Ok this is just a Random thought, but does anyone think there will be a new park added to WDW?

They already have:

Magic Kingdom
Epcot
MGM Studios
Animal Kingdom.....

So will Disney World get a new gargantuan 5th park??? What would it be called? What kind of stuff would it have?

Or will Disney just stay 'as is' and NEVER add a new theme park to the property?

Personally, I would LUV to see another park at WDW! Disney certainly owns enough land to accommodate another one. The question is, will Disney spend the money on building another park, or would they rather build more resort hotels to accommodate all the people coming to visit their existing parks??! During peak seasons, they certainly could use more hotels!!!!! :sunny:

There is still plenty of room for another park and more hotels. They'll need to do both! :)

I'm not sure what sort of theme would work for a 5th park. Rumors have been floating around that it will be villians themed and full of thrill rides, but I don't see Disney doing that. It won't attract all vacationers like the other parks do. It will just attract the thrill seekers. I like how there is enough thrills in each of the current parks so those who like those can enjoy them while the rest of their party is enjoying something else.

I'd also like to see some changes at MGM and another land added to AK. :)

Will there be another one? Most likely! This decade? No. Next decade? Maybe, but that'll really depend on the state of the economy and global security situation.

That Villans themed one sounds like it'd be exellent!!!! I mean since everything focuses on 'good' and 'happy'. Lets hope! I'd like to see another park pop up! It be grand if it did!

I thought, now don't hold my word to it, but I thought I saw somewhere that they are currently working on a new park in WDW and it will open in 2010.

Edit:

I just did a little research and I could very well be wrong. All I could find is info on Disneyland China.

Robert Iger, CEO of the Disney Company, made it clear that they won't be building a new theme park in Orlando anytime soon.

how about taking some elements from the Virginia disney park that wasn't and make it a sort of history themed one? There could be a sort of Williamsburg themed colonial America section, a medieval section (Sleeping Beauty and Snow White could wander around), a Greek/Roman myths (Hercules), and so forth...I'm sure Disney Imagineers could come up with better details than I, especially since I'm writing this at 6 in the morning...

I personally think they need to make another Magic Kingdom type of place. It seems that each park they want to do something different. There are plenty of Disney movies that have not been tapped yet to make rides like in Fantasyland. JMO. :)

According to the specials that they show there are alot more projects in store for Disney. They didnt leak any secrets but they said expect new things to happen!
It just gives you another excuse to go over and over and over again! :) :rotfl2:

Definitely. I think we can expect to see new things every year or so, as they swap old attractions out and create new attractions, imagine new parades and fireworks shows, etc..

I can't see a new park until the ones they have are a full day. MGM and AK aren't a full day. Imo they will upgrade these and refurbish MK and Epcot before a new park My guess 2015.

A recent two day article in the Orlando Sentinel made it very clear the directive from Iger was to continue with innovative attractions at the existing parks. That article specifically stated there are no new Florida parks on the drawing board at this time.

But.. that doesn't stop them from expanding any of the existing parks. MK has a ton of room nearby for expansion if they so chose.

Bicker is correct. Disney's attention is on new attractions and not on a new park. Not to say their focus won't ever shift, but for the forseeable future there will be no plans for a new park.

I'd like to see one as heavily themed as IoA's Port of Entry, with the whole park being that massively detailed. Disneyland Paris comes close in some ways.

Maybe my sugar free mocha latte's gone to my head, but since theres so much room, I say a dual themed park.

Half, all villans and thrills, half geared towrds small children, too young for the thrills. They could both have a couple of fun *wet* rides each... A little something for mom & dad/ older sibs, and a lil sumfin for the shorties :thumbsup2

I think it could depend on what else crops up around Orlando -

They noticed a lot of people at Wet N Wild - so they built Typhoon Lagoon

They noticed a lot of people at Pirates golf - so they built there own

At this point they are having a tough time keeping the current parks staffed. I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour last week and our guide used to be a frontline manager in Frontierland. He was telling us if it weren't for the College Program WDW wouldn't exist right now.

I've been thinking about this lately. If you look at the dates of the past ones...

MK- 1971
Epcot- 1982 (11 years later)
MGM- 1989 (7 years later)
AK- 1998 (9 years later)

So now it has been about 8 years since AK- if they follow past trends, that would mean a new park in the next few years. However, it must take a LONG time to build one, so unless they already have secret construction going on somewhere (wishful thinking!), I'm guessing we still have a while to wait!

I cant see anything coming for quite some time, and by that I mean a good 15 years. Yes, there has been a trend of Disney starting a new park on the WDW property every 19 years or so, but look at how slow AK has been coming along. There are still many people who will only do 3 of the 4 parks. Until Disney can keep its guests at each park for at least an entire day, and satisfied, there will not be a 5th gate in WDW. Besides, there is a lot of room to expand on with each park.

Now if only WDW was on the same budget as Tokyo's Disneysea... :goodvibes

Well there is already more to do than most people can manage during their vacations. I'd be happy just to see the current parks growing and improving.
The studios, AK, and Future World at Epcot have much untapped potential.:earsboy:
