Will You Chill Out if I Sprinkle You With Pixie Dust? The End p136 *New TR Link* p138

Ah, one of the beautiful things about villas..room to spread out and everyone do their own thing! Makes for a much more relaxing vacation!
That picture of the monorail track:scared1: I'm sure it's an optical illusion somehow. I mean it has to be. Right?
:banana:For getting to use your Splash FPs! Love Splash at night!

Those pictures of Splash have me wishing I was there right now! Hands down, my favorite ride. I'm glad you had such a nice afternoon, even if it meant not everyone in the group joining in on the fun. Pecos Bill's is our favorite place for burgers in WDW! They are so good, especially with that fixin's bar!

Well what a nice afternoon! I'm glad everyone got time to relax in whatever way they needed! I hope the rest helped Nick and Denny!

Score on the Splash FPs! I have yet to ride that ride! I know! My kids are afraid of the drop, although this summer Sarah went on a flume type ride at our local amusement park, so I think she might be game. I told them they could wear ponchos if they didn't want to get wet.

Your burger looks yummy! Now I feel the need to eat dinner early!

I hope you all stayed for fireworks! My favorite way to end the day at MK!

Fast Past or Fast Fail?

In my last update Denny, Nick,LJ, Matt, and myself had just boarded the train and were headed to the front of the MK. We certainly hadn't had a park commando morning. Rather, we had breakfast at CP, two rides on Space (well the boys did courtesy of extra FP's), a visit to CoP, and Buzz Lightyear. I'm sure it was getting close to 2pm and we all opted for an afternoon break.

While on line for the train my SIL called me to say they were leaving as well. Several of you asked what their touring plan had been.

Now, in my defense, I am NOT tour guide Mike, so I gave my SIL plenty of information prior to the trip. I sent her the planning DVD and directed her to the DIS and allearsnet. Despite that, she seemed pretty clueless when I suggested rides for their MK day. She also later admitted that they didn't use the FP machine because she didn't "know how". Seriously? Is that possible?

So to answer your question, I know they went back on Pirates at least once, maybe twice. I have no idea if they ever hit another ride.

Part of me thinks I should have given them more direction. Part of me says, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink". I thought for sure they would get Pooh or Peter Pan FP's (as I suggested) and then do some other rides. Did they even look at the map? I honestly don't know.

Honestly for a first visit especially, I really do think it's fine not to have a touring plan. Sure, you can get done more with one but are you really, as a total newbie, just soaking it all in if you do that? Maybe not. Rushing from one ride to another is great for some but others might want to get a feel for the lay of the land first. Especially with littler ones. Efficient? Maybe not but I don't see anything wrong with it at all.

Truth be told I had no idea for SEVERAL trips that the FP's had a 2 hour window, we always thought you had to use up one set before you could pull another. We managed just fine. It is hard to let go and watch other folks waste what seems like precious park time, I know we struggled with that on our trip with Jeff's mom and her DH but you know what? They had a great time and that's all that mattered and we, like you, didn't let it slow down our park time so everyone was happy.

Glad Splash was such a hit and that burger looks really good! I've never made it to Pecos, maybe in Oct. LOL! Probably not...but you never know!

Can't believe I was 3 updates behind.:scared1:

I loved the black and white photos from POTC.

I'm really sorry about the rain. The meltdown wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I'm sorry your brother took out his frustrations on you. I'm going to chalk it up to being tired and not in control.

Not being at the park for opening is one of those things that really bother me. I know it can't be helped at times but I just keep thinking about how far behind I'm getting. The more getting there before me the longer I'm going to have to wait. I have promised myself that one day I'm going to take a trip and not hit rope drop but come in late and stay to the wee hours of the morning so I can compare which way works better for getting things done.

Your break sounded like just what you needed. Splash is my favorite ride at MK so that is the perfect way to start your night off.

Loved your last update - who can beat a relaxing afternoon by the pool with an adult beverage :beach: followed by some park time accompanied by people who want to be there :thumbsup2 I know how hard it can be to try to make sure everyone has a good time when you have a big group together.

YAY a fun, pretty much trouble free update!!!

