Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

Lovin' the sea turtle connection!!! :rotfl:

I'm amazed at the things I can bring together tenuously.

Six degrees of separation..through sea turtles?:lmao:

Go look at MeMom's latest update -- she had a NoWayJose on her July trip, and took pictures!!! :goodvibes

Oh, you had me at No Way JOSE!!!

And pictures? I'm going to be soooooo sad I'm not at Beaches and Cream right now, aren't I? ::yes::

I heard/read that TSMM FPs are all out by 10am! Have DH power walk.

In regards to paying OOP for Brown Derby.

I know it's "free" dinning but every credit has a worth.

TS credits are worth $25.44 each
CS credits are worth $10.08 each
Snack credits are worth $2.53 each

So if you use 2TS for Brown Derby for your self, that meal should be "worth" $51 of food. A Cobb salad is $14, the most expensive dessert is $9, soda is $3 (but you want a drinky-poo that would have to be OPP anyways). So the worth of you dinning plan lunch would be $26. Not a very good deal....since your lunch is only half way thru your vacation I would pay OOP and use the credits some where else.

In this case, it also depends on what DH and DS order. That being said, I think it makes more sense to go OOP here, and have the freedom to order what we like, instead of tying DS in to a children's meal, we could get him some more adult food, and he can share with us as well. I shudder at the thought of the children's "food" offerings for the week. I see a lot of sharing going on! :lmao:

Yep. I even made Charles come over and look at the photos as in, "Look, honey, we could eat an early lunch here before we leave."

Ha! Sweetening the pot, eh?

Excellent plans for your fourth day! I do hope you will keep your ressies at The Brown Derby--you have such wonderful memories of it; I think you should add more! :goodvibes

Dessert for dinner. Mmm. I wish I were at Beaches and Cream, too!

Well, I'd love to ride TSM. But I'm not into the running of the bulls. When we get to the park, I'll send DH on ahead with our tickets and see if he can score us some fastpasses. We'll see how we fare, folks.

I hear ya. Add that to the fact that I doubt we'll be on hand right at opening. Meh. Do I want to see it?
Yes.
Have I heard wonderful things from everyone that's experienced it?
Uh-huh.
Am I hinging my whole visit to MGM (NODHS) on being able to see it?
Prolly not.

1. Get TK a junky apple for dinner
And one for the plane.
And one for the first night home.
And one for Christmas morning.
And one for when it's been "one of those days".
I could go on.
But I'll spare you.

Well, I don't know if you're aware, but at the boat launch from DHS to the various Epcot resorts, like the Beach Club that contains my oh so heavenly No Way Jose, it is possible to see little turtles swimming just beneath the surface while you're waiting for the boat...I mean, ship...to arrive.

Ay...

sea turtles.

I've seen those turtles (and am also VERY acquainted with the rather, um, forward...nay, we should say AGGRESSIVE ducks) so many times thanks to all those stays at the Swolphin. I also really enjoy the walkway from MGM (NODHS) to the resort area.

Anyhoo, this is a day where I'd like to spend the majority of it, tempers permitting, in the park. We have our 1230 ressie at The Brown Derby, which I'm very much looking forward to. I hear a Cobb Salad and glass of champagne...or Citron Limeade, haven't made that judgment call yet...calling my name...TK, we're so refreshing...TK, you'll have room for dessert.

What remains to be seen is if we'll be using 2TS credits for this or paying out of pocket. It all hinges on whether or not we eat at Artist Point. Which is booked later in the trip. And that I've thought about sneaking in earlier. Or maybe just going for apps and desserts. But I refuse to committ. Because it's vacation. And we'll do what we want to do because we want it! PIRATE!!!! :lmao:

Anyway, I'm fairly certain we'll keep this reservation. Because nobody makes Cobb Salad like The Hollywood Brown Derby, folks. Nobody. And an air-conditioned respite from the parks with cool as all get out caricatures all over the walls, and memories of all the times I've eaten there, well, let's just say TK's a little fond of the place. Like the trip where it was just me and my mom. I can remember exactly where we sat, and what we were both wearing, and exactly what we talked about. And most of it revolved around what a great guy DH (my then fiance was) and mom approved. :thumbsup2 I remember when The Brown Derby used to have a piano player. We were at one of a handful of tables left in the restaurant at a dead time of year, and the piano player was tickling the ivories, letting us guess what he was playing. He said, okay, whoever gets this next one gets free dessert. So who guesses it correctly? My husband, of course. It was the theme to an older TV show, I don't even remember what now, but that was a fun time. Budget cuts after September 11th, and there was no more piano player in The Brown Derby. I remember a lot of performers that got cut then, but I digress. I remember going with the WHOLE clan last year, and how we had enough adults on the dining plan to try every single dessert on the menu, which we did. I really love The Brown Derby. So as flexible as my pirate self is, I don't think I'm giving this reservation up.

Mmmm. I love the Brown Derby as well. Went there for the first time last year and fell in love with the place. I love that you feel miles away from the park while your sitting there. However I am now sad that I missed the piano player. Stupid Disney! We originally had to cancel our Brown Derby ADR for this trip, and were thrilled when we were able to squeeze it in. I still haven't had the chance to try the Cobb salad though. (It's on the to do list).

