We're staying at POR and planning to use Disney transportation for our stay. However, we plan to check out of POR on Saturday, rent a car, and drive over to West Palm Beach for the night (to visit family). We want to drive back on Sunday, when we fly out of MCO in the evening.

I haven't booked the rental car.. I know that we can get someone to pick us up and bring us to the car rental place on property, right? But how does that work when we return the car? How do we get to the airport?

Thanks!

You can reserve a car with a different pick-up location and return location. Just make sure you do this in advance.

For more about renting a car at WDW, see "Car rental locations for WDW..." at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2927109

Drive the car to West Palm Beach and back to Orlando.

At the end of your rental, return the car at MCO.

With most car rental companies and rate codes, there should not be a one-way charge or higher daily rental cost. However, some promotional rates and coupons require pick-up and return at the same location.

Man, that's a lot of driving!!! Has to be about 3 hrs each way. I know it's just over 3 hrs from WDW to my family's place in Pompano Beach!!
I would seriously consider changing the departing flight to either W Palm or Ft Lauderdale vs Orlando.

If you really want to do all that driving, you can rent from someplace close to POR (maybe DTD), drive to W Palm, and drive back to MCO and return the car there. You don't have to return the car to the same place you got it from. Just plug in MCO as your return place.

Also check prices from MCO. Could you ride DME to MCO and rent the car there.

Yes...check this out as an option.

There are several places that you can rent from on WDW property.....the Buena Vista Palace, The Wyndham, the Double Tree, Swan and Dolphin and the CCC. Also, there is a local Enterprise off site that will pick you up but you must call them directly.

This will add about an hour to your overall drive to WPalm. It's about 25 mins back to MCO, then add on another 25 mins heading back south again!
There are many places in DTD to rent from. Or, you can rent from Alamo/National at the Dolphin.
