Hi my USA friends, a U.K. DISer here,

I hope it's ok to post a question here!

So, we've booked a complete holiday package with a Travel Agent, which includes a "Full Size 4 Door Car" (that's the description on our booking). Day to day around Disney, I'm sure the car will be big enough for 2 adults, 1 teen and 1 child... But how about bags from and back to the airport? We plan to take three regular sized (so I guess, large) suitcases and a hold-all (hope that's not a British word!) The car is booked with Alamo at MCO... Will we all fit???

Thanks, travel experts!

MfP

I think you'll be fine. I drive a compact car, and I would easily be able to fit all of that in my trunk.

Hold-all is a British word, but fortunately Google knows what it means :)

Alesia,

THANK YOU for such a quick response!

Google saves the day then ( thanks for looking it up!!!) ha ha...

Cheery-bye and thanks again.

I think we call a hold-all either a gym bag or duffel bag here. A full sized car will be fine for 4 people, though the luggage might be a pretty tight squeeze depending on the model you get. Alamo allows you to pick the car you want, so you should be ok. Just check the boot space first.

The nice thing about having a vehicle booked with Alamo is that you get to pick whichever vehicle you like from the Aisle of cars in the size that you booked. You say you have a full size booked so you will be sent out to the Full Size aisle in the car lot and you will be allowed to pick whichever vehicle works best for you. The Full size aisle will typically have full size 4 door sedans (these are American sized vehicles so pretty big by Brit standards - don't worry, I used to live there so I know). Sometimes you can also find small SUVs on this aisle so I'm sure you will find something to fit your needs that will be to your liking.

When we rent cars for our family (of 5, including a teenage DD), we get full size. As mentioned, the trunk (boot) space may be a little tight, but there's always been room. Since you only have four, that also leaves you some room in the backseat between passengers if needed.

Alamo seems to often have Chevy Impalas on their full size row, this car is known for it's generous trunk space. You might even get lucky and be able to grab a bigger car. We frequently see minivans and mid size SUVs on the Alamo full size aisle at Mco (though certainly don't count on that).

Ex-Pat here (now living in Canada), a full sized car will be something similar in size to a Mondeo or Cavalier (I know, old style cars but I don't know the current models). More than big enough to hold all the people and baggage - you might have to put your hold-all on the back seat but shouldn't be a problem.

Was back home a couple of years ago and rented a Ford Mondeo, Thrifty had this listed as a Full-Size, but definitely felt more like a mid-size to us (may have even been a little smaller than our Pontiac G6 which is supposed to be mid-size.
Mind you, the price of fuel was hovering around the 2 British Pounds per liter at the time (roughly $16-$18 per gallon). Needless to say, we made the most of our outings and were glad that we didn't have a huge vehicle to fuel up all the time at those prices.
We are pretty spoiled with our current fuel prices around home.

Thanks you guys! That's really put my mind to rest! Sorry about the language issues.... Duffle bag sounds better than hold-all. Trunk (not an elephant's) is such a funny word for boot !! Love it!
