Alright, so the dress that I wear for
MNSSHP when I dress as Elizabeth isn't that bad!
You like pain? Try wearing a corset!
No, actually, it's quite lovely. But I've had a thought. A revelation. A trifle, really. Since they've released the pricing for the MNSSHP party tickets it occured to me...YIKES!
Now, don't get me wrong, we can afford it. And even if we couldn't, I would figure out a way to because, dagnabbit, those par-tays are so fun! Drink up me hearties yo ho!
But I'm thinking about that dress I wore last year. And although, lovely, and pretty, and beautiful, it's not very, very flexible. And it takes up a bit of room to pack. And if, gawd forbid a million times (NOZZUB

) it rains again, then, oy, it's going to become a very pretty, lovely, beautiful, and heavy dress.
Once again we

to the weather gods that on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party will be a dry event. But where has the rum gone?

Summery, if you will. With perhaps even a nice breeze...but no rain!!!!!!!
So in keeping of the tradition that although I

to the weather gods, I really have no control over what will happen, and I arrived at a decision.
I am changing my costume.
I know, I know.

But don't flip out yet. It's not that crazy.
See, I'm still going to be Elizabeth. Just different Elizabeth. Not pretty, dressy Elizabeth. No, no. Pirate Elizabeth. And to complete this lovely look, I'm going to use things we already own!
Now what you may ask will happen to said beautiful dress I spent exorbitant funds on? Why, I'll tell you. I actually plan to wear it on Halloween. This year, Halloween is on a Friday. Since I'll be working, I plan to take DS trick or treating afterwards in my mother's neighborhood. Since I grew up there, there's lots of folks I know, and some newer neighbors my mom is friends with, so it really is lots of fun to go there. If I take him out a little bit earlier, I can still get home in time to pass out candy at my apartment, as well. So on Halloween, unless DS changes his mind, he'll be a pirate, and I'll be Elizabeth...dress Elizabeth. Savvy?
For MNSSHP, this is the concept. I'm going to wear a very baggy white v-neck t-shirt, one I had gotten for DH to use as part of a costume one year. I think we got an XL, so it's nice and roomy for me. I will still wear the Aztec coin necklace, hence the connection to Elizabeth. If I have time or ambition I will either hunt down/make a vest. If I don't, I'll go sans vest. I'm going to wear a pair of black knit gauchos that have a scalloped edging, some type of sandal, and I'll use extra fabric we have from DH's costume to create my own waist sashes. If DH is feeling obliging, I'll ask him to make me some cool belts, etc to go with, since he did such a great job on his last year. So I won't be copying a particular movie outfit, but I'll be more comfortable, and more mobile, and so much easier to cover with a poncho...shh...don't tell the weather gods. I think I may check out the Dollar Tree as it gets closer to Halloween and see if I could get myself a fancy sword or pistol...with one shot, of course.
I'm thinking this is a good plan. Even though it may not be completely evident that I'm Elizabeth. Heck, I'll just look like some pirate chick. And quite frankly, when my DH dresses like Jack Sparrow, that's pretty much what I get reduced to...some pirate chick.
Except for one cast member. Bless him. He took a fancy to my costume last year and told me where you can find the two movie prop necklaces on your way out of the Pirates ride. He actually told me how much he liked my Elizabeth costume. Bless you for flirting with me in front of my husband since you've got to be at least 5-10 years younger than I am.

Hey, it's only fair! Do you know how many ladies are eyeing my DH all night? I deserve some props!

Actually, now that I think about it, I was also recognized by the cast member who rang me out at the Pop when we got back that night (remember the sugar cookie). "Did you have fun trick or treating, Elizabeth?"
Ah, memories.
And yet again I've managed to avoid writing the day we leave.
