Now that Disney has announced that the six nightclubs (BET SoundStage Club, Mannequins Dance Palace, 8Trax, etc.) at Pleasure Island will soon shut down, will you miss them?

Personally, I never went to any of them.

In announcing what they called "a bold new vision" for all of Downtown Disney on Friday, Disney officials framed the Pleasure Island nightclub closures as a response to their customers, who say they want more broad-based dining and retail opportunities throughout the 120-acre district.

Depends. Does this mean Adventurer's Club gets closed too? Now that's a crime.

Doesn't bother us at all. We love DTD, but never had any interest in the PI clubs.

Personally, I never went to any of them.
We didn't either, Mike.

Since SSR is our home resort, it will be nice to have even more options at DTD. We rarely have a car, so additional dining and retail is appealing.

Lastly, this is the first I've heard of Dis's plans, so thanks for spreading the word!!! :thumbsup2

I'll miss them, mostly for nostalgic reasons. I met DH at PI when I was on the College Program.

I hadn't heard this news, when are they supposed to close? I wasn't of age to go to Mannequins when I was on the CP, and then I had small children. I was looking forward to going soon now that the kids are old enough to stay "home" alone.

I don't go to WDW to shop, I don't really go to the nightclubs, but if the Comedy club and Adventurer's Club are included in the shut downs, then I will miss those. It won't make or break a trip, but AC will be missed very much by my family.

I will miss PI, specifically the Adventurers Club, for purely nostalgic reasons. Haven't been in 9 years, but that is because I have little kids and I couldn't leave them. I was looking forward to returning to the Adventurers Club once the kids were older. I'm really bummed!!

September 27 is the last night. And according to Disney (http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/common/helpFAQ?id=PleasureIslandFAQPage) Adventurer's Club and the Comedy Club are among the closures.

Ok, I'm officially unhappy about this one.

This is the reason we picked SSR as our home resort. We have older child and they love the comedy club and enjoyed AC. This is so sad. I hope they replace these two clubs. I think WDW & the DTD area has plenty of retail & restraurants. What are they thinking? :confused3

We have been going to WDW regularly since 2001 and have never been to any of the clubs at PI. However, my DS9 would be crushed if Disney Quest closed, hopefully it won't.

Never have made it to PI, but my DH are going kid-free in November and REALLY wanted to go to the AC:worried: . Oh well...when one door closes, another door opens:confused3

Won't miss em. DW and I visited PI about 10 years ago back when we had the unlimited hopper tickets. Spent about 20 minutes wandering from club to club before leaving altogether.

I'm all in favor of Disney having attractions to suit all tastes, but it seems apparent that there weren't enough fans for the clubs. If there were, the clubs wouldn't be closing.

So close them down and bring in something with more mass appeal. :thumbsup2

EDIT: I'll also add that I'm hoping this means DTD will have a more cohesive feel all around. For us the Marketplace has always been the draw. Then you've got PI--only open at night--in the middle. And the West Side is basically...the place that nobody goes!?!

I'm not sure how we would ever cover all of that ground if we end up with a DTD that's Marketplace x3, but I'm willing to give it a shot if they add shops and restaurants that appeal to our family.

Serious Downgrade!!:scared1:

Is it no coincidence that SSR sells out the same time the announcement is made?:rotfl2:

Disney Mass Appeal=Each Princess will now have her own bibbidi bobbity boutique at DTDprincess:

We've been to the clubs a couple times over the years but visiting them was not a priority on any given trip. More shopping, dining and other unique offerings is probably a better use of the space. I'll reserve judgement until I see what they replace the clubs with.

I read somewhere a few months ago that this change was coming including Adventurer's Club, however, I seem to remember that Adventurer's Club was going to moved/rebuilt somewhere else on property.

Dennis-

Okay who has that member services email? :furious: Or does anyone know who is in charge of the DTD entertainment district? Wait let me rephrase that because after this it won't be an entertainment district just a shoping and dining district.

I could care less about the night clubs but Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse are in a totally different category.
