Okay, I am not really asking for myself or DH, but my Mom and brother will be going. The first year we all went together we stayed at Movies, last year we got the Poly. Well, I reaaly got hooked on the whole deluxe thing and wanted to try WL. So we booked it for FTP. Now, I was going to surprise Mom and Brother with the deluxe so I told them we would be staying at Music. They were fine. Mom has been a little down lately so I told her about our deluxe ressies and let her watch the Travel Channel episode I taped. Well, she didn't seem that impressed. Now I worried about her being disappointed with my decision. Should I worry about this or will she love it when she sees it?

(Planning for other people is a PAIN)

I feel your pain!

We are staying at the WL & last time we stayed at the Poly. Before that Allstar Music & Port Orleans. Have you ever been in the WL it is awsome & the lobby is fab.

I think we will enjoy being in one main building & having hot tubs. I also look forward to the food court, I felt at the poly that was lacking. Loved everything else about the Poly.

I think you made a great choice!!

I prefer WL over the Poly, so staying at the Poly would be somewhat of a letdown to me. There are some advantages and disadvantages to both. The Poly rooms are larger and have a day bed. And yes, they do have the monorail. However, I prefer the decor and ambience at WL. WL is all under one roof and there are many places to sit and relax. Take the WL tour if they have it while you are there.

I think your mother will love it! The atmosphere is fabulous and just can't be felt on a videotape. We have stayed at GF but not the Poly. As awesome as the GF is we chose to return to WL for our Christmas trip. The deciding factor to me was having everything in one main building. Of the resorts we have tried, we also think WL and BC have the warmest and friendliest CMs. So don't worry, if your mom has been down lately she may not show much enthusiasm for anything right now. If you do get there and decide you have made a mistake, you could always ask if you could change to the Poly. Good luck. It really is hard trying to keep everyone happy.

Kae,
We're considering the WL but I don't remember a food court from our last visit but rather "Roaring Forks" or whatever that little place was called. It seemed to me that it was almost like Captain Cook's at the Poly. Have they expanded the little cafeteria place at WL to make a food court now? That would be great!! Threehearts

There was no food court when we stayed at WL either-only the counter service(Roaring Forks) and the sit down restaurants. That is the one thing we prefer at PO/Riverside-the food court!

The ambience at WL is great-you can't help but be in awe when you enter.:D

In December we stayed at the Polynesian for the 1st 1/2 of our trip & moved over the the WL for the 2nd 1/2. I had really wanted to see the Christmas decorations at the WL. I have to say I think the WL was my favorite resort we have stayed at (ASMovies, Fort Wilderness, Contemporary, Polynesian & Wilderness Lodge.)

The only thing I really missed at the Lodge after staying at the Poly was the monorail access! It was great - but it's also pretty cool to take the boat over to MK from the WL. My husband's favorite was the Poly, but some of it was just having the monorail. He still loved the WL, too. Hope this helps!

You're mom will love the WL! Remember, she is a little depressed right now so her reactions are going to be hamopered by her attitude.

WL is a wonderful, calm, peaceful and serene resort. It has a great feeling of warmth and charm and makes you feel like you never want to leave. There is a great store in WL that has all kinds of neat things in it. What kind of room are you staying in? WHen we were there we had a courtyard view- well worth the extra few dollars spent on it. At night it was so wonderful sitting on our little balcony and watching the people at the main pool. Hearing their laughter was enchanting! The bl;ue of the water reflecting up with the pool's lights shining from below it! Then, around 9:30 or so- we'd hear the music from the Electrical Water Pageant and before you knew it.... down the river came the dragon- brite shiney green lights and all. Although this is a pretty corny parade... it was so enjoyable to see everynight! BUT my favorite part of having a room there with a courtyard view was the gurgling a hiss of an erupting geyser! I loved that sound every morning as it would gently wake me up. It was so preferrable to that loud BUZZZZZZZZZZZZ of a yucky old alarm clock!

The WL has a beauty that is hard to describe unless you've stayed there and have experienced it yourself! You and your mom, will not be dissappointed- I'm sure!

WHEN are you going? I'm so excited for you!

Thanks for all the replies. I thought I was going to be disappointed last year with the Poly because I really wanted WL, but it was great. I know I will love WL, the themeing is my kind of thing. I am sure she will ove it once we get there.:D
