Will there EVER be a 5th park at WDW?

Don't forget the water parks!!!

I don't know about new parks but I'd like to see more thrill rides in the existing parks. There is plenty of space to build them. If you build them, they will come. :rotfl: Don't get me wrong, I love WDW (haven't been on EE yet, sure its a nice little addition but at only 112' high, 50 mph and 80' drop it won't be breaking any records) yet I would like to see bigger, better, taller, faster modern roller coasters. If I could combine Cedar Point coasters with Disney magic...I would be in heaven.

DH would hate it.

Robert Iger, CEO of the Disney Company, made it clear that they won't be building a new theme park in Orlando anytime soon.

That is true.

But Robert Iger might expand on the parks we already have.

I have confidence he may bring back some of the great ideas that were on the drawing board pre 2001 and nixed because of lack of funds.

Before AK was built one of the lands was supposed to be Beastlie Kingdomme. Because of budget cuts Disney delayed the building of Beastly Kingdomme and built Camp Mickey and Minnie and put the show lion King in that area to keep the area ready for Beastlie Kingdom.
My understanding is that because Lion King and Camp Mickey and Minnie are so well liked that Disney scraped the whole idea of Beastlie Kingdomme.
They really had some great ideas on the drawing board and many people would like to see them become reality. I use to fear the chances of that happening were slim.

Now with Bob Iger as the CEO I once again have hope.

In an article I read by Paul Torrigino, contributing writer (introduction by Mark Goldhaber)
Paul tells about how he worked on a project for the Animal kingdom.
He spent 2 years helping to plan the Dragon Tower ride. (a thrill ride)
It was going to be a suspended coaster ride inside a castle complete with bats and a dragon.

There was going to be a restaurant on a little lake with mythical sea creatures.
The Loch Ness monster was going to appear every so often. Bubbling would start up in the lake and then the monster would slowly appear.
Sounds so cool.
They were also going to have, Fantasia Gardens, a bridge called "Billy Goat Bridge",a Unicorn Maze, a Mother Goose's shop, etc., that all over the land.

He said, "I remember after they shelved it, I watched the guys crate up all the pieces, very sad. They probably still have it all in a warehouse somewhere."

I for one hope they get those concepts out of the warehouse and build BK.

Here is a thread about Beastlie Kingdomme:

Have fun at Disney! :wizard:

The Orlando Sentinel article said one thing to watch for was more 'cross pollination' of attractions between the various Disney parks. Like bringing Soarin to Florida and taking ToT to California etc.

But I would REALLY like to see some of the things you described !

how about taking some elements from the Virginia disney park that wasn't and make it a sort of history themed one? There could be a sort of Williamsburg themed colonial America section, a medieval section (Sleeping Beauty and Snow White could wander around), a Greek/Roman myths (Hercules), and so forth...I'm sure Disney Imagineers could come up with better details than I, especially since I'm writing this at 6 in the morning...

I love the idea of a history park!!!!!!!! How many times have you wished that you could experience a different era of time. Each "land" could be a different era. Disney Planner Mama, I love your idea about the different characters being found in each era!

Another cool idea that I read on these boards (in the form of an April Fools prank) would be to have a Disney Sea in WDW. (A poster had posted that a Disney Sea concept was coming to WDW to compete with Sea World.....and yes, I fell for the joke). But wouldn't that be cool??????? I would bet that in the next decade, we will be hearing about a 5th park. Yay!

I think just improving the existing parks is a better idea. MGM should come up with a show to replace Beauty, Voyage, Indy, Sounds Dangerous, and improve Star Tours. I love Millionaire b/c it is different everytime!

I have to say I'm very much in favor of expanding and improving existing parks over building new ones. The parks as they stand are a comfortable fit for our nominal 6/7 days at the World... if a new park went in we'd start to feel like we were pressed for time again, and I can't see us ever staying more than a week.

How about a water-themed park only having to do with water-themed Disney movies? Little Mermaid, Nemo, I would LOVE it! :lovestruc

I thought, now don't hold my word to it, but I thought I saw somewhere that they are currently working on a new park in WDW and it will open in 2010.

Edit:

I just did a little research and I could very well be wrong. All I could find is info on Disneyland China.

It would take a minimum of 5 years to build, so 2010 is out. And the new CEO made it VERY clear, there will be no new theme park. :confused3

I would love if they finally added the fantastical beast area to AK!

I would really like to see someting with a Dragon somewhere.Girls love to play Princess and my boys were always fasinated with Dragons.
Bk would also be an ideal area to add a dark Narnia ride. Please Disney imagineers pull the drawing plans out of the closet and rethink BK once again!
Disney has done great marketing everything Princess for girls.
The young boys would would love drangons, knights, wizards, and Narnia things.
