If our flight still makes it to Orlando on Sunday, we were going to MNSSHP that night. What merits Disney to cancel the party and if so, do we have any recourse or are we out the $30 for 11 people? :confused3

They have never canceled a party yet.

They have closed the park, though, due to a bad hurricane last year. IF they close the park/cancel the party because of the hurricane, I'm sure they will issue credits/refunds. That's my opinion.

BUT if they do not close or cancel anything and its just rain, then it will probably go ahead and they will decide that night whether they'll do the parade and fireworks but they'll still have the party.

Many have reported going to parties in pouring rain. It takes quite a lot to get Disney to close the park or cancel an event.

All you can do is wait and see and ask guest services the day of the party.

We have tickets for the 23rd as well and it is what our girls are really excited about more than anything. Don't get me worng they are just as excited about being down there but this is their first MNSSHP.
We are flying on Sat night... 9 pm flight ariving in Orlando at 11:38.... hope all goes well. As long as the storm is well enough South so the airport won't close I'll be just fine. I'll handle a delay (no prob unless I miss the party) and I am all ready working on my grip for any turbulance we may endure when landing :rotfl2:

I know what you mean, I spent 15 hours making all of our costumes for the party, and now it might be down the drain! That's what we were looking forward to the most-guess we'll have to wait it out. Southwest said they should know Sat morning if they will cancel flights for Sun am, so we've decided if they do, we're going to take off in the van and drive it-I refuse to loose 3-1 bedroom villas at the Boardwalk Villas for a silly hurricane. Hopefully she'll change her mind and head out to sea. Best wishes!

The storm track looks like it would be more likely to affect a Saturday evening party -- Sunday looks to be very rainy, but not enough to cancel anything. You can probably figure that the party will be on.

We fly in Friday morning and we'll be at the party Sunday night. I'm really hoping by Sunday night the worst of it will be past us... :wizard:

Worst case for us is that we "eat" our Sunday evening tickets and get tickets for another night. I just hope I can get an ADR for LTT... was supposed to be celebrating Morgan's 9th birthday on the 23rd there. If not I'll have to plan somewhere else to do it with characters.... Time for my thinking cap to come up with a PLAN B....

We're supposed to be celebrating my DS's(7), birthday at LTT Sunday too!

We've been looking forward to MNSSHP all year...hope everything blows over, and the weather turns out great.

Just an aside....one MVMCP a few years ago had TERRIBLE weather. Rained sooooo hard...there were NO parades...No fireworks, and it was soooo cold. Miserable, truely.
Disney gave tons of people..including us..tickets for a party on another night. So basically refunded our tickets.

I thought that was so nice, especially since we didn't even ask!

Everyone who is planning on being down there this weekend will have their eyes glued to the tv and internet.

Right now according to weather channel.com weather forcast is not bad until you look at WFTV.com ... just made up a back up plan for the week.... :sad2:

I've got tickets for Sunday night too. I hope everything's okay, but it's the only night I bought tickets for. I'm following this thread.

We've not only got tickets for Sunday nights party, we're flying in Sunday morning. Should be an interesting start to the vacation:) Once we make it to Orlando I'll feel better, the party will probably go on unless the weather is truely nasty. Right now it looks like it's getting to Florida late Sunday into Monday, at least that's the current forecast, which is likely to keep changing. I'm hoping they'll have a better handle on this by Saturday.

wilma is slowing down....as of now, the storm track shows wilma still in the gulf on sunday evening (not hitting southwest florida until the middle of the night)....so as of now, you should be fine...but she could still move.....you never know with hurricanes...

Right now (Friday 6:00 AM) they still have no clear notion when--or where--Wilma will strike Florida.

The weather reports are mixed....I must get to work today...cook breakfast, teach, pack, get my kids packed and drive to catch plane for a fun vacation adventure in Orlando. Just hope the weather will be okay for Monday at the MK for my DD birthday.

"Mixed" is something of an understatement!!!
Trust that at worst, all you get is a little wind and rain--or maybe even nothing if this storm heads really far South.

Well as of the 5am friday update, Wilma is stalled over Mexico and will not even approach FL until late Monday into Tuesday. It will be cloudy and windy but the storm should hold off.

Enjoy your trip. :cool1:

Now Wilma is projected to come on shore in S Floirda Monday afternoon! Ugh This thing will never arrive..I want it here and gone. And now there is another possible storm brewing in the lesser antiles. That one better stay away! I am planning to attend MNSSHP on the 28th and with my luck this new hurricane will threaten that. This hurricane stuff never ends for we floridians.

Well, the new forecast looks good for the party on Sunday. My mother and grandmother are supposed to be flying out of Ft Lauderdale on Tuesday morning, so they may end up with an extended vacation.

One good thing for those of us still going is that I think it may be lower crowds due to people canceling early. Last week I couldn't get any ADR at LTT, yesterday I had my choice of 3-4 times. So call if anyone is still looking for dinner ADR's.

I don't see any reason why the party will be canceled. Hopefully there won't be any rain bands, but if there are - we're grabbing a poncho and going anyway.

We're supposed to fly in early Tuesday a.m. And MNSSHP that night. Hope all goes well for all of us.