What do I plan to do at DHS? Well, I'd love to ride TSM. But I'm not into the running of the bulls. When we get to the park, I'll send DH on ahead with our tickets and see if he can score us some fastpasses.

It's definitley crazy. We walked over at a quick but not crazy pace and sent my SIL ahead for FP's. Decieded to get in line and ride in the standby line before it got too crazy (about 30 min. wait or so). It ended up being a good thing that we did. The kids loved it and wanted to ride again. Without having the FP's we would have never waited that long. By the time we got off the ride the FP comeback time was 5:30, and the standby wait time was about an hour and a half.

To anyone going soon and wanting to ride this, I'd recomend the following. If you think your only going to want to ride it once, just go ahead and get in the standby line as soon as you walk over there. It seems like alot of people are going for the fastpass line, so if you hop right on the regular line you should be able to get on within 20 mins at the most. I was traveling with a wheelchair, a stroller, and a senior with a bad knee, and had we ridden right away that was the wait time when we got to the entrance.

If you think you may want to ride a second time, and if you have kids they will probably be wanting to ride at least once more, send ahead the fastest walker to pick up Fastpasses. Either ride without them, or wait until they are done and hop in line right away. That was our plan, although we wasted some time collecting tickets near the FP line. You will have to wait a bit longer in the standby line, but it still isn't nearly as bad as later in the afternoon. I'd guess we waited about a half hour or so. The queue was interesting so it went by fairly quickly. The grandfathers with us were getting a bit cranky that they had to wait, but were happy once on the ride. (They were much worse than the kids). They kids actually waited patiently the whole time, probably because it was early in the day. I wouldn't want to try it later with them.

The kids loved it so much they were volunteering to wait in the long line again, but with 90+ minute waits the adults weren't going for it. FP's were out by about 10:30 am and the standby line was 70-90 mins pretty much all day. We even tried to ride on another day just as Fantasmic was starting, thinking the crowd would have thinned by then, but it was still 90 mins. Crazy!

And I'm hoping that in the evening we'll do one of two things. (A mini list for LL for her birthday here! ;) )

1. Get TK a junky apple for dinner

I'm curious on this one, what in the world is a junky apple? You have me curious!

I heard/read that TSMM FPs are all out by 10am! Have DH power walk.
.

10:30 when I was there. 10 am would give you a comeback time of at least 5:30. It was nuts!

My nieces ate more from everyone else's plates this trip. My SIL and Brother finally gave up buying them their own meals, and just let them share one. Then they were free to graze from everyone else's plates. They aren't very good eaters anyways. If you gave them their own portion of what we had they wouldn't eat it, but as soon as it's someone elses it's all they want.

It actually worked out well for me. I ate much less because I knew they'd come around eating a good portion of my food. Kept me from overeating. :)

Can I hire them for my trip? :lmao:

Not to tread on my sweet sister's toes, but THESE are good examples of "junky apples":

If I take my DH (Jose) for a NoWayJose, can I attempt to eat it by myself as the name CLEARLY implies he's not allowed to touch it?!

Holy carp monkeys... come to mama!

:lmao:

I like that saying! I shall yell it out the next time I go into a candy shop.

I agree! Sweet mother of fudge is going to be my new "Oh, Sugar!" What can I say, when you have a three year old who repeats everything phrases are limited.

:rotfl: :lmao: You ladies are making me laugh this morning!

Me, too! I'm glad to see you all have so much fun on my thread! :goodvibes

And too all those I didn't quote, thanks for still reading this odyssey! NoHomer. NoSimpson.

And, Tink. How do I love thee for posting junky apples? Let me count the ways...

Oh, I'm behind. So, so far behind.

There should have been a chapter yesterday, but instead there was sleep. Blessed sleep. As in TK went to bed at 800pm and didn't get up until 615am.

Ahhh....:cloud9:

I felt better this morning, but my peaceful oblivion was slightly marred by the entrace of someone into my bed chamber at the ungodly hour of three am. You know, the time I'll most likely be waking up a week from Sunday? But, I jump ahead.

Yes, there was a pitter patter, and a small child joined me. I can say two things. 1. Thank God DH was asleep on the couch. 2. Thank God I booked a resort with queen beds. Oy, that child! Fish out of water. And me! Fish out of water! I won't even describe to you how at one point his feet were at my neck. We won't go there. But bless him, when I woke up this morning, and he was still sleeping, with his head on the pillow just so angelic....:cloud9: my baby boy.

But what's even more than less unhelpful? Nothing, really, just that I'm behind. :lmao:

So what I would have written yesterday is that two weeks from today, I'll be waking up somewhat earlier. And rousing the menfolk as well. Because that Thursday is our one early breakfast ADR. What say you? Something early for the TK clan?

Well....if you count 1020am as early, sure! :lmao: This is just early by comparison to all our other laid back days.

However, this ADR is important.

It is fairly non-negotiable. It is something I have wanted to do and spent hours drooling over food porn for.

Boma.

