Will we have a problem?

We are planning to stay at POR in November. (Me, dh, dd2 and dd8) My MIL will be staying at POP for the first half of the vacation, by herself, and then flying home. We would like DD8 to spend at least some of this time staying with her Grandma, who would love her company, while we would enjoy the extra space. We will be on the dining plan, so we cannot book her into Grandma's room and then move her. Will we have a problem if mousekeeping takes note that there is a second person sleeping in her room? We would be happy to tip both places for her, so there is no one getting stiffed. And she will be in the reservation system - just not at the Pop. Any thoughts?

Go ahead with your plan, you're not "cheating" since you're not overcrowding a room, and you don't pay more for adding a child to a room (unlike adding third/fourth adult). No one will mind!

It should be no problem. DD will have her own room key/ dining card with no charging so grammy can get her food. We have never done 2 different hotels but we always take DMIL and last year the kids slept in her room every night for 10 days. It was great! We try to get connecting rooms but usually get side by side.

The housekeepers don't have time to try to figure out how many people slept in a room - they just go in, clean it, and get out. There's no "reporting" back anything other than the room is done. Several of them don't even speak english, and may not be able to count anyway. I don't mean that to be insulting, but in that type of job you don't always get high school graduates (speaking from experience at my job - our laundry workers and housekeepers cannot all count the way a first grader can).

Not only that, but just because a second person slept in a room doesn't mean any 'cheating' is going on.

I can think of quite a few reasons where you would have an extra person 'spending the night'.

The only reason you might want to include her on Grandma's reservation is for a head count in case of an emergency. I know chances are slim, but if there was a fire they would know how many was supposed to be in that room.

If you're comfortable not having DD's name included, then seems it would be fine. :)

On the nights that your DD will be staying with your mother, maybe you could call down to the front desk at Pop and explain the situation to them. I really don't see them saying that you can't do that.

I agree with this. And I agree with mickaholic (can't figure out how to do double quotes) about letting the front desk know that your daughter will be staying the night. There won't be a problem but you might want the resort to know they have one extra person. Especially since it's a child and who knows how she will respond if there is an emergency.
