We all have great stories of willpower, just wanted to share my really big one from today...In the Faculty Lounge I opted not to eat the chocolate cupcake with a giant mound of whipped frosting with the other teachers...I feel invincible! I am gonna shake these pounds right off! So happy! Let's hear your stories!
Ashley

P.S. I am kind of new and this is my first time starting a new thread. I hope this is okay? Am I getting too involved? I am actually kind of nervous! Weird!

You did a gret job! :)

I had a Baby Shower last Saturday with every food and sweet you could think of. I stayed on program and felt great!

I had to make Peanutbutter cookies, Lemonbars, scones (blueberry AND cranberry) and banana chocolate chip muffins at work the other day (I cook - can you tell? :p ) Didn't even TASTE a morsel! What a great feeling that is!

LittleMissMickey - I think it's wonderful that you have started this thread! Join right in and get as involved as you like. It will help contribute to your success. Congratulations on passing up those evil cupcakes. You'll get to goal in no time!!! :)

Okay, here's mine: One day last week I picked up some Burger King for dinner (I got a chicken ceasar salad). I got my son a value meal and usually I'm not interested in french fries but I found myself in a time warp to the "old days" where I would munch on fries on the way home. Before I knew it, my hand was in the bag and I was reaching for a fry! All of a sudden I realized what I was doing and took my hand (fryless) out of the bag. That was the closest I have come since I started the South Beach Diet on December 1 of last year to having something I wasn't supposed to have. The funny thing is I wasn't even hungry. It was just out of habit that I reached for the fries.

Let's all keep up the good work!!!!

Ashley-You did great by starting this thread! I love to hear victories like yours. It's so inspiring and I call on that inspiration when I'm faced with some evil treat! :D Resisting chocolate anything is super willpower in my book!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Last Saturday, we went to my DMIL's house for dinner and she had made a german chocolate cake. I didn't eat a bite-even though I could hear it calling my name all evening!

I'm so proud of all of us!! It does make you feel great when that willpower kicks in, doesn't it?:D :D

Thank you to everybody who is responding! It feels so fun to hear those little things that we pass up! I have this constant voice in the back of my head when faced with these things, that began two weeks ago when I signed up here. And the voice says... "Would you want to post that on DisWISH?" The wonderful thing about this voice is that it makes me realize that while the food may sound great now, I will regret it later as I feel defeated. I've told some people about this place, and I don't think they quite understand, but I am so glad to have found it! I love reporting back and hearing your stories...I'll pop in with more and more bits of inspiration as time goes on. (I have team captain syndrome...it's hard for me to sit back and not get involved!) Keep posting these wonderful examples of willpower! We are all awesome!

i can relate to the blank looks when asked and I try to explain my unique WW support group *I don't even bother usually to explain that there are ALL kinds of eating plans represented here* and then that I would plan a trip to Disney to walk a half-marathon with people I don't really know? it blows people away.........

he he he --- if they would only open their minds!

anyhow -- yesterday my DD made "The Best Ever Muffins" with two kinds of choc. chips -- after I made my WW friendly banana/blueberry/bran muffins. Well hers certainly smelled better, but my muffins are 1.5 pts each and hers are 5 pts each!

ouch! No best ever muffins for me!

this is a great thread, I will reread this sunday just before I leave for a cookout planned with another couple -- it will not be planned and cooked around healthy eating I can tell you that :(

Way to go on those muffins! The muffins you made actually sound better to me than the ones your daughter made, I guess I'm just lucky in that way.

I want to do the half marathon, too, but I don't know what to do. I'm trying to figure out a room reservation with our DVC membership, but my mom doesn't want to make one until she knows that I'm not going alone! She is always so nervous. I think I would like it alone! Anyways, I'm trying to recruit people to join me in beginning my marathon career. Have you ever done one?

I think it would be a good idea for me to keep checking back for reassurance, too. As for my track record today, I had my lunch and AGAIN somebody brought mini cupcakes. So, today I put my Mini Oreos away and at one mini cupcake. Is that still considered willpower?

Anyway, off I go to the lake for a walk! Take care, all! Thanks for posting!

Thanks for this thread, LittleMissMickey - I love hearing success stories, too! Mine is a partial success. As I was packaging up Easter boxes to mail to my tow grown (skinny) boys, I ate one chocolate covered malted milk ball. But JUST ONE! Hooray for all of us who say yes to better choices!

LittleMissMickey - My husband and I are DVC owners too! Don't you just love DVC? We own at Hilton Head. Where do you own?

Okay, to keep this thread on topic, I have enjoyed reading everyone's successes, they are so encouraging. Keep up the great work!

Good for you for not giving into the temptation of that cake.

My mother is in a nursing home and on her birthday, I had to get cake and ice cream for the nurses. I didn't have even a taste.

Yesterday I DID NOT want to workout. But thankfully I made it to where I work out.....I looked at the stairmaster and it glared back at me!!! We played this game for a few minutes...finally I got mad enough and got on the stupid thing....not for my usual 5 minutes, but for 10!!!! Then I got on the bike for 20 minutes and it seemed reletively easy after fighting with the stair master!!!!

So much victory! So much self-discipline...this is a great personality trait that I am currently trying to instill into a group of fifth graders! I can definitely relate to the StairMaster story...I hate those things, I think I would rather run flights of stairs!

I have been working on saying "No" to some piece of unnecessary food each day...it's working well, and I'm feeling very positively about it.

I love DVC, too! It makes vacationing so easy, and helps me remember that there is more to life than work, work, work! We own at Old Key West, Beach Club Villas, Vero Beach and Hilton Head, although I have never seen Vero or Hilton Head. I hope to get there, soon, I just always end up in WDW! (Not that I mind that at all...I love it!) Have you ever used your points at non-Disney places? This is something I'm considering right now...my friends are getting married in Hawaii next year.

Thanks for posting, I love hearing from all of you! Keep up the great work and the positive attitudes!

LittleMissMickey - you sure have a lot of DVC "homes"! That must be great. DH and I had the Disney cruised booked last year but canceled. I'm taking my little sister to the Grand Floridian on points in a little more than 2 months but have never used our points for anything other than Disney and Hilton Head.

I would love to an exchange to Hawaii one day but DH is not too interested.

I hope you make it to Hilton Head someday, it's a great escape and so different from WDW. Take care!

We have a lot of homes, but they are not my homes. They belong to all of us, my parents bought them with the intention that my brother and I could also use them as we grow older. And well...when we first started out we would buy points as they were available, thus the Vero and Hilton Head points, I do hope to take a relaxing trip someday, but love Disney so much! Zera, where are you in Cleveland? That's where our family lives, and where we moved from.

Anyway...I had the big staredown with the StairMaster today and totally WON! Has anybody here ever worked out to Off Kilter? They are so fun!! Great beats and fun to sing along with. (Do the singing in your head, please...people tend to give strange looks otherwise.)

Keep it up!