I know - how great is that! ;)

Sounds like you had a wonderful afternoon at the pool, passing the time with some fellow Disney lovers. :goodvibes

I really did. I had a lot of quality pool time this trip and I'm so glad I took advantage of it the way I did. Plus, I love meeting strangers and talking with them. It's so fun to meet a total stranger and then talk non-stop for the next 30 mins.

You know, sometimes the best thing to do when traveling with a big group (and sometimes just with your own family) is to let everyone make their own choices. "I'm doing this- you can join me or do something else" We can all be happy!

I totally agree. I knew we would split up more in MK than possibly any other park.

:cool1: on a much better bus ride

:cool1::cool1: on the CM letting you use your FP

:cool1::cool1::cool1: on everyone loving the ride!

I was so happy not to have any bus drama. Woo Hoo! And, honestly, I don't know if that CM was just being nice to us because I was nice to them or if the ride really had been down. I guess I'll never know.

The reflected train picture is really cool!!! Where is the mirror/window? I don't recognize it.

It's right when you pass the Space Mountain building, so perhaps its on the side of the gift shop section. Not completely sure, but it must be. :confused3

The picture of Splash at dusk is simply amazing! I love how the way everything looks at Disney parks changes throughout the day, but it is always beautiful!

Me too! I love Splash and BTMMR much better at night than during the day. All the night time colors in the park really enhance the experience.

Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your evening. Hope the weather holds out.

The weather definitely held out and I personally had a fantastic evening.

And the beauty of Disney transportation? If some of your group wants to bail, they can!

I totally agree with that!

I'm so glad you had a nice relaxing afternoon after the frustration of your morning!! And good for you for insisting on going back to MK for the evening. I hope you stuck around even if everyone else left! (in fact, I think that would be the best gift for you :rotfl: )

I had a great afternoon. I really took advantage of the pools on this trip and I'm so glad I did. I really have a lot of fond memories swimming.

There was no question that I was going back in the evening. I missed the parade and fireworks once. No chance I'd miss it a second time.

Love the pic of splash at dusk. And I agree, a burger is a must at Pecos Bills (it's the toppings bar I swear!)

Thanks!

Pecos Bills has always been one of my favs. The fixins bar is awesome. Can you imagine the revolt if they ever got rid of that?

Thanks for a superb update

Thanks! So glad you liked it. It was such a fun ride on Splash. It really felt good to see my SIL and her kids enjoy that ride.

Looks like a FUN day !!! I am so glad we will have GAC in October so we don't have to deal with the new FP system !!!!

It was an awesome day.

You are VERY lucky you don't have to use the FP system in October. One of my fav things was to get Splash and BTMMR FP's during the day and bring them back for use at night.

When are you going in October. I've got to check out your PTR.

Hmm I don't really get how you don't know how to use the FP machines? They're pretty simple! :yay:

Yeah. I didn't think I needed to give an explanation on them, but I guess I did. Oh well. She got it later on in the trip.

Your afternoon at the pool sounds great, I really need to start spending more time by the pool on our trips! :)

I love my pool time. I have always been a fan. It might be because I don't get to use a pool much at home, so I really get into it on vacation. It really rejuvenates me for the evening.

Wow, I'm glad you got on Splash with those late FP's, you must have gotten an nice CM! :thumbsup2 I've been reading that some people can't even get during the 15 minute grace period! I really am not liking this FP time enforcement thing they're doing. :sad2:

The CM was really nice and I honestly don't know if the ride had been down between 3 and 4 pm or if he just said that. If he hadn't let me go I was going to use the first trip line. I mean, I really was only an hour later. I showed up on time the rest of the week.

I love that picture on Splash, going up the hill! I've always wanted to try to take a picture there too, but I'm too nervous I'll ruin my camera somehow!

I used my cell and part of me kept freaking thinking, "If I lose this I will be at the Verizon store the second it opens tomorrow". :rotfl:

OMG the monorail beam does look like it's cracked! That's scary, I hope it's not really!

Isn't that bizarre. I mean - I know it can't be cracked, but that picture sure makes it look like it is. Maybe someone smart has an explanation for that.

Yay for a gorgeous pool afternoon! I'm glad that you were able to use your Splash FP's! I've definitely never been brave enough to take out my camera anywhere close to the drop!

I had great pool time through the whole trip. Totally lucked out in that regard.

