Will we hate it?

Hi,

We have the option to stay a few extra days after our week in a Deluxe Resort. We would just be doing 4 nights added on but to keep cost down moving to a less expensive resort. Would going to All Star Music or Movies be too much of a downgrade after being in a Deluxe for a week? We could do French Quarter instead for $165 more. What do you think? Would we be disappointed in the Value Resorts after a week in a nicer place?

In my opinion, the jump from value to moderate is much larger than the jump from moderate to deluxe. So, for me, to go from a deluxe to a value would be a very big jump. The beds are doubles instead of queens and the sheets don't seem as comfortable, either. I also don't find them to be as relaxing. If it was at the beginning of the trip, that would be one thing. However, going from a deluxe to a a value at the end would not be the best decision, I think. If possible, I'd look into POFQ (actually, I'd look at any of the moderates first as POFQ is my least favorite) instead.

We've done split stays from Deluxe to Value a few times....BC/Pop, Poly/Pop. We love it! But if you've never stayed at a value before, it's hard to know how you'll feel unless you try. I'd choose Movies over Music.

Oh the double bed issue is a big one! Thank you for the reminder on that! I think we should spend the little extra then and skip the value idea. Why do you not like French Quarter? I've never been there.

yeah, I'm not sure what i will think. Like someone said above, the double beds might be an issue. All of the moderates have queens? Why would you do Movies over Music? What are the cons to Music?

Many people like French Quarter. The theme does absolutely nothing for me. I'm not big into Mardi Gras at all and feel like the hotel looks like the Mardi Gras section of the Dollar Store threw up all over a basic motel. On the other hand, I absolutely love POR. I love the mansion style buildings and walking around the grounds, plus the fact that I can walk to French Quarter and use their pool fi I want. I love the Caribbean theme of Caribbean Beach and think that the food court there is great. With Coronado Springs, I love the romance of the spanish style and think it is extremely relaxing. So really, the combination of liking all of the other moderates as well as not caring for the mardi gras theme is what fuels my decision. But, there is nothing really wrong with French Quarter at all and many people do love its small saze.

I just don't like the layout of Music. If you're in a standard room, it can be quite a hike to get to the buses/main building. If double beds are an issue, you might want to consider Pop. Rooms are currently being refurbished with Queen beds being added. But there is no guarantee you'll get a refurbished room if your trip is soon.

All mods have queens (except for the Pirate rooms at CBR which are still doubles). POFQ is my absolute favourite mod. If you decide to try a moderate, that would be my recommendation. I love the theming, vibe, jazz music and the small size. :)

I'm essentially doing exactly what you are talking about.

I will be at the Floridian, home for about a week, then to Sports.

I'm a little worried, but I figure as long as I have a good attitude, I'll be fine. Heck, I'll be at Disney!

Yes, I lose the queen, but for the first half of the trip I am with my husband. So a queen is important. For the second trip, I am with a girl friend. We will be in different beds, so having a double to myself, I will be fine.

thank you for all of the information. So we can use pools at both the port orleans hotels if we stay there?

I recommend French Quarter.

Ohh nice! Yeah I'm thinking beds might be the deal breaker for me. We have 2 older sons so we will have 2 people to a bed in the rooms so a larger bed will probably be needed

I would go deluxe to moderate. We stayed at FQ and loved the hotel. I liked the smaller size of the resort and the boats to DS are great.

It wouldn't be bad to share a double with my husband.

But I couldn't imagine my son sharing a double with someone, unless it was his wife. :crowded:

Adding that we have stayed at POFQ and we really enjoyed the resort. And it was right after a stay at the Floridian.

Yes! The 2 Port Orleans Resorts are the only resorts on property with this perk (unless you could Yacht Club and Beach Club sharing Stormalong Bay). If you stay at either Port Orleans Resort, you are welcome to use both pools. Nice perk because I do think that the pool at French Quarter is better than Riverside.

I believe the moderates have queen sized beds now.

I would go from the deluxe to a moderate. I've stayed at POR (not FQ) and really loved it, but I'm a fan anyway. I would not hesitate to stay at French Quarter; the resort is beautiful. The decor of the rooms, eh (gold and purple not for me), but I really think you will be fine.