Say it with me. Bo-maaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Lovely, lovely breakfast at Boma. So I know for this day, everyone will need to be up and at 'em, and dressed and ready to go by 900, so that we can mosey our way to some transportation. I plan to boat or bus to MK, and then bus to AKL. It should be fairly simple, but I'm giving us an hour's travel time, because you just never know.

After we've partaken in a little slice of heaven on earth in the form of delectable morning repast, we'll make our way to the Animal Kingdom park.

Oh, I have high hopes for this park.

I hate to tell you how many times I've been here. And that I still haven't seen everything. And that really there's no reason for that. I hate to tell you that I still need a park map in the Animal Kingdom because for some dang reason, it's the only park I cannot memorize. I get turned around, don't know my way around, and all around flustered. Fortunately for me, for some reason, this park sticks with DH. I attribute my lack of knowledge to the fact that I haven't seen everything...something that I hope to rectify.

This is the park that could be my undoing, folks. The park that appeals to my non-pirate, structured, OCD nature. The park that makes me add the park hopping option back on. Because I know how mom and nana feel about this park. I can sum it up in one word: safari. That's pretty much what they go there for. So I really, really would like to do some other things this year. Like see Nemo or FOTLK, since it's highly unlikely we can do both. Like go to the petting zoo, which I didn't even realize existed.

The Animal Kingdom is my shame, my friends. It is the largest symbol of the smallest bit of my lack of Disney knowledge.

I will rectify that.

I will become Animal Kingdom savvy.

I will prevail.

That's the pirate in me, I guess.

Anyhoo, after I've hopefully managed to do at least some of the things I've never done here, we'll leave.

And most likely adjourn to Downtown Disney. Where I hope to have a date with a few things. Goofy's Candy Co for one. Lots of shopping for another. And the big McDonald's for dinner. I think DS will just get an absolute kick out of that McDonald's. I know the menfolk will want to go to Once Upon a Toy, and I'll want to go in...well, all the shops! :lmao:

This is a leisurely night of shopping, eating, browsing, shopping, eating, browsing. What a great way to end a day.

However, if upon leaving the Animal Kingdom I discover that I am feeling, shall we say...sticky? Shall we venture to even say that my natural...ahem...glow in Florida has turned to something less of a glow and more of a sheen of perspiration that it is highly possible we may not head to downtown and may actually head back to the hotel for a swim?

Well, judging by the fly by the seat of our pants nature of this trip, I'd say it's entirely possible.

Which brings us to today.

Two weeks from now.

So that's Friday, the 19th. Upon which we will be having lunch at The Grand Floridian Cafe at 1230pm. Ahhh...my taste of the Grand Flo without actually staying there. I do so love this hotel. It left such a huge impression on me when we stayed there when I was about 10, and I believe on that trip I told my parents when I got married I wanted to honeymoon there.

I did.

:::ahem::::

Anyway, I just read the greatest food review for the cafe, with some yummy, yummy sandwiches and it looked so good. So, so good. I am looking forward to this ADR. But I'll let you in on a little secret.

I'm not married to it. I'm glad I have it, glad I booked it, glad we have something. It is possible it may get swapped for something else. I'm not sure. Ah, TK does not know what she wants. NoMagicSpinnyCompass.

We have another ADR for this day, in the evening. It's a 600pm for Artist Point. Another I would like to do, but am not married to. I've entertained the notion of switching it to another evening, of dropping it completely. I just don't know. And I won't decide. We'll pack some dressier clothes in case we feel like doing a nice signature get all gussied up restaurant, and asking the server to take a picture of the cute little family we'll be in our fancy duds, or we'll drop it and eat some junk and play some video games. Who can say? :lmao:

Now, if we're not going to add park hoppers back on, this day will be spent in Epcot. It will be the Epcot last hurrah, if you will. We'll most likely be spending our time in the countries, finishing up whatever we didn't do on our first day here. Leisurely. Go with the flow-y. And shopping, my friends. I do love shopping in Epcot, especially China. Such pretty things, and usually reasonably priced. Perhaps someday if I'm feeling fancy, I'll post a picture of the painting I bought there. It's gorgeous, and hangs in our living room.

Wow, that was a digression.

I seem to be full of those tonight. Yikes, it's 915! Way past my bedtime. :lmao:

Anyhoo, wrapping up. This night in Epcot, I believe there's EMH. So it is entirely possible that we may stay a bit later and watch Illuminations if we haven't already, and then slowly mosey our way out as everyone else stays for EMH. This is dependent upon several things, one being that DS is okay with fireworks and loud noises on this trip which we just won't know until we get there, and another that I've heard the globe is out for refurbishment. Which makes me wonder if the shortened version of Illuminations is going to do it for me, so to speak. Illuminations is my favorite. I have a lot of emotional memories tied up in this, and I haven't seen it in a while. To see it not in its true form would be...well, weird. But, I've also heard rumors, albeit rumors, that they're working on something to replace it, which makes me think I should at least try to see it if that's the case.

So that's the wrap up, folks.

Two days in one.

Lord, let me stay on track now, that was a doozy.:lmao:
