So my DD12 would enjoy going on roller coasters while at WDW. I am a wimp due to mild motion sickness. My hubby and other DD11 refuse to try.
In your opinion, is there a ride at the parks that u think is easier? Or more mild in terms of coasters? More specifically these ones, (bc I've never been on): Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, Rock n Roll, Tower of Terror, Mission Space.
Thanks!

EE and RnRC are commonly thought to be the most intense coasters at WDW. Space isn't that bad but the fact that the lights are off tends to intensify the thrill factor. Neither ToT and M:S are coasters, but do produce intense thrill-type effects in their own way.

By the way, your DD12 would be allowed by WDW to ride any of these by herself (the age minimum is 7yo), assuming she meets the height requirements.

I am a bit of a wimp on roller coasters as well. I would recommend in order of least intense to most intense (just my opinion of course) #1 Expedition Everest #2 mission space #3 tower of terror (sit in the back for less intense ride) #4 space mountain #5 rock'n'roller coaster. I have rode on Expedition Everest and Tower of terror dozens of times and love them. Just rode Mission Space for the first time last visit and found it was definitely not as bad as I had expected. I have rode Space Mountain many times because my son likes it but I hate it. Rode Rock n Roller coaster once about 7 years ago and feel I am finally ready to go on again. LOL. This is al my opinion though.

Tower of Terror and Mission:Space aren't roller coasters. But I think all four probably aren't good ideas if you have motion sickness. Especially Space Mountain (very rough ride) and Misson:Space (which gave me motion sickness and I never get it on anything else.) I agree, though, that DD12 would probably be ok on any of these rides at her age, and would be allowed to ride alone. You could wait in line with her at any of these rides and then tell the CMs you want to exit without riding and meet her in the unload zone or exit line.

I have mild motion sickness as well. I can't do things like Teacups or Star Tours, but don't usually have a problem with sickness on coasters. I love Space Mt & RNR, but Everest made me so sick bc it goes backward. I did not attempt ToT or Mission Space bc I didn't want to chance the sickness.

I guess what you should ride depends on what triggers your motion sickness. Good luck!

Enjoy your trip!

The one and ONLY time I went on Mission Space was after it first opened (so before they had green and orange) and I was so Godawfully sick when I got off of it I literally pressed my face to the steel walls outside just to feel the coolness and prayed for death for at least 3 hours after it. NEVER again. As for the others- I love them all!

Thanks, I guess since I have never rode Mission Space or ToT, I didn't know how to describe and in my head, I think "roller coaster", lol
That's good to know that she could ride alone, and that I can wait with her. I hate the feeling of motion sickness, especially, after all the yummy Disney food! Ha!
Thanks!

So, I know you felt bad, but I had to giggle a little about imagining someone with their face pressed against wall!! Sorry, but thanks for sharing!

My son has vertigo and is able to ride all the rides at WDW. If you are concerned about motion sickness, take a Bonine every night at bedtime.

I have to wear a scopolamine patch every day at WDW for motion sickness. With that said - for ME - I'll never, ever ride Mission Space again. I don't enjoy ToT, I really enjoy all the coasters. Rockin Roller Coaster is my most favorite ride ever in the history of rides :). Good luck.

I read the Unofficial Guide before visiting.

I rode Space Mountain some years ago. It's probably pretty tame. I knew to keep my eyes open and focus ahead of me for Mission Space, so I had no problem, and this was before they had the two versions. It's not a roller coaster. Despite my fear of heighs, I rode Tower of Terror once to get my Twilight Zone fan son on it with me. I do not enjoy the sensation of falling, so I will not ride that again. No way would I try RnR or EE. DH rode them.

Soarin' did not bother me, either. You could all ride that together.

Soarin is our family fav!!!! Although if I turn my head it will give me symptoms..
I'm planning to try the Mission Space easier version bc we never have
And Star Tours will give me that sick feeling too.

To pp, the patch would be a great idea! I've worn on cruises before and they helped, just didn't consider for WDW.

I did just what the Unofficial Guide said, too for Mission:Space (look forward, know that there will be air blowing at you so you can breathe, prepared that it would be very enclosed), and I still had the biggest panic attack of my life (and in fact only panic attack ever) the moment the door to the ride vehicle closed. Once you're in, you're in and there's no one to know you're freaking out to get you back out. Never, ever again.

I get motion sickness as well. I would say my motion sickness is "mild." I get sick on rocky boats, in the backseat of a car, sometimes as the passenger in a car if there are a lot of start and stops, and I even got sick once when I was snorkeling and was bobbing up and down in the water too long! I don't use medicine regularly but will take some with me if I know I will be in water for a long time (boat or snorkeling or bouncing around in waves) and I rarely get so bad I throw up.

With that being said, the only rides I've gotten a little sick on were Space Mountain and Mission Space. Roller coasters generally don't bother me unless they are jerky and I feel like Space Mountain is jerky. We rode the more intense version of Mission Space and I think even if you don't have motion sickness that one can get you! I still ride them both when I go though because they are both still fun. I just need a little rest after. I'll even ride the teacups but I don't usually do any extra spinning!

I'll also add that last time we did WDW we did a day at Universal and the Harry Potter ride got me sicker than any of the WDW rides. It was extremely jerky and for no reason at times.
