Hi everyone

Do people think that there will be AP discounts released for us mid Aug people who are arriving after the current AP discounts expire on 4th Aug and before the free dining on the 26th?

I believe there will be AP discounts. I'm an AP veteran and watch the history of AP discounts. I generally can guess when there will be blackouts (weeks before and after Easter, Christmas week to NY). I checked my old AP emails (yes I save them for reference) and the AP discounts for last August (6-26) were released on June 8th. So we should know something in the next couple of weeks. The release for AP discounts for Aug 27-Sept 30 were released on July 12th. And the release for Oct. 5 to Dec. 23 were released on August 16th. So that should provide you with some guidelines to what we might expect if history repeats itself. Of course, tourism is at an all time high so you never know when there may be a kink in the pattern.

I'm hoping for a rate to come out for then, too!

I figure sometime in the next couple of weeks hopefully!!:goodvibes

I know that the last couple of years in August I've been able to get a good rate, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this year.

Hi, sorry for the stupid question but I am a newbie. I booked a package through Disney for Aug 6-14. I don't really understand the whole code thing. If a code comes out can I call and try to get money back? Please help.
Thanks so much! :)

We got one the last two august trips so I am *hoping* for one again this year! :thumbsup2

queenof3 - I'm not as familiar as some with the package thing, but I'm almost certain that if you cancel 46 days ahead of when you will check in you can get all your money back. 46 - 6 days ahead you will get all but $100 back, 6 days or few all but $200 back. Canceling the day of arrival might incur that penalty + one night's room charge.

If you decide to go with an AP discount instead of your package, one of your party will have to have an annual passport when you check in (but not before), and you would, of course, lose out of any free dining that came with your package. I would just do the math if the AP discount comes out, make sure the room you want is available if it makes sense to switch, and then cancel the package if the numbers work out better for you.

Welcome to the DIS! :flower3:

So, would you care to speculate on the release of the Fla Residents rates? I'm booked into OKW 7/29-8/3, but I would really rather check in for my stay the following week on 8/5 for various issues of personal convenience. Obviously the rates aren't out yet, but I get nervous and am compelled to lock in a good current rate.

Are the AP rates similar to Fla Res rates?

Are there certain times of the year that Disney Vacation Club members get an additional discount above the rates quoted for each season? The new Animal Kingdom Villas are looking very tempting!
Thanks-

The new round of discounts should be out in the next couple of weeks. The Florida rates come out almost the same time as AP holders' rates. If you have the current rate offered for OKW, that is a great rate and a super discount. When discounts are offered to DVC members, they are 25% off of the rooms when available and only the DVC locations, so often the members will pay cash for weekends to save their points. Have you looked at the models for the AKVs, you can view them at SSR resorts. They look great! and the resort sounds wonderful when it's completed, especially the new pool/water area. I can't wait to see the finished product, but my heart is still waiting on official word for the openning of a DVC at CR.

I know this has probably been asked a million times but if you use an AP can you still buy the dining plan? I think I was told that you can't.

Since I'm currently not a DVC member I'm not sure I understand why I would want to pay cash "to save points". What's the advantage?

I didn't know they were planning DVC location at the Contemporary. Do you know where it will be located? Will it be where they demolished the garden wing? Way cool to be on the monorail line.

Thanks for the good information..I'm ready to get back soon - no matter where we stay!

n2mm Wow! You are good! I took advantage of AP rates last July/August but cannot remember which Deluxe resorts were included. I remember getting that great rate at BC for the first few days of my stay, right around the 1st of August. That rate was for BWI, YC and BC and maybe SSR. But for later in August, were the Passholder rates available at all the resorts or was it ltd. to specific ones?

Thanks!

I remember last August's rates were pretty much available at all of the resorts. Since the free DDP was going on there wasn't a big draw towards the AP rates, since most of us were going crazy with the free ddp. I think we'll see a wider array of discounts after Aug. 4th.

Last year did the AP discount for past August 5th include the Magic Kingdom/Lagoon View at the GF, Water View at the YC, or the Courtyard view at the WL?

I do remember an AP woods view at WL for after August 5, 2006, but not sure about the courtyard view being available.

Is anyone noticing less AP discounts at the deluxe resorts since last year? Just wondering what we might be looking at for post Aug 5 dates.