I was so thankful that CM let us use our FPs. I took those pictures with my phone and I was hanging on to it for dear life.

We've never given Pecos Bill's a try, but your burger looks great!

I swear they have the best burgers there. The best part was we actually ate outside and the weather could not have been better. Loved it.

A problem free afternoon, how wonderful :cloud9:

I know - finally! Woo Hoo!

Those fries look fantastic! I always get the magnificent taco salad but I think I must get some fries also next trip. Im sure Denny was happy to get to Pecos Bills :)

Denny LOVES pecos bills and since he gave up his FP it was only right that we ate at his favorite MK place. He probably likes it better than all the TS options there. :rotfl:

Looks like good times were had by all. I hope Nick wasn't sick for long, what a bummer.

We had a great evening. I was sad that Nick wasn't there, but he's been there so many times. I knew it was better for him to stay home. He actually stayed home the next day too, but then recovered for his last couple days.

/
Glad that you were able to go back to MK for some late afternoon fun. That is how I & DH usually roll on our Disney trips. We have to have that midday slowdown at a pool & of course a poolbar!:beach: before we hit the parks in the evening!

I'm not a fan of Pecos Bill's, my burger was dry. The atmosphere was too noisy for us.

I agree with eandesmom about her view of first time visitors not going all commando.

I agree, there is something about the Pecos Bills burger... YUM!!

It's one of the few burgers I will happily eat. :thumbsup2

So glad you got your ride on Splash and that everyone enjoyed!!!

The kids loved it and so did my SIL. It was great, except for getting wet. :rotfl:

Yikes to the whole bus saga from the morning! Hope you didn't encounter that again. As a general rule I think the buses run pretty well but when they go "wrong" they go really wrong!!

You are so right - when they go wrong they DO go REALLY wrong. That was definitely the worst experience I had with the bus, although I did have one more long wait/ride that I wasn't a fan of.

Hope the cold didn't keep Nick down for long!

He really felt crappy the next day so he stayed home again, but then he was fine.

I hate it when people don't have a touring plan. LOL! Maybe it's just because I spend so much time planning. Of course that's part of what drives my husband nuts.

I felt bad because I probably should have emphasized the importance of a good touring plan to my SIL. I didn't. I figured they would have a few "must-dos" with the younger kids and they would just go do those. :confused3

I absolutely love all of the pool pictures!!

That pool is lovely and I went back the next day with my real camera, so I took quite a few more.

One of my most favorites parts of any Disney trip is meeting people from other places. We always strike up conversations with people. Whether it's when we are waiting in line or if we are sitting and people watching. I've met a few people that don't want to talk, but for the most part I'm able to meet someone new.

I always have the same experience. I love meeting new people and striking up a conversation. I also like being able to answer questions, but I am always careful not to come off like a "know it all".

In all the years that we've been to Disney, I've never been on Splash Mountain. However, my DS and DH have decided to give it a try. I love seeing the pictures of it!

You must try it. It really is a classic and if you close your eyes or just look down at your feet during the drop you will be fine. It's over really fast. Its one of those rides where the drop looks worse than it is.

That burger looks yummy! It must be the Disney magic that makes them taste sooooo good. I've never eaten at Pecos Bill before. Yeah, I know. Crazy huh? LOL!! My guys aren't very adventurous when it comes to food. Maybe we will have to try it. If only for the burgers.

Yeah - you don't have to be real adventurous for a burger. :rotfl: They can just skip all the fixins if they don't like "stuff" on their burgers. I am not a huge meat eater/burger person, but these are good. :thumbsup2

Can't wait for the next update!!

Hopefully I'll get one in mid week. I have a lot of after work activities this week, so we'll see.

Aww, great update! It sounds like yall had a really fun afternoon at the pool. Too bad that Nick wasn't feeling well though! :(

I really did have a great afternoon break at the pool. I took one every afternoon and it really cooled me down and recharged me.

SPLASH IS THE BEST! It worries me that it's been breaking down so often, as I do NOT want to get stuck on my favorite ride. I'm so glad everything worked out for yall and that everyone loved it. It's so much fun!

I have never been on Splash when its broken down. I mean, I have had it stop for a few minutes, but never had it really break down on me. I'm honestly not even sure if the ride was down at all. I think the CM might have just been being nice to me since I asked so nicely. :confused3

I've never been to Pecos Bill but can I just say YUM, that burger looks really good. :rotfl:

If you like burgers you MUST go to Pecos Bills next trip. The burgers are great and the fixin bar is the best!

Yeah, I don't know how you get around that -- some people will just make no effort to research what rides they might like, where they are, how to use the fastpass and just make efficient use of their time, in general. Makes no sense to me.

If you think of the Disney parks like any other park, that's what is going to happen. I didn't want to come across as an OCD planner to my brother's family, but maybe I should have insisted they write down their top 3 for MK and then I could have guided them better.

Good job using your past-due fastpass.

I figured the worst they could have said was "No" and if they had, oh well.

Ah, I fell behind, but I have brought myself up to speed.

Yeah! I am trying to update twice a week as long as I can. This week might be tough, but we'll see.

I have nightmares about the Disney bus system. Sometimes, it works like a champ, and then there are times like your MK morning, where you just want to pull your hair out. I think the worst is being the first to arrive at the stop and then having to fight your way onto the next bus that arrives due to the mad dash to the doors. :scared1: Sorry to hear you had to deal with that, but thankfully you made it to your CP breakfast!

Exactly! That's exactly what happened. I mean, you can see the boys had a seat so clearly we got there before the crowds and then to almost not get on. :faint:

I agree that the opportunity to have character meet and greets, plus lots of food is well worth the price. How can anyone say it's not when you see all those smiles in your photos? :wizard:

I have never seen my nephews smile like that. Every year I try to take a group shot of them and they have never had that glow. So worth it. So glad I added that and that my bro/sil went along with it. :thumbsup2

I love your sick guest story that you told to the Splash CM. And I'm really glad it worked. Because really...would the poor CM rather have listened to that story or dealt with a family that had spent all day in the heat and the crowds, just to make sure they made their return FP time?

I wasn't actually lying. I knew when we left that Nick was already fighting off Denny's cold. I guess I stretched the truth a little. I was also very nice to the CM and if he had sad no I would have asked one more time for the first timers and then I would have dropped it. So, thank you Mr CM!

Glad everyone enjoyed Splash. Isn't it always fun in the evening/nighttime? There's just something exciting about going down those drops when there's no light out. :goodvibes

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Splash at night. I love staring at the castle all light up. It's so perfectly magical. When they changed the FP system I knew that would be my big regret because I always picked up a Splash FP for night time use.

Mmm, Peco Bills...can't go wrong with a burger every once in awhile.

You are so right on!

Ah, one of the beautiful things about villas..room to spread out and everyone do their own thing! Makes for a much more relaxing vacation!

The villa was very spacious and with 4 adults, 1 teen, and 4 kids it worked perfectly. :thumbsup2

That picture of the monorail track:scared1: I'm sure it's an optical illusion somehow. I mean it has to be. Right?

I sure hope it is. :rotfl: I should submit that one in one of those photography contests because that crack is almost surreal.

:banana:For getting to use your Splash FPs! Love Splash at night!

OMG - me too! It really wasn't full night time, but it was dusky enough that it added to the fun. I love both of the outside mountains in the dark. So much better than during the day.

Those pictures of Splash have me wishing I was there right now! Hands down, my favorite ride. I'm glad you had such a nice afternoon, even if it meant not everyone in the group joining in on the fun.

I had a great afternoon. I am such a big fan of pool time in the summer. It always recharges me and then I am ready to go again! :cool1:

Pecos Bill's is our favorite place for burgers in WDW! They are so good, especially with that fixin's bar!

Love Pecos Bills. You know the funny thing is, I have not felt well today and I have no appetite, but that pecos bills hamburger looks pretty good right now. Too bad I can't get one. :rotfl:

Please forgive me for not getting to all the replies now.

I have had a headache, nausea, stomach cramps, and no appetite all day today. I obviously picked up some kind of virus. I'm going to take a break now to try to find something to eat that actually appeals to me.

Yesterday we toured University of Delaware with Nick and I wonder if I picked up something being around all those folks.

Later all!

