No, their point was that it is significantly more than just $40 more than the ticket price...because most people do not buy one-day tickets.

If you buy a 5-day base ticket, then you are paying about $70 a day - and this event is $80 more than the regular ticket price.

But those aren't the people I was talking about, I was talking about the people who would be buying this event as their one day ticket to visit WDW. The ones who are staying offsite because they aren't in Orlando just to vacation at WDW. I guess the poster that quoted me didn't get that that was who I was talking about. I'm not talking about the family who already has their WDW tickets purchased for the week, its not really worth it for them.

If you think these extra pay hours (money grabs) will not little by little do away with the "Free" (wasn't really free) EMH, then you have left today but you have not entered the world of yesterday nor tomorrow but you have entered the world of fantasy!

I'll see WDW during the next economic downturn. They'll be choking on these money grabs.

However, if they DO take away EMH, in lieu of this, and then we lose one of the big benefits to being onsite, then I will be mad. Why pay $$$$ more for a bed and shower when there is no real benefit?

I think there may well be just enough people who'd pay this ridiculous price, for what is essentially EMH, that Disney will take away EMH in favor of this. WDW has lately become less about "Magic" for the guests and more about separating guests from their last dollar.

The only extras that EMH doesn't currently have are the ice cream and soda. Ice cream and soda are not worth $150 to me. I, for one, won't be surprised when EMH nights (and mornings as well) are gradually reduced and then eliminated altogether when the people who run WDW realize they can just as easily charge guests, at a hefty premium, for something they've been giving away all these years.

If you really get easy and quick access to the rides then I could see this as a draw.

Personally, we are not late hour people. We are lucky if we last for the fireworks. I can see this being more popular to those in their teens and twenties. We are in our sixties.

If I had limited time I could see this as a good thing. I would rather have some hours then no hours.

I do believe this could take away EMHs. I do see this as a better deal for offsite guests.

OK, I apologize if this has been asked earlier in the thread, but here's what I don't get: In what way is this event any different than MVMCP or MNSSHP, which cost half as much *and* give you a special parade and fireworks show?

Does this after-hours event offer a special parade, special fireworks, live entertainment, something? Or are they severely limiting the number of tickets to guarantee shorter wait times? (By the way, I've been to MNSSHP and I don't recall particularly long lines.)

Does anyone else see this as the end of evening EMH hours? I've sat back and watched as Disney has lately started finding many ways to upcharge for certain experiences, preferred seating, etc. And I'm ok with most of them. I realize Disney is a business with a duty to their shareholders to maximize profits and we live in a capitalist society. For some reason, this one really hacks me off. If these "events" are successful (and I'm sure they will be), why would Disney continue to offer evening EMH's in MK when they can charge for them? The reason this really bothers me so much is that I feel like this was one of the true perks of staying onsite. And if they discontinue it, then it will really devalue the price of
staying onsite for me and my family. UGH. Come on Disney- don't make your most devoted customers feel like they're getting the
shaft. Get ready- I predict if these are successful this will be the end of evening EMH's as we knew them.

THAT, & increasing the price of the Halloween & Christmas Parties to $150 pp or MORE.

The parties are rumored, Disney will not deny or confirm numbers, to be limited to 25,000 guest. This is rumored, again nothing official, to be less than 5000, possibly even 3000.

If Disney was going to limit this to 3K or even 5K tickets, they would be shouting that from the rooftops. So either they aren't. Or they plan to start there and ratchet it up from there (as many of us suspect they have done with those party numbers, which is why they have never and never will pin them down.)

They kind of are - the info that went out to travel agents said something along the lines of "VERY limited, well below our usual hard ticket parties" and they did a fairly recent survey of "would you pay extra for 0-10 min lines" so 3/5k sounds very reasonable...now, if they could resist upping that if it sells out is another question entirely & probably why they don't shout #s, lol

As long as they are being vague, I'm not trusting them to keep it really low. I'm just not. Their track record with that sort of thing sucks. So even if it starts low, I doubt it would stay that way.

I agree, this is how they are listing it.

During this special event, a very limited number of guests will have access to more than 25 of the Park’s most popular attractions for three hours after the park’s normal closing hours, with little to no wait.

If they don't deliver on little to NO wait, they are not going to be successful selling this at these prices.

Hate to even admit, I possibly would. If it is really limited - I would be very likely to pay for the extra hours.

Yep!! And since I think the first number I heard for parties was 20k several years ago & they've gotten noticibly more crowded since, I would be surprised if 30/40k wasn't more like it these days...so 3/5 seems logical with 10/15 being fairly likely if they continue them. I only hope they don't work out because even the people who go for it now will feel shorted by the next time, it's kinda standard m.o. these days

But I'll admit, an almost empty MK is pretty damn cool & I was almost tempted until I realized the price of APs for surrounding parks, lol!
