very windy in the morning, then died down, then came back, died down. Winds were picking up as we left last evening.

The wind storms we've been having come and go in waves. It’s not just a constant powerful wind all day long.

Since they liked loaded the fireworks before the cancellation last night there could be an unscheduled fireworks show this week once the winds die down since they can’t unload them.

That’s interesting. How long can they stay loaded like that I wonder.

Good point. A friend and I were at DL once and left after Fantasmic had to be cancelled (just before or partway through?). We were monitoring DL's pyro ops channel from our car and saw some of the fireworks when the pyro crew set them off to discharge them.

Pyro ops channel?

F! can typically launch fireworks at anytime of day because of where they launch from since it’s not in the noise ordinance area. I remember getting surprise Halloween screams shows on Saturday nights or random non party weeknights after a party fireworks cancelation.

Nope, not a different area at all in this regard. Santa Ana winds can affect Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties along the coast, plus Riverside,San Bernardino, and Imperial Counties inland. Disneyland is very much subject to Santa Anas.

Here's a National Weather Service map from Wikipedia:

When I visited Disneyland in early November, I was enjoying the rustle of the trees in the Brisa Courtyard at the GCH--until I turned on the TV and realized that that lovely breeze was a muted form of winds that were driving a 20,000-acre fire 80 miles north of DL in Ventura County. All of Southern California is subject to Santa Anas.
I mean the fires are 50 miles from DL.