Feel better soon. Maybe crackers? As usual looking forward to your next post when you are felling better of course!:goodvibes

Ugh - Did you get to your tour on time? Was that the tour that takes you all around the countries? I did it a couple years ago and really loved it. I did the 745am tour and just got there by the skin of my teeth. :scared:

No I was 5 minutes late, but thankfully they had space to get me on to the next one. I think I was aiming to do the 7:45 am too. I've actually done it twice including that time and I've also done the one that they used to do at DCA twice too.

Hope you feel better soon and whatever you caught moves on quickly.

So glad you made it back without much incident. After your morning I was a bit worried.

For a burger - Pecos Bills is the go-to place. :thumbsup2

I love the splash area at the pool! So great for little ones!

I'm glad y'all were able to use the FP's for Splash! :thumbsup2 Y'all look like y'all were having a great time on the ride.

And your burger at Pecos Bills looks yummy!

Well what a nice afternoon! I'm glad everyone got time to relax in whatever way they needed! I hope the rest helped Nick and Denny!

Well, Nick was definitely down with the cold for 24 hours, but Denny was ready to go by evening, so that was a plus.

Score on the Splash FPs! I have yet to ride that ride! I know! My kids are afraid of the drop, although this summer Sarah went on a flume type ride at our local amusement park, so I think she might be game. I told them they could wear ponchos if they didn't want to get wet.

You HAVE to ride it. OMG. Such a classic. The drop is over before you know it, so if you close your eyes or look at your feet you'll be fine. Its definitely worth seeing the whole inside of the ride.

Your burger looks yummy! Now I feel the need to eat dinner early!

Haha - that happens to me all the time when I see pictures of Disney food. In fact, that burger was actually making me hungry last night and I didn't even feel very good. :rotfl:

I hope you all stayed for fireworks! My favorite way to end the day at MK!

Well, I stayed for the Fireworks. Let's just leave it at that, shall we? :rolleyes2

Efficient? Maybe not but I don't see anything wrong with it at all.!

I do agree with you to some extent. If we were visiting during the cooler, less crowded months then no touring plan could be great. But it was June - it was hot. It was crowded. If you have no plan at all then both of those things will overwhelm you. Heck - I don't even know if they picked up a map. :faint:

Truth be told I had no idea for SEVERAL trips that the FP's had a 2 hour window, we always thought you had to use up one set before you could pull another. We managed just fine. It is hard to let go and watch other folks waste what seems like precious park time, I know we struggled with that on our trip with Jeff's mom and her DH but you know what? They had a great time and that's all that mattered and we, like you, didn't let it slow down our park time so everyone was happy.!

Everyone does use their park time completely differently. I have noticed that from reading others' TRs. Some people could care less about any of the rides and spend a few hours in one park in the morning, one park in the afternoon, and one park in the evening. I love seeing how each person/family approaches the parks.

I guess I just feel a little guilty because in retrospect, I should have given them more of a plan. I think they would have liked the park better. I really do!

Glad Splash was such a hit and that burger looks really good! I've never made it to Pecos, maybe in Oct. LOL! Probably not...but you never know!

No - probably not! :rotfl: But, you're right, you never do know! :rotfl:

Can't believe I was 3 updates behind.:scared1:

How the heck did that happen? :rotfl:

I loved the black and white photos from POTC.

Thanks! They were originally color photos, but by the time I edited all the red/orange hue out of them they turned grey and black.

I'm really sorry about the rain. The meltdown wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I'm sorry your brother took out his frustrations on you. I'm going to chalk it up to being tired and not in control.

You are absolutely right. Fatigue had a lot to do with it and then looking at the monorail line for the first time is enough to make anyone feel out of control. I just felt bad that we started off the trip with that incident. I know he was pretty angry that evening.

I agree that being there for rope drop is pretty much the only way to go when there are crowds.

However, I have gone into MK at 4pm in the evening and stayed until midnight and I've found that to be more fun than coming in during the day, especially in the summer. I would be perfectly happy visiting all the parks from 4 to midnight if that was possible. The cooler temps make me feel so much better.

I think that's why I take a break. I could never go straight from rope drop to 10pm. I would be like this :faint:

Your break sounded like just what you needed. Splash is my favorite ride at MK so that is the perfect way to start your night off.

I totally need my breaks!

I LOVE Splash Mountain, especially at night. Sometimes if I start thinking about any Disney ride I might want to be on at any given time - Splash always comes to mind - the length, the theming, the views, the little bit of adrenaline from the drop. Perfection!

Loved your last update - who can beat a relaxing afternoon by the pool with an adult beverage :beach: followed by some park time accompanied by people who want to be there :thumbsup2 I know how hard it can be to try to make sure everyone has a good time when you have a big group together.

Thanks!

You summed it up perfectly. I love pool time with an adult beverage. It puts me into the perfect mood everytime. I feel relaxed, rejuvinated, and sometimes even a little buzzed. :rotfl: Then its time to go on back to the parks.

Glad that you were able to go back to MK for some late afternoon fun. That is how I & DH usually roll on our Disney trips. We have to have that midday slowdown at a pool & of course a poolbar!:beach: before we hit the parks in the evening!

For me its pretty much a requirement. I look forward to that pool time! :thumbsup2

I'm not a fan of Pecos Bill's, my burger was dry. The atmosphere was too noisy for us.

ACK - I hate dry burgers. Bleech! Pecos Bills can be really jammed pack at times, that's why it was so great eating outside. Not crowded and the weather was summer perfect. Makes all the difference.

I agree with eandesmom about her view of first time visitors not going all commando.

I'm never a big fan of total commando. But a general park plan with lots of flexibility is nice. That's what was missing and I didn't realize it until it was too late.

Feel better soon. Maybe crackers? As usual looking forward to your next post when you are felling better of course!:goodvibes

Thanks! I feel much better today. And just between you and me, I ate an entire roll of crackers yesterday. :rotfl: Way to consume tons of calories and not even eat anything with substance. :faint:

No I was 5 minutes late, but thankfully they had space to get me on to the next one. I think I was aiming to do the 7:45 am too. I've actually done it twice including that time and I've also done the one that they used to do at DCA twice too.

When my GF and I were scheduled for that one we overslept and woke up at 7am. I have no idea on earth how we got there in time. Fast taxi, I guess.

I bet the DCA tour is fun. I would really like to try the one at Fort Wilderness. That sounds cool.

Hope you feel better soon and whatever you caught moves on quickly.

Thanks Pat. I feel a lot better today. Not perfect, but tons better. Yesterday I never made it outside of the house or off the couch, for that matter. :rotfl:

So glad you made it back without much incident. After your morning I was a bit worried.

I'm so glad we got back in and were still able to use the FPs. I was hoping we would be back by 5, but I should have know that would be a stretch.

For a burger - Pecos Bills is the go-to place. :thumbsup2

Couldn't agree more.

I love the splash area at the pool! So great for little ones!

That area was perfect for my younger nephews. They loved it. I remember loving that kind of stuff too when I was little.

I'm glad y'all were able to use the FP's for Splash! :thumbsup2 Y'all look like y'all were having a great time on the ride.

We had a wonderful time on the ride and I was so thankful that the CM let us go through. It was wonderful to see my SIL and 3 nephews have a blast like that.

And your burger at Pecos Bills looks yummy!

It was and, despite the fact that lunch is a couple hours away, I am sort of craving it right now. :rotfl:

First off, I hope that you get to feeling better soon.

Second, it looks and sounds like you had a great afternoon...swimming, splashing and a ride on Splash Mountain! My kinda day. Oh and that burger at Pecos Bill's...yummy! I gotta have one every trip.

I hope you feel better Mary Ellen!

What a lovely afternoon at the pool! Sorry the treehouse pool was closed but it sounds like you had a nice relaxing time at the other pool.

I'm glad you made it on Splash Mountain with the FPs! :thumbsup2 And I'm glad everyone enjoyed it. Sometimes the best park times are when you leave the grumpy people behind. :rolleyes1

I hope Nick & Denny were feeling better quickly & nobody else got sick!

:hug:Love the update, MaryEllen.

Looks like the kids were having a blast at the pool.

I'm so happy you had better luck with transportation this update. :thumbsup2

It's great that everyone loved Splash Mountain and it was a hit!

I've yet to have a "good" meal at Pecos Bills. Both times our hamburgers were awful. :confused3

Feel better soon.
